Ember had an awesome night last night. 7pm down 3am awake. 3:30 down 7:30 up.
Kaeda on the other hand.. 7pm down 11pm up 11:30 down 3:30 up. And then every 45 minutes until morning..

Now, our next hurdle is getting the girls into the same room.

For diaper rash... we use a cream called Calmoseptine. It used to be by prescription only but now you can get it at the pharmacy over the counter. It was introduced to me in the hospital when my DS (12 yrs ago) and was so sensitive he would bleed. It works miracles! Good luck!

Cheli, the girls aren't in the same room? That may be part of the problem, My twins do not sleep well without the other. Until 2 weeks ago right about 7 months they were in the same crib. They would start out the night at each end of the cribs and in the morning head to head or holding hands. They need each other for comfort.

Until this week we've had them both in the pack n play in the living room. We put Ember in the crib but some how Kaeda never made it there and she's been in the pack n play. So they've been together but separated by a divider until this week. And we thought that maybe them being in the same room was part of the problem but now I'm not so sure

I think it just depends on the babies whether they need separated or not...you will just have to trial and error perhaps. Mine definitely do better separated as they wake each other with the cries. However,I have heard that some like the comfort of their twin. Which I think is so unbelievably sweet:)

So glad to hear that they are getting better. I didn't comment earlier bc I didn't feel the need to repeat what everyone else said, but keep in mind that all that fusses isn't reflux. I had 1 with reflux and 1 who didn't, and neither of them slept until I followed HSHHC. They were way overtired and once I made changes they were like new babies. If they are eating well and not puking, don't assume that their problems are caused by reflux.

Some of their issues is definitely reflux.. they spit up after every meal and apparently it may have gotten worse because of their Elecare which is extremely thin so we're thickening it with a thickener to see if that helps now.

I've been wondering if probiotics would help. Here's a little article by our ped: http://drjenna.wordpress.com/

I'm glad to hear things are improving! It's amazing how even just a little bit of extra sleep makes a huge difference!

We used probiotics with our guys because of their reflux. That alone did not help, but the probiotics combined with other reflux things did (Prevacid, thickened formula, keeping them upright for 30 min. after eating, propping up their beds). The probiotics we used are called Primadophilus Children. We got it at the local health food store, but you can also buy it online. Just mix in with one of their bottles daily (I always picked one I was fairly sure they would finish so they would get all the probiotics if possible).

I think it's interesting how over the top some docs have gone for reflux these days. When I did my residency training, they reserved Elecare for kids with malabsorption due to short gut, etc. Thickening helps with choking, gagging or if they are puking so much that they don't gain weight, but some babies will always spit up regardless of what formula they are on and what meds they are on. My DS will still "urp" at 20 months if I let him eat too much. He's not on any meds and eats everything. In fact, he was breastfed, so we never walked the road of $50 cans of formula! I ate everything and he weaned off meds at 12 months.

The girls aren't on Elecare for the reflux they are on elecare because they are allergic to soy and milk proteins and every other formula has one or the other aside from the Amino Acid Based formula. For their reflux we are thickening formula with a thickener (not rice cereal) and are following reflux precautions.

What are you using to thicken? My pedi has me thickening EBM with rice cereal. It does work but I dont like the idea of rice so early. I never start any solids before 6 mo and then make my own.

We are using Thick It. It's made for patients who have swallowing issues to help make sure they don't aspirate. It doesn't add any calories to their formula and it hasn't caused any GI issues and seems to have helped with the reflux as well.

Our Walgreens sells it in the pharmacy section or most pharmacies can order for you and you can pick it up through them.
