We have a suburban and I love it. It fits all of us very comfortably. The cargo area is very roomy also I was able so far to get two double jogging strollers in there and then some. It is horrible on gas but I wouln't trade it for anything but another suburban.

We had a Toyota 4Runner (and it didn't have enough room for us), but now we have a Honda Odyssey -- it is so wonderful. I never thought I would like a mini van, but it is great! It has so much room. We can put the twins in their seats and still fit four more adults plus a driver. And the room in the trunk is unbelievable. It is really easy to get in and out of too with the automatic doors...highly recommend.

We had a Tahoe, but I didn't want all of the kids sitting in one row. Now, we have added the Honda Odyssey. We were completely against getting a mini-van and now sometimes we're still in denial. We do not refer to it as the minivan, but as the Odyssey. ;-)

I had a Hyundai Tucson which worked fine until we put in their convertible car seats. The front passenger had to sit so close to the windshield. Last weekend we purchased a Chrysler Pacifica. I would have been fine with a minivan but DH was totaly against it. What is nice about the pacifica is that there are three rows and the second row is two buckets seats so if we need the third row when we have company, it is easily accessible. The only down side is that there is little room if the third row is up. We just keep it down and it will be perfect for company.

This is humbling. With 4 kids - Minivan all the way for around town. For trips over 2 hrs? We also bought a 95 conversion Dodge Van which is a LIFE SAVER! COULD not live with out it!

Good luck with whatever you get!

We have both a Volvo XC70 (wagon) and an XC90 (SUV with 3rd row seat). When it's just me and the kids, we drive the wagon and it works great. I love that the wagon has built-in booster seats, which makes it much easier to haul my 4 year old plus 2 infant seats for the twins. Plenty of cargo room, as well...

XC90 I hate because of its configuration, though it's what we drive on trips when DH is with. The 3rd row is hard to access and isn't really big enough to fit an adult; cargo space is limited because of the 3rd row so we ended up putting a luggage box on top; and the built-in booster is in the center of the 2nd row, so DH has to have a car seat behind him (at 6' 2", it makes for a very tight fit!). On long trips, 4 year old goes in the way back, and with a car seat there's barely enough room for his legs, plus he's hard to get to if he needs anything!

We looked at many cars before purchasing the XC90 (already had the wagon when I found out I was having twins), and couldn't quite stomach going with a van. But if I had it to do over again....

We have a mini van. I love it! But, now with the twins and the new baby, I wish I had the bigger minivan. We are running out of space! Congrats on your babies!

Minivan! I had a GMC Jimmy which I still miss but when we found out it was twins we knew that 3 kids wouldn't fit. We bought a used Chrysler Town and Country with full stow-and-go seats. I must say, I REALLY like that feature and have used it a whole bunch of times. The split 3rd seat allows us to stow the larger part of the seat too and put more stuff in. With all the second and third row seats stowed we can fit a stack of 4x8 sheets of plywood in the back. Another advantage that I didn't think of until much later is that with "stowable" second row captain's chairs, the seats are smaller and therefore easier for this not-so-small mother's body to get around. My friend has a different van and her captain's chairs, though large and comfy, make the squeeze to the third row to buckle in a child a very tight one. Those double strollers are BIG too. I like having the space.

Don't get a Jeep. Two rear facing car seats do not fit in it well. We have one in the middle and one behind the front passenger seat. The passenger seat has to be all the way forward which means my knees touch the dash board (and I'm only 5'5") and DH always has to drive because he can't sit in the passenger seat that close to the dash board.

Ditto to this one. I have a jeep and if I weren't 5'2, I would have problems driving it. My fiancee cannot, and when he rides in it his knees are in the dash completely. (Hes 6'2!!) I'm trading in for an altima, mainly for the gas mileage, Jay drives a sentra and it works as long as we aren't going shopping or whatever (There is no Trunk space at all)

We had a Hyundai Tucson that I loved and thought we'd have plenty of room. However, when we put infant seats in the back, my husband could barely get his legs under the steering wheel. While they were in the NICU, we traded it in for a Chevy Trailblazer and I really like it. The gas mileage is about the same and it feels very sturdy and secure.

We drive a Dodge Grand Caravan and are quite pleased. We have the stow-n-go so one of the middle seats can fold completely into the floor and be flat (I have a 17 mo. old as well). He sets in the middled row bucket seat and the girls are in the back. This way I can step up into the van where the one seat is folded and I have much more room to move around.

I am not a large car person and we had been looking for another car when I was pregnant (before we found out we were having twins). I wanted something with good gas mileage and we were going to get a Prius. Then I found out we were having twins. So we figured we should get a minivan and we got a Sienna. Even though it is a larger car then I like, it is decent on gas and I like it as does DH.

I will be getting an Infinite Q56. It has two three row seats which will be great for the twins and my two other kids. I can still fit two more people too. It rides eight total. Other similar SUVs include the Toyota Sequioa, Nissan Armada, GMC Suburban, and the Buick Enclave although it's pretty tight inside.

I would have chosen a mini van too. But my husband does not like them. They are cheaper and fit a good amount of people too.

I drive an Acura MDX and to be honest, it's not that big inside even though from the outside it seems it would be plenty big enough. The carseats don't allow the driver or the passanger to be back very far....for me it's not too bad but my Dh gets irked because he is very tall and has like no leg room. The cargo space is nice though, roomy enough for snap n go, diaper bag and numerous amounts of bags.
DH has a BMW but we don't ever use it with the babies.
I'm embarresed to admit that we are actually contemplating getting a mini van.....there...I said it. I ALWAYS insisted that I would never be one of those moms who drove a minivan but honestly....it's about convienience right now. It's SUCH a pain in the rear for me to hoist those heavy carseats into the SUV and have the doors flopping in the wind. I like the idea of the roominess of the MV and the fact that the doors slide open is very appealing to me. By no means is it for the 'look' or 'coolness' of it. Oh...well....I am a mom of twins now...convienience is KEY for me.

This is how I felt about MV's and I am thinking of getting one in the near future...I have three kids all in car seats and even my big ol Durango isnt cutting it...and the gas prices! That is what finally made me think about it-I am not so cool anymore with three kids...now I am a mom that needs to be practical! :)

I have a Chevy Suburban, and I loved it until the twins came. All three kids are in the backseat, and loading and unloading is so hard, especially reaching the one in the middle that is squished between a carseat and a base. Thank god DH and I are tall or I don't know how we would get the kids all in. I swore I would NEVER get a minivan, but I can't wait until we can trade the Suburban in for one.

i didnt read the other replies, so someone might have already said this...if you get a van make sure it has sliding doors on both sides!! the van we had only had one and it was a nightmare trying to get both carseats in!! we traded it in for a new van with sliding doors on both sides and it had become MUCH easier!!
