    1. BEDDING!!! Such a waste
    2. too many newborn clothes
    3. swaddle blankets

We use receiving blankets to go out now that it's warmer outside, or to cover the top of the stroller. I also used them when I was nursing to cover the EZtwin pillow.

We use our bottle warmer in our room, we also make bottles and refrigerate them to heat up later. But I did hear from another mom that using a crock pot works well.

    1. Wipes warmer - I bought it thinking it would be nice at night. Well, I have to wake mine up every 3 hours to feed so cold wipes are good to wake them! And now they are used to cold wipes. Unfortunately, I threw out the box

    2. Diaper Champ. HATE. IT. I want a normal trash can. Their poops aren't even that stinky yet.

can't think of another one right now. I don't want to put EZ2Nurse pillow b/c it is GREAT if you can BF. I only used it a few times though and then couldn't BF anymore :(
My boppys I have not used yet. I just use the newborn lounger.
it's funny - I have 2 bottle warmers- they are ok, don't warm enough but do take the chill off :)

ivfbound - what do you mean you are not supposed to rock the babies??

HinSD- you're cute. I just mean "rock to sleep". I didn't know that so I was all pumped about getting the glider! (It was actually at the top of my list.) And then I read all the books and realized it's best to put them down to sleep AWAKE!! UGH. Not only that, but with two-- I never had time to rock them to sleep. I think I used it like 5 times and then sold it on Craigslist for $500.

I also wanted to add Bumbo to the list. I knew that was a bad purchase when I was buying it but did it anyway!!! That thing is soo super stupid and UGLY! I hate looking at it. It looks like a toilet.

I agree that we have too many little dresses and impractical newborn clothes.

I actually use my minitor b/c we all sleep with fans and can't hear babies otherwise.

Since I already had three, I basically knew what worked for us already! :)

1- wipe warmer-another person who never took it out of the box (and can't find time to return it)
2-bottle drying rack-bought the biggest one I could find but still not enough room to fit all the bottle parts on
3-jar food carousel/organizer-a lot of Gerber food comes in the rectangular plactic containers and didn't fit on it besides the fact that we go thru so much food that not everything I have in stock at the house would fit

-2 pack n plays (only used one)
-Bumbos - so far they hate them
    - No scratch mittens never stayed on
-those sleepers that look like dresses.....I HATE those things!

Oh yeah, someone else reminded me...

    3. The sleeping gowns. Their diapers would slip down and leak if they weren't wearing a onesie underneath, and then what's the point?
    4. The swings. I really thought we would use these a ton but they've only been used a handful of times. They didn't fit well in them when they were really little and now they just get bored.

At first I thought the Bumbos were a waste but I just started using them while feeding solids and they are handy.

    4. swing- mine hated the swing for some reason.

I think its funny how some people hate something and others love it!

I love my changing table in the girls room.

We have a bottle warmer and we love it!
We just started using Bumbos and yes they are ugly but the girls love it!
We love our swing. So much so that we bought another one as the girls would only sleep in swings for a while.
I love all of my receiving blankets. I like to have them in different parts of the house in case I want to lay the girls on the floor I can put the blanket down under them.
I am glad we have two PNP. One in our room in case we need to do an emergency take baby out of room to allow other baby to sleep. The other is outside on our patio in the shade so I can put the girls out there while I garden/yard work. We didn't register for two though, my cousin just had a baby last year so my grandmother had an extra.

So, anyway I guess my post is to show that some families love different baby items while other families think they are stupid. Whatever works for your family is my theory!

    1. bottle warmer for the car (it took like an hour to warm up the bottle)

    2. a gazillion cute little outfits for 0-3 months (they didn't wear so many of them)

    3. breathable bumpers. I hated them and the girls hated them. I took off the bumpers and put on the breathable ones. my girls did not sleep nearly as well. they love to cuddle up on them even to this day. I think the breathable ones lasted about 2 weeks and then I took them down and put up the regular bumpers again.

I have to add one more

    4. the pacifier/thermometer. it just never seemed to work or I couldn't get them to suck long enough when they were little to actually get their temp.

So funny that some stuff I love others hate.

I use my bottle warmer all the time. Also, I like my bedding sets. We use the bumpers and sheets which are super cute and the quilt lies over the rocker for decoration. I don't use the rocker/glider for rocking, but it's a comfy chair for me to sit in while I nurse them (only when nursing one at a time).

    Useless products for me were:

    1) Bibs - these are only good once you start solids. otherwise they always spit on the shoulder where there is no bib
    2) Receiving blankets - like others said. just buy a few and invest in some good swaddling blankets
    3) Preemie clothes - Outgrew those way too quickly. By the time they were released from the nicu, they were in newborn sizes
    4) Cute clothing - Invest in sleepers and onesies! And buy a few cute outfits for pictures but they are a pain to take on and off.

Ok, so now that I went and put my top 3 picks in, I thought I would add my bottom too.

Bumbo seat. Would have been alright, but the babies didn't like it too much. Fortunately I borrowed one from my sis and only bought one.

I don't have any others. These boys are my 3rd and 4th so I was very careful what I purchased.

    1. To many cute outfits (all I needed was onsies at first)
    2. Moby Wrap (I thought I would use this much more than I have)

I can't think of anything else. I do however have to mention the podees. These have been the best thing I ever purchased. I don't go anywhere without them. If I don't have time to nurse them both because I have to leave I just throw that in the car seat and it works perfectly!! I have used these so many times and they never fail me.

    Bottle Warmer
    Baby Papasan Chair
    Bumbo

We loved our Papsan chair, Jake slept in it for months. The bumbo was great as well.

    My top 3

    1) wind up mobiles for the crib - our soothers w/batteries is much better!
    2) Baby bjorn (it was very uncomfortable for me)
    3) baby monitor...apparently i have jamie summers bionic hearing

I really wish I would have had this thread to read when I was expecting!!

ITA agree with the bedding! What a waste! So sad too because it was SO cute at the store!
Swings also were not a hit in our house
I think we used our bottle warmer 3 times and realized it was faster to heat up the water in the microwave and make bottles as we went through the day

we also use our bottle warmers (we have two!) all the time. however, that's cuz the boys are still getting mostly bm. when we give them formula, it's nice to be able to do so at room temp.... also, we love all the blankets. we have about fifty and use them for tons of different things.

ok, so what do we not use....

so far--the cribs! our boys won't even sleep in the pnp so there's no way they'd sleep all alone in cribs at this point. but they probably will at some point.

onesies in the beginning--what the heck? no baby wants something going over his head. especially when they're spitting up every five mintues and changing their clothes all the time. i'd be happy if my boys lived in their snappy shirts forever!

the "pod" for bathing. we got this bucket thing that's for bathing infants, but by the time they got home from the nicu they were ready for the regular tub. now we use it to store toys in, lol!

other than that, we've been pretty lucky. we were really careful about taking suggestions for registry items from our local twins club. that paid off!

I'm glad i already had a child before the twins, so I had a better idea of what not to buy- especially what not to buy 2 of! From my oldest, the most useless products were:

1- wipes warmer (the ones on the bottom always burned!)
    2- tons of blankets
    3- microwave sterilizer

This time around I exchanged a lot of blankets immediately after my shower, and use the dishwasher for sterilizing (although I mostly just hand wash in soapy water). My oldest also hated her swing, but Lily sleeps in hers! I never bought Bumbos because I thought they were pointless. It's different for everyone!

    1. bedding - i wanted that ladybug bedding SO BAD, and by the time the girls FINALLY went into their cribs to sleep (from the swings), we had to remove the bumpers, so all we can enjoy now are the sheets. <_<
    2. mobiles
    3. receiving blankets (MIL INSISTED i couldn't have enough. i have WAAAY more than enough. and teh girls never liked to be swaddled)
    4. those nightgown dresses (another thing MIL insisted upon.) never used them.
    5. bottle warmer. DH bought this and i used it maybe 3 times. i just keep the bottles in a bowl of warm water for a few minutes, and they're fine
