Same thing here. Its a little cheaper, but then with the volunteer work involved its a lot (since Dh and I both work full time). We are just doing lots of library programs this year; we average 3-4 trips to the library a week. And I signed them up for a dance class through our town which is very reasonably priced.

Oh and one of our local farms has a mommy/daddy and me class for the fall. Its very reasonably priced but only during the week so it doesn't work for our schedule. I don't remember where the OP lives, but maybe you can look into something like that.

    What is a coop?

Talking with some moms at a playgroup last week I found out that if we put them in a preschool in one of the suburb areas outside of the city the prices are more like $75/month each. I'm going to look in to that, and I'm getting on DH about us moving next year. I feel self-conscious about it, like I'll be the only mom driving outside of the city for cheap preschool. My mother says that the preschools probably aren't as good of quality but I hope that's not true. I've got to get them in something or I'll go crazy.

Around here, the co-op's are slightly cheaper than more 'conventional' preschools, but there is always a parent there volunteering in the classroom. The downside for twin parents is since you have two kids in the class you are required to be their twice as much time volunteering. While I love the concept its still annoyingly pricey for us (for 2 1/2 hours, 2 days per week)so we'll wait for pre-k in the elementary school next year.
