I just pre-ordered a couple of days ago. I wasn't going to do it because of the $$$, but I knew that I would end up buying it anyway, so I just took the plunge.

 :woohoo: :clapping: :yahoo: :drinks:

BTW, New Moon started filming this past Monday, the 12th. Not sure if you any of you belong to the twilight fan site www.thetwilightsaga.com but they have a thread with pics from the set where they are filming the movie. I have to say that I'm just amazed at how many of these young actors smoke. Let's see, who had a cig in hand...

    Kristen
    Rob
    Nikki
    Emmette
the actor who plays Dr. Cullen (forgot his name)

EEEWWWWW (and this is from an x-smoker). I'm just so sad to see so many of the young acting population smoking. Bleh. (sorry don't mean to offend any smokers!!!)

    Cheater! :p

I won't do the bootleg copy thing. It's illegal and monitarily effects the people who did the really hard work to make the films (including SM who I would imagine gets a percentage from the sales of the dvds unless she had a one time pay off for the rights to make the movie).

I will wait for my legit copy. But then again, I guess if I was as in love with Edward as you are that I may feel differently. It's amazing what people will do to get a fix on of their drug of choice

Actually. And this may shock all of you. but. well.
    Her it goes.
I'm falling out of love with Edward Cullen.

Because I sort of like this other guy...
And this one's a real guy.
    Ironically his name is Jacob.

but enough about that. None of you want to hear about that now do you. My life is much too boring.
But anyways, my sister keeps teasing me. (Monica)
However I'm quite lucky actually because Gena doesn't know. If she ever knew, she would look up his number in the school directory just to call him and tell him I like him.
I know. Evil little girl. Danica would just be all "Whatever" and not care. Dakota would not know who or what I was talking about and would ask me why I was telling this to him. Monica as we already know teases me.
Somehow I always tell her even though I know she will tease me. We tell eachother everything, though.

Whoops. Sorry about my personal life again.
umm...you really don't have to read that if you don't want. However maybe it will dull your shock.

but enough about that. None of you want to hear about that now do you. My life is much too boring. Not true Evelyn. But hearing that you like someone real is definitely more interesting than listening to you go on and on about a fictional character! It's also much healhtier :good:

OK all of you fans - need your help.

I am throwing my DD a Twilight DVD Release Party on Saturday. Made up cute invitations (fridge magnet style). The girls are invited to arrive at Twilight :D

I am not going to go crazy, but thought I would do a little something with snacks & a favor to take home.

Give me all of your ideas please.

ETA - I will be making a "Welcome to Forks" sign for the front gate.

We are having one too, but do to un-changable plans...we have to wait a couple of weeks...anyway.

My thoughts were all RED & BLACK decor. Red & black food/drinks. Everyone should wear red/black, you get the idea.

For favors, you could take pics with a digital camera of all the girls together - print them and they can take them home, see if you can find cheap frames? I'm not doing favors here.

Hmmm... just a silly thought but....maybe you could buy them all plain white shirts or tank tops or something like that and some shirt paint or permanent markers and let them all design their own shirts to mark the occassion (you know with the date on it and some sort of slogan or picutre about the movie or the event).

On the back, they could write the date of the release party and all the names of who attended. It will bond them for life! They will feel so proud to walk around wearing their momentous shirts (unless they are too old for that and think it's tacky???).

For food, definitely have to have some red apples to represent the cover of the book (could be a nice center piece for the table!) and other than that I would just do whatever kinds of snacks the girls will like. You could also give each girl (or boy???) some sort of bottle of sparkling or shimmering body lotion. I know there are lots of different companies that make that kind of thing and I don't believe they are expensive at all.

Man, I wish my girls were older so that I could share this exciting time with them! Have a blast and if I come up with anything else I'll post it.

I also have to say that the picture of the group, holding the dvd or something and framing them could be very cute too!! (Great idea from pp)

I will be one of the first people in the door of our Walmart when they open on Saturday! LOL! I can't wait to see the movie, I'm just a little nervous I'll be disappointed because the movie is never as good as the book. My closest friend and I are planning a "girls" night to watch the movie together. Saturday really can't get here fast enough! LOL!

Trish...YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE YET??? lol

Seriously, do not expect it to be as good as the book. I went in with low expectations for the movie and I think it actually helped me to enjoy the movie more as I found myself pleasantly surprised that it was pretty good considering they had a really low budget and a director who doesn't have a whole lot of experience. My copy comes in the mail on Saturday so you know what I'll be doing Saturday night. I'm so excited to see the deleted scenes!!! I watched the trailer yesterday for the first time in a long time and started to feel sooooooooooo pumped up!!!

Here it is for anyone who was a a little refresher :D

No I haven't! I'd made plans to go see it twice when it was still in the theaters but both times it fell through. I was sooo bummed!!! So now I'm super excited it's finally coming to DVD! LOL!! I saw a couple different trailers and can already tell they changed a few things from the book. Which kinda bugs me because the book was so perfect. Hollywood seems to do that a lot though. The thing that really gets me the most is the whole tree thing, they never once scaled a tree in the book. I'm definitely trying to keep my expectations low.

  13. double-or-nothing

Oh be prepared then because there is actually an entire scene that wasn't even in the book and they changed a lot of locations of where certain scenes took place but they had to do that because you can only watch two people have so many conversations in the biology room or in a car, ykwim?

It was definitely an entertaining movie but don't expect it to be nearly as amazing as the book. My dh didn't read the books and he really enjoyed it so they did a descent job in making sure that the film would also hold the interest of those who had never read the book.

MY COPY DIDN'T COME TODAY!!! I checked on my Amazon account, and it said I would receive it on 3/25. What is the point of preordering it?!?!?! I was so mad. So I called Amazon and cancelled my order, and I will be at Target at 8:00am tomorrow to get my copy. The only good thig about this situation is that the one at Target has a free iTunes download of the movie, so I can get it on my iPod too. But grrrrrrrrrr

I have my copy!!!!!!! I was the first person through the doors of our Walmart this morning! For a second I thought about standing in line at our local Borders to get it at midnight but quickly changed my mind. The thought of being one of the oldest people surrounded by a bunch of crazed teenagers wasn't my idea of fun. LOL! I guess for once it pays to not have a Walmart Supercenter!

I'm so sorry Shelly, that is really a bummer! I almost preordered it on Amazon a week ago but decided not incase something like that happened.

All's well now, I got my 3-disc Special Edition with the iTunes download. And the best news of all, DH said he will watch it with me tonight!!! He has been totally anti-Twilight (can you say jealousy! :)) so I was very surprised when he offered. But of course, I have already watched it once today. I wish we all lived close so we could have a big Twin/Twilight party!

Sarah!!! Don't shoot you because you have to wait until you have money to be able to afford your copy??? :unknw: I'm just so sorry that things are so tight for you guys. Who cares about the movie...it's just a movie. The only reason I could afford it now is because we pre-ordered it back when dh had a job LOL. Trust me, aint no buying of anything going on around here. Dh starts work again on Monday but we are in the hole so trust me, I know about money being tight. You will get it when you get it and I just have to say, other than the movie itself, you're not missing much. I was very disappointed with the "extended scenes/deleted scenes." There was only one deleted scene that I loved but other than that it was lame <_< And it's funny but the more I see the movie, the cheesier it seems to get. To be honest, I'm glad that Catherine is not directing the next one. I know she didn't have much budget and all but some of the acting was just so bad and the music that they put in certain scenes made it a little corny and some of the lighting and angles were weird. The more you watch a movie, the more you start to pick up on the minute details, kwim? Overall I love it but it doesn't replace any of the LOTR movies as my favorites!!!

I am utterly disgusted with Hollywood! Catherine Hardwicke did a horrible job directing that movie! I am very greatful she isn't doing New Moon, I actually have a glimmer of hope that the second book won't be butchered! I tried going into the movie with low expectations knowing it was never going to be as good as the book, but little did I know I was still over shooting. The best scene in the book (the meadow) was competely rush with very little emotion, it was all wrong!!! That was supposed to be the moment Edward knew he was stronge enough, the pivotal point in their relationship. I feel they took out some very key points in even getting to that position. The book talks about the change that happens in Edward when he falls in love with Bella and that was never portrayed. I really hate how they shot the meeting of the family, they certianly didn't seem pleased to meet Bella. The acting was horrific, Edward came off like a jerk and there was no sweetness about Bella, she didn't come off like the caretaker she is. Everything was too melodramatic between them, I didn't feel the true love connection or the passion. IMO there were many things cut that was important in understanding the force that drove them together and why they couldn't stay away from each other. I truely feel sorry for the people that watch the movie and never read the book, they're really missing the true essence of the story. That movie truely doesn't do the book justice!

Awww man Trish, so sorry you were THAT disappointed. It really is a let down when a book so great is made into a movie that doesn't even begin to hold up to the true story. It's a shame that a more experienced director with a bigger budget wasn't given the project to do it and I totally wish they had made the movie 2 plus hours so that they could have fit more scenes in the movie that would have made it a lot smoother and slower so that the intensity of the relationships could be felt but alas, it's done and over with so no poinit in woulda shoulda coulda. Like you said, lets just hope the next movie is done much better and that the overactors *ahem RP ahem* can bring it down a notch.

I agree the RP definitely overacted, but I think that KS was even worse! And like you said, the more I watch it, the more cheesy it is to me. Don't get me wrong, I still love it and will watch it over and over, but I definitely hope that the next movies are less cheesy and more thorough.

They both were pretty bad! It makes me wonder how much of it was their acting ability (or lack there of), and how much of it was the script and director. Hopefully it was the script and director. :)

I heard the new director may take the movie New Moon in a different direction then the book. Something about Edward being in more of the movie then what he was in the book. I really hope he don't do that, isn't the whole point of the book waiting for Edward to come back and to show how much they can't live without each other. OMG! They haven't even started filming yet and here I am obsessing! LOL! It'll be interesting to see how they're going to portray Volterra, I sure hope the budget for this movie is much bigger then Twilight.

ETA: I just saw that they're planning on making Eclipse into a film and is tentatively scheduled for release on June 30, 2010. Because New moon is going to still be in post-production Chris Weitz will not be directing it. Hmmmm, Interesting!

Oh no! I hope that Edward is not in New Moon too much, it would ruin it!

And I agree Trish. I definitely think the acting was bad in some parts, and even some of the script. For example, the scene where Edward explains to Bella how her scent is like a drug for him because its the most intoxicating blood scent for him (and so on and so on) was written so well in the book. This exchange between them was so heartfelt and not silly in the least. However, in the movie, I felt that it was botched scene. The dialogue was so pared down that it ended up being more cheesy... "You are like a drug to me..." I even  in the movie theater. But in the book, its an amazing moment.

Mel, I know the feeling. Glad he is starting tomorrow. How awesome!

You guys, I broke down and bought it at Target today! Watched it tonight! I thought, now that I have read the books and watched it on the little screen that yes it does go slowly and some of the acting is a little cheesy (or over the top even) BUT something about RP and KS together embodies Edward and Bella to me.... and I think also its the music paired with the timing and sequence of Hardwicke's scenes... does that make sense?

Yay Sarah!!! Glad you finally got it. And I'm glad you liked it. I personally thought the chemistry between them was pretty good on camera. Some people feel there was zero chemistry. It's just amazing how different people can view a film. About the music, I wasn't sure what you were saying. Were you saying it helped their chemistry or that it made it cheesy.

Funny thing is, when I was watching it on DVD Friday night, that was when I realized that I felt that it was the music that was actually making certain scenes that were suppose to be very intimate and intense, a little cheesy. Don't really love some of the music choices and that coupled with some of the camera angles just made it all a little strange to me. But again, to each his own. The movie is okay. Not horrible, not great (IMO). Will I watch it again? yes. Will I watch it over and over and over again? probably not.

I have a feeling New Moon is going to be a lot better. I just hope that they don't add too much Edward into it because that would really piss me off. I'm looking forward to seeing the relationship between Bella and Jacob develop. I have a feeling those two will lots of chemistry on screen.
