I had the same thing my first trimester. Started shortly after I found out we were having twins. My RE put me on bedrest until the bleeding stopped. I had an appt. with my OB ASAP. You do not have to wait to be released to go see an OB!! And my OB was happy to fit me into his schedule anytime I had problems. I spent a month on bedrest due to the bleeding/clots. It finally stopped in the second trimester. My OB also referred me to the Peri who was less concerned about the bleeding then my OB. I actually saw my OB weekly until about 18 weeks. I saw the Peri the remainder of my pregancy as well as my OB.

Thanks. I know I don't *have* to wait, but that is just the way the RE does it. She sees patients and then releases them--asks them to wait until release to see OB. It is so hard to get into my OB that when i called last week, the soonest I could get in was Nov 8th and that was with saying I had to be seen w/i a week of my NT (the appointment is next week). If things don't settle down to my comfort zone by this weekend I will call Monday and talk to my OBs nurse and see if she can get me in sooner than the 8th. The perinatologists here work on consult so I would have to have a referral from my OB (or I suppose my RE) but I will probably wait until I see the OB first.

If you call an OB and tll them you are bleeding and cramping and how much you are bleeding...plus PG with twins, they should see you right then and there. Mine did and I was only 6.5 weeks along.

An RE is a reproductive endocrinologist. You see them for fertility treatments, and they are very good at getting people pregnant and keeping them pregnant. They keep you for the first trimester generally to give you extra monitoring.

Thanks so much. The bleeding is slowing down and is now heavy spotting. I'm going to try to rest most of the weekend and see how things go. I now have a lovely chest cold to add to the mix, ugh. Oh well.
