I had IVF and about 4 days after I found out I was pregnant, I woke up in extreme pain and went to ER, as it turned out I had an ovarian tortion(twisted twice) and they had to go in to fix it and when I woke up out of a drugged state the dr. mentioned seeing a second "shadow" Well, they kept monitoring it for 2 or 3 weeks and I kept saying to my husband "it's not twins, I would know if it was twins" right up until the day the confirmed 2 heartbeats.... I've never been so happy to be wrong...

I was 7 weeks . . . quite early . . . THANKS GOODNESS! I needed the extra time to adjust to the idea!

I found out it was twins at 6 or 7 weeks. I was really really sick and was diagnosed with Hyperemesis Gravadeum (sp) ( I was also really sick with my first as well). Anyways, the doctor wanted to do a real quick u/s to see if there was more then one.

I kind of thought that it would be twins before I found out, but it was still a shock to see two there. :D

I found out at almost 22 weeks that it was twins at my regular U/S. there was never any reason to suspect more than one. I didn't measure big until after the U/S, never found (or looked for that matter) more than one heartbeat, I wasn't extra sick, just really tired, and hungry! twins don't run in either of our families and I didn't wear maternity clothes until 19 weeks. we were shocked to put it mildly. I never thought I'd even have a close personal friend or family member w/ twins let alone have them myself! hehe

We had the triple screen blood work done at 16 weeks and received a call from the dr that I had to come in to the office. So of course I freaked out thinking there was something wrong with the baby? We were told that my AlphaFetoProtein level was high and could mean the baby had a problem with its neurological or could be twins.

Mom had come to the appt with me and was convinced it was twins. One reason was when we got pregnant in Disneyland we had brought back a souvenir for her which was SnowBabies and there were two of them riding on Eeyore so she had said at the moment I told her I was pregnant there was two. I on the other had thought the worst.

We had to wait another week in a half to get an ultrasound before we found out there were two babies and still had to go to the genetics councellor so they could redo the figures on test and by being two babies our tests were now normal.

TG was all I could say.

We did Clomid/IUI, and I had three good follies.....so I guess we should have suspected, but honestly, we didn't think it was going to work at all, based on the odds the RE gave us.

I should add that we also did Clomid/IUI last time, also had three follies, and ended up with ONE daughter....

Anyhow, at the 6-week u/s, we saw three sacs....and two weeks later, three heartbeats. (One baby didn't make it.) I think shock didn't even begin to describe it, and then, a roller coaster of losing one, etc.

So, it took some time to even adjust to the idea of two -- but, by 24 weeks or so, I was *done* with the nursery, had all the gear, and am now just ready and waiting for the babies to come.

I can't even fathom having found out only a week ago! Holy cow -- 27 weeks!!!!

Almost the same situation here. We did IUI with injectibles and found out at our 6w U/S that we were PG with triplets. The U/S tech says: "how do you feel about three?". I wouldn't have been too surprised about twins due to the IF treatment and the fact that we both have twins in our families, but three threw us big time. DH couldn't stop talking, asking innane questions and I just got real quiet, then started laughing.

Sadly, one heartbeat wasn't that strong and we were prepared to lose that baby, which we did one week later. We now have healthy 6 month olds!

We found out at 12weeks ( the first U/S) the doc said I was measuring big and that my dates had to be wrong. I knew my dates were right, so I said I was having a big baby (or twins hahahaha). I still can't believe it was twins...

We found out at 6w3d. I went in to the doc's b/c I had peed on a stick and knew I was pregnant. When I got there they said that, based on my size, i was 9 weeks along. i said no way - i could only be 6 weeks along. I was so adament that they finally said, ok let's settle this with an ultrasound.

Almost immediately, the u/s the tech said, oh no you're definitely 6w along. Then, out of the blue, she asked if we'd done fertility treatments. We hadn't and were so confused as to why she would ask us that. So then she said, oh, b/c there's two in there. That's when she turned the monitor to us and we saw the two little beans in there!

    What a crazy day!!!

We found out at 6 weeks because we went through IVF and got pregnant with our twin boys! :D
I can't imagine going so long in your pregnancy without knowing! What a fun suprise!

This was my fourth pregnancy and I had BTDT, so I procrastinated going in to see a doctor. Right around 24 weeks I finally went in and I was suspecting that I was pg with twins because I was a lot bigger than I was with my singletons. I asked the Doctor about it and she said that my measurements were normal. The nurse listened to the heartbeat(s) and didnt notice two distinct rythms ( I dont know how she missed it). And when I asked the Doctor about the heartbeats she just said they wouldnt know anything until I had an ultrasound (she didnt even listen for herself or anything). My dh had the same attitude too, 'wont know anything until the ultrasound, blah blah blah.' He didnt believe me at all so it was funny when the ultrasound tech (at 26 weeks) told us that we were having twins.
The Perinatologist told us that there were all sorts of things wrong with the babies, but they turned out perfectly healthy and beautiful. I wouldnt change a thing, I probably would have waited even longer but I really wanted to know if I was having twins. They really messed with me once I started seeing the doctors...'your babies arent healthy, 2 NST's per week (which irritated my uterus so I had to go to L and D twice). One of the ultrasound techs put me flat on my back for the exam and I puked all over. I told him that I felt sick, I was practically choking on stomach juices from heartburn, but he didnt offer to incline the table.
It was fun to show everyone the US pictures, my mom and SIL swore up and down that I was having twins even before I knew.

I found out at my 20 week us. I didn't measure big before, but I think I measured a little big at my last appointment before my us, probably 18 weeks. My doc is cautious & we don't do a lot of prenatal tesing, so I think he decided it was better to find out for sure before he scared me to death. He actually laughed at me when I called him after the us (he's been our family doc for years, so we have a pretty close relationship) Anyway, the reason he laughed so hard is that we had been trying off/on for 4 years to get pg again. I had one m/c in there, and he kept trying to talk us into getting a little help. I know, some of you are laughing, it gets funnier, I told him I would be happy with my one healthy child rather than risk a multiple birth!! :) The joke was on me I guess, God knew I was only doing this once more!! Oh, here's the funniest part of all.... my then 5 year old son was telling everyone he was going to have a brother AND a sister, long before we found out it was twins. In fact, we brought him to the us to let him see & when the tech told us it was twins my son said "see I told you there was more than 1 baby in there!!"

Well, we did IVF, so you always get ultrasounds at 6 weeks. My HcG levels were very high, though, so we had a suspicion before that. I'll never forget my RE saying "I'd bet the farm you have twins in there" right before my appointment began. Well, we had triplets - he was wrong!

I had an ultrasound when I was 8 weeks along because I was having some serious cramping, and there were the two sacs and the two little shrimp-looking embryos on the screen! I was floored, even though my mother had said to me two weeks prior that she had a strong feeling I was going to have twin girls (and of course, she was right all around!).

I found out at 8 weeks. We had been on a cycle of Clomid and had a specific u/s to determine "how many." I actually did not think I was having twins and my OB said I had a 4 percent chance being on the lowest dosage of Clomid.

We found out through U/S at 10 weeks, but I knew long before that, I don't now how I knew, but I did. I even told people and they just laughed at me. I also knew it was boy and a girl, and I also can't explain why or how. Isn't it great how mommies just have a radar for these things ;)

I found out at about 6 weeks because I was in extreme pain and had gone to the ER. I had a dream around the moment of conception that I had twins, but I had brushed it off...I was so shocked when I found out!!!

I had the same thing happen. I dreamed it and then found out by ultrasound @ 7 weeks.

We found out we were having twins at our 8 week ultrasound. I thought DH was going to fall out of his chair. We were so surprised because we had lost a set of twins on 11/28/05 and got pregnant again in late January '06. We were going to wait three months before we started trying again but I guess God had other plans.

My mom has always told me I was going to have twins even before I was married. She said it was just something she felt in her heart. DH and I were very nervous during the first trimester and prayed we would have two healthy babies this time. I still can't believe it sometimes. I am so glad God blessed me with twins.

We found out at 7 weeks. My ob did an ultrasound due to a larger fundal (?) height than expected that far along. First we saw one little bean and then she moved the wand over and we saw the other! My husband was with me and it was the most amazing experience. I couldn't stop shaking with excitement and nerves the rest of the appointment. The funny thing is that a week after I found out I was pg (and before I knew I was having twins), I was on the beach in FL on vacation and kind of "talking" to the baby. All of a sudden, I heard clear as day in my head "I'm a girl, I'm a girl". Turns out, I did in fact have two girls in there - weird

I had a miscarriage in Jan and found out I was prego in March. I wasn't super sure of my dates. I started showing at around 9 weeks. My mom saw me at a wedding when I was 15 weeks and asked me if I was sure my dates were right. I had a Dr. apt a few days later and voiced my concerns. My Dr. told me that I had just popped and I was measuring just fine. The next appointment was on my 30th birthday, and I was 20 wks. My Dr. came in to the room and just looked at me funny. I was like, "I'm big aren't I?" She just looked at me again, and then said I really think there might be 2 in there. Hubby and I were like no way!!!! I just kept asking her why she wouldn't just think I was farther along. She said that my sudden growth spurt made her think 2. I wasn't supposed to have my u/s until 22 weeks, but she moved it up. We spent the weekend joking around about "if it was twins" thinking it was the funniest thing and in no way a reality. At my u/s I told the tech we were there to "rule out" twins. She put the wand on my belly and laughed. Theres a head and theres a head, so twins it is!!! Hubby and I were like HOLY CRAP!!!!! I cried for about a week and then I realized how many women would give anything for one baby and here God had blessed me with 2. I can't imagine only one baby now, it would just be so sad!!!!

We found out at 7 weeks. We were on our 3rd and final IVF and I had been having a lot of spotting so they brought me in for an u/s. I had a high hcg, so I had that in the back of my mind, but I was afraid it was three, since that's what we had transferred. I figured it was either three or one, since three I thought would have been too overwhelming and I didn't want an only child, and this was probably our only chance at children. Our dreams came true when the dr. said it was 2 :D We couldn't be happier, right from the get-go. I can't imagine it any other way.

The week after transfer, before we knew any embryos had stuck, my best friends mother had a dream that I was pregnant with twins.

I found out at 11 weeks. I was measuring super big. I measured very large with our first baby - the one with the abnormalities that died in utero - thus I was really worried when my MD said I was measuring large. We had an U/S at 11 weeks and we saw two peanuts moving around in there!

I found out at 18 weeks 3 days, at a routine mid pg. u/s.

There was no cause to believe there were twins. I had put on 3 pounds at 17 weeks and measured right on target.

We were doing our very last round of IVF. We had decided if that month did not work, after three m/c and all of the termoil, that would be it, and we would leave it in God's hands to decide what our family would be.
The low and behold, we came back +, and at 5 wks, 6 days, had the u/s. DH saw the first and said to the tech, ok, now find the second. Which she did ;) Then DH said, check to see if the third is in there. (But there wasn't) The tech was excited because she had been doing our scans for over a year, and we were her first multiple scan she had ever done. She was almost as excited as we were.
We weer very nervous, but told his family first at 11 weeks were were pregnant at his sister's wedding in NC. The told my parent at 13 weeks it would be twins because the greatest change of problems had past for m/c one.
I also found out very early for A too. I started with morning sickness almost immediately, which made me wait four days to be able to do a OTC test, then retest, then blood work and recheck for levels. It's just amazing.

I was spotting around six weeks and went for an US. My bloodwork levels really jumped from one day to the next, so I jokingly asked the tech if she was sure there was just one. She said yeah, she thought so, but still had to finish looking around. Two seconds later, she said, "nope, there's two". I almost fell off the table and thankfully my husband was sitting. He was white as a sheet! Funny thing is, when I first found out I was pregnant and we told my son we were having a baby, he said he didn't want one, he wanted two. He insisted on two until we had the US and we told him was right! BTW, no fertility drugs or intervention, just naturally happening.
