I have to say that TrueBlood is probably the first HBO series I have ever really gotten into (althought I did watch Sapranos for the first two seasons). I'm surprised with myself because there are so many incredible series that they have done. I have heard Enterauge (sp?) is great as well as some others. I have watched several episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm which cracks me up but I can't say I was ever addicted to watching it every single week.

I think it's interesting that they have taken a book series and actually made some of it better in a tv program. Big kuddos to them. That is not easy to do. They have some brilliant writers on that show.

I think you are right. :good: I love Entourage and Curb Your Enthusiasm. :woo: I couldn't get into one of their new shows In Therapy or something like that. :pardon: Or that other one they had about 1.5 years ago... it was VERY sexually graphic. Does anyone remember?

Me too! I am actually watching it for like 16th time right now on demand. Its the last season and I will still cry my eyes out when Nate dies!

I forgot I can watch it on demand.

The one with the older lady sex therapist? And it had her doing some sex scenes too?!? I have been trying to remember the name of that show for a week now! It just popped into my head the other day for some reason and I cant think of it to save my life...(not the naked old lady, but the show  )

FTR, In Treatment is pretty good, but you have to give it time to grow on you. Nothing like Deadwood or Rome or anything though(still pissed about that), but good.

I enjoyed the season opener but was disappointed. I'm really sad they aren't sticking to the books closer, I definitely enjoyed the books more. My biggest beef so far with the is with Eric, I'm the BIGGEST Eric and Sookie fan. I feel Alan Ball is taking the small pro Eric moments out of the the 1st and 2nd books/seasons. The first time Eric showed any remote feeling or concern for Sookie was when he killed Long Shadow, but that was changed. Now with Lafayette still alive and no orgy Eric won't be called upon to help her out. We aren't seeing any of the positive sides of Eric, and how is the audience going to accept him when the time comes? Personally, I can't wait for the 3rd season to get rid of Bill, he's sooo boring! ;) Sorry Bill fans!

I think Maryann killed Miss Jeanette but at this point, my go to theory is it's all somehow Maryann's fault.

    I agree!

Anyone else laugh when Eric came down with the highlight foils on his hair? :rotflmbo: Hilarious! I guess I thought he was the head hancho of Vamps and to see him getting his hair did was funny!
Yes... and I think something will be up with her too.

    This cracked me up!

Beware the show should state an idea loosely based on the Stackhouse books. I actually enjoy the books more than the show. I'm not really into all the sex scenes I guess, but heck it's HBO. Books have them too, but I guess it's only as vivid as you want it to be.
The dvr is the best investment we've made. We've given up alot of luxurys recently but I refuse to let it go and one movie channel. Still cheaper than eating out and a movie!

I have to agree about the DVR. I was really upset because we had a plan for a year that allowed us to have HBO, DVR, etc for a great deal and I took the twins in to the cable office with me to return my precious DVR box and I don't know if was their cuteness or what but the lady signed me up for an even better deal for another year and now I pay less a month than I did last year. I was so excited and showered her with many many thanks because now I would be able to watch True Blood.....she just laughed and told me she was glad she could help. I wish this would work on the rest of our monthly bills...maybe the power company would cut our bill in half.....

I enjoyed the season opener. I just rewatched it tonight. I have a theory about Maryanne.....During the scene with Tara and the hottie by the pool, she talks about the mural of Pan and his female lover...Could she possibly be the female lover? I think she is some kind of demi-god or something along those lines, there is just something about all the food/fruit. Just thinking outloud.

That's a great theory, I wonder if that will part of her backstory. Not sure if AB (count me in as another SFU lover, the final episode had me in tears!) is going to follow the books regarding Maryanne, so she could be a demi god and perhaps was Pan's lover. I am really curious as to her involvement with Tara and Eggs.

    Loved it!

Okay... I like Bill alot more when he's evil. :diablo: And when they were in the store was hysterical with the hair! I think I like Eric more like that?

So, do you guys think they are making Lafayette a vamp? I'm not sure because all three of them attacked... which was pretty awesome.

Maryann.... I think whoever said she's some kind of God seems to be right. :spiteful:

I loved all the Eric in this episode!!!!   I'm also really digging the short hair, it looks much better on Alexander Skarsgard then the long hair. Now he embodies the hotness of Eric! LOL! OK, OK, I'll stop drooling!

I also think Lafayette will turn vamp. If they were going to kill him off I think they would of done it by the book.

I think Maryann is the Maenad in the book, but I think Alan Ball is portraying her differently then Charlaine Harris's idea of a Maenad. It'll sure be interesting to see how it all unfolds.

I do agree about Eric. :spiteful: Feel free to keep on drooling.

Here's a link to wikipedia about Maenads.

In the book the Maenad had a different name and she walk through the forest with a wild boar. She also fed on lust, drunkenness, and prideful men. She would go from place to place seeking tribute, and if it wasn't given she'd cause major problems until she got it.

I could literally go on and on all night about the hotness of Eric! LOL! ;)

Are they running episodes on HBO.com or Hulu? I am sorry you can't watch :(

Always drooling over the hotness of Eric. I loved the scene where he asks Lafayette if he has blood in his hair and when Lafayette says "A little", Eric replies, "Pam is going to be mad." So funny. I also loved it in the mall when he is like, "Hi Bill. It's the new me."
I am really hoping that Lafayette does become a vampire. Bill is really mad at Sookie. Not that I blame him, he is really in a pickle with Jessica and her family now.
What do you think is up with Jason and that guy Luke? Do you think Jason is going to make it with the Fellowship of the Sun? I can't see him lasting long at all (I hope he doesn't and I appreciated the shirtless Jason shot last night too).

Ugh...I hate the wait until the next sunday night!!

I know she is going to turn out to be a bad guy, but I love Maryann's character. And I agree that she is some kind of demi-god...that's what DH told me she was in the series. I thought is was hysterical how she turned Sam into the dog! Eric is growing on me too, there's a lot to develop in his and Sookie's relationship. And what is up with Daphne? I can't figure our where her story line is going, but there must be some reason she's there.

And I totally think Lafayette will be made into a vampire, with his attitude and whit he would make a great one!!! And if he isn't I think they would have killed him off already. Jason, he looks like a total moron now, I don't think his Jesus streak will last long, you can tell by the flashbacks he is having. But durn, he looks mighty fine without a shirt on!!

I agree about the maenad thing. just read the wikipidia thing and this statement describes to a tee what happened last night:

Their name literally translates as "raving ones". Often the maenads were portrayed as inspired by him into a state of ecstatic frenzy, through a combination of dancing and drunken intoxication.

I think they will turn Lafayette into a vamp. He will make a great and very funny one! Man was Bill pissed at Sookie. About time for a change LOL Wonder just how angry he will remain with her. Maybe now he will make her go with Eric and help him as retribution for screwing things up so badly. As for Jason, it looks like something is going to go down with that preachers wife. I'm guessing that Luke is not liking him because maybe he was hooking up with her before Jason came along and now he realizes that he's going to be yesterday's man. There's something very unkosher about that camp.

Oh that camp is seriously creepy...and that song, was it called "Jesus Take Me Out on a Date"? Reminds me of the songs Cartman came up with when he had his band Faith Plus One

:good: that's what I was thinking as well. But I didn't put Luke with the preacher's wife. Good call.

I would love Lafayette as a vampire. I was loving how he was selling himself.

Enjoy Chrissy. And...it is far from cheesy as you must have realized. The writing is brilliant, the story is engaging and the characters are addicting and leave you wanting more and more from each and everyone of them. Can't wait to hear what you think about it. Dh and I didn't catch on to season one until episode 13. We had the whole season on Demand so we started watching it and were hooked from the season opener. I was actually really happy that we had missed so many episodes because it was so great to be able to watch 2 or 3 episodes a night. It's like a soap opera and leaves wanting to know what happens next and I loved not having to wait. Now we have to wait every week like everyone else and it's soooooooooo hard.

And I think I have decided to read the series...From what I have heard the series is really loosly based on the books and doesn't really follow it all that closely. Of course, I have to finish reading New Moon, which I don't really care for, a little too teenage sappy for me, but I am hooked. :)

Yes, the show is very loosely based on the books. I am reading them now (I think I'm on the 7th book now) and they are enjoyable but I think the show does the characters way better. Enjoy the books!

Yep, another great one. I love how bad a$$ Sookie gets with Eric. She could care less that he could kill in a matter of seconds LOL.

I think that it was Maryann who became that beast and attempted to kill Sookie. She doesn't want Tara to go live with her so I'm sure it was her attempt to stop that from happening but it looks like Tara is "opening" her eyes to the strangeness going on around her.

One thing I was confused about was Daphanie. How was she walking around with those cuts on her back from the beast? Shouldn't she be dying from the poinson?

I thought the scene with Jessica and (what's his name?) was so sweet. I have to say that Jessica is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters. She is such a talented actress.

As for Jason, sorry but those scenes are rather boring to me. It seems like something major will eventually come of it but I find myself longing for those scenes to be over. I liked Jason so much more when he was running around screwing everything that moved. He was more interesting then. ;)

Oh, and I'm pi$$ed that they are "Taking a break?" What the heck is that crap??? So now we have to wait two weeks for a new episode?? That annoys the crap out of me. They had long enough to film the episodes so why are they doing this? This was something about Lost that use to pi$$ me off (the repetition of previous episodes, ugh).

I was thinking about that as well. Maybe Daphne is one of MaryAnn's "people" and is out there to distract (forgot his name! :gah:) Merlotte dude. :pardon: So Tara can stop opening her eyes. Though that doesn't answer the scratches. Not sure.

I am so annoyed there is no new episode next week but I figure it is because of the 4th of July weekend, maybe they figure a lot of people wouldn't be watching. Though I would so be there. Eric Northman needs to be on my TV every Sunday night.
I don't know what the deal is with Daphne, is she one of Maryanne's people who is doing Maryanne's bidding by going after Sam?
I agree Jessica and Hoyt are sweet together, she is a beautiful actress and a great character. Loved how Bill is acting like a typical father to her. And his dismay over clothes that are being sold out there today and that he likes clothes that leave a little mystery to the girl...then I'm like, hypocrite much? Sookie is barely dressed most of the time!
Disappointed Lafayette is not a vamp but the previews show Eric visiting him, so I wonder where they are going with all that.
I liked Sookie standing up to Eric, that was funny. I think Eric actually liked it!
I think Maryanne was the creature that attacked Sookie...and why is Tara so important to her????

 That is so true...I don't like this trying to be a goodie goodie Jason. Those Light of Day people are beyond cheesy!!

You guys are asking a lot of the same questions that I have been...mainly what is up with Daphne?!!! I told DH right before she pulled her shirt off to expose the scratches that she was the monster, (whatever that thing was) but when I saw the scratches it kinda blew my theory out of the water.

I love how Sookie stands up to Eric. You can so see the spark igniting between those two, well, at least on Eric's part. I was actually getting a little annoyed by Bill last night, but maybe it was just the acting, I don't know. :nea:

And we have to wait 2 weeks???!!!!! So not fair!
