So um, dumb question, do they catherdize you when you are delivering vaginally too??

I didn't feel it, but I think they inserted it after the epidural.

Had two. First one was with PTL and no epi so it was uncomfortable. Going in it stung and felt kind of weird but I could NOT stand the feeling once it was inflated. I felt like I had to pee for about 3 hours. Once that went away it was fine...coming out no problems.

When my water broke and i went in...had the epi and it was great...didn't feel a thing either way.

I did...I was set up for a vaginal delivery but that didn't happen. If you get an epi they do the catheder because you can't walk to the bathroom...you're numb. Plus you can't tell when your bladder is full 'cause you're numb.

No epi...don't have to get a catheder from my understanding.

It all depends on the Dr....and how close you are to delivery!

Good luck and I would ask your dr.

I don't about the others but mine hurt bad! I think it depends on who puts it in because the RN who put mine in did it in like one second and I swear it was sooooo bad. When they took it out it was no big deal, I didn't even feel it.

for those of you that had one put in... does it hurt going in or coming out?

i ask the most random questions :D

LOL - actually, for me it was a godsend b/c it meant I didn't have to hoist myself out of bed every ten minutes to pee. The 2 nights I had a catheter were my best nights of sleep in 4 months!!!!!

I had it put in after they'd given me a narcotic for pain (stadol) so I felt nothing going in. Coming out, I was on morphine, so I felt very little (other than sadness that I couldn't keep it in longer . . . I'm a freak, i know).
