Thank each and every one of you for your words, thoughts and prayers. Reading each special thought for our babies has been soo helpful for me. Thank you all again.

I feel caught in the middle of grieving for Cristian and being strong for baby Mateo as he goes through his first tough days in the NICU. I've only been able to hold him once since he was delivered. Drs say he is doing well, but will spend some time in the NICU. Mateo is on oxygen has received 2 rounds of surfactant to help his lungs mature. He hasn't opened his eyes as of yet, not sure when they do this.. maybe he is just soo uncomfortable from all the tubes and poking they are doing to him. Mateo does have a great strong spirit. he is a fighter, everyone can tell. The nurse said he lets her know every time she does something he doesn't like. We are very proud of him. The Drs are running some tests today, and if they receive the results they are looking for, Mateo will be taken off the ventilator today.

I'm trying to recover from the c-section. I didn't realize how painful it would be afterwards.. one of the most uncomfortable and painful parts is the gas. apparently its very common to have a lot of gas and not be able to pass it? I'm taking pain meds and resting between visits to see Mateo.

I'm so sorry about your loss. There are no words of comfort, just know that there are moms out there praying for your family. I hope that Mateo comes home soon and that he can help bring healing.

It's true, there are no words for a time of such loss that is countered with such joy. I'd imagine that you just don't even know how to feel right now. You have our deepest sympathy, and our deepest congratulations on your two beautiful boys. Mateo will have a very special gaurdian angel for the rest of his life, as will you and Norma. We will remember you all in out prayers tonight.

I cant express in words how sorry I am for your loss. Just know that God needed another angel up there to help him out. I am so happy to hear that Mateo is doing better and I hope that his NICU stay is short and you can have him home soon. I hope your recovery from the CS gets easier. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. By the way Cristian and Mateo are both beautiful names. Mateo is very lucky to have to two of you as parents and to have an angel twin brother looking out for him through out his life!
