what tests will i have that will differ from a single pregnancy? i think that the only one i remember and hated the most was the glucos test, because my second pregnancy i threw up the drink because of the taste of it. i don't like orange flavored drinks at all and that was the only kind they had. but anyway, i would like to know what test that i will get this time around or that i have the option to or not to have.
    lots of love!

We were offered the CVS test and aminio with these babies but did not do those- we did do the nuchal translucency ultrasound but not the bloodwork (my baby B was measuring large and they said that because she is a bigger baby that the results would be off and we would just worry the whole time) I go to the maternal fetal medicine specialists
(peri.) and they keep a way closer check on these babies than I ever had with my single babies - I had to have an ultrasound at every OB
visit up until the past 2 weeks when they started doing the non stress tests which measure the babies heartrates and any contractions you may have.
(And even now if both babies won't cooperate with the non stress test - they do an ultrasound)
the peri also does growth scans to make sure both babies are growing
at a good rate which at this point they are doing every 10 days.
and the peri does a bpp (biophysical profile) that is an ultrasound that checks the babies movements, tone, practice breathing. I did have to have all of the regular tests of pregnancy! the glucose test is one of them! I don't like the orange drink either - my sister in law
was lucky and her OB had grape!! you may want to ask if they can order you a grape one! SO I guess to make a long story even longer -
you will have all the normal tests plus you will be offered others - some that they may tell you that a twin pregnancy may affect the results possibly making them abnormal and others carry some risks -
my OB gave me choices when it came time. I have learned more about being pregnant and things that I took for granite with my single babies with this pregnacy!! It has been AMAZING!! I have been to the doctor LOTS more this time!! every 2 weeks (we staggered our OB and peri appts) until the past couple of weeks and it is twice a week now!

Other than your regular singleton stuff, you should just have more ultrasounds and non stress tests. That's all we did differently!

Heather laid it out pretty well. I would say most of the same tests, but more frequently.

Oh, and I had the Sprite flavored one - it wasn't bad at all, tasted like flat Sprite
