I have a friend who is Elizabeth, but she NEVER goes by that. She goes by Liff. That's the first time I've ever heard that nickname. It fits too.

I personally love the name Elizabeth. The daughter I lost we named Hannah Elizabeth.

My sister is Elizabeth and my brother couldn't say her name when he was young. What he did say sounds like "Bay-Lay" . Weird huh!?! So, that was her nickname for quite awhile. I think Liza would be cute!

My Elizabeth is an Ellie. We called her that right from the start and I never thought it would become such a popular nickname. It wasn't very common when Ellie was born - it was number 187 on the top baby names in 2003. It was number 89 in 2008!

I probably replied earlier in the thread that I use Ellie for my Elizabeth. But lately we've taken to calling her Rosie from her middle name Rose. I'm sure it's from too much Caillou (show on PBS; his sister is Rosie). She's become our Rosie Posie.

I've been heard to say Ellie Beth, Rosie Beth, Ellers, even Ells...that is, when I'm not calling her by one of her sisters' names!

Well mine name is Elizabeth… my mom hated people calling me Liz… she was very firm… if I wanted her named Liz I would have named her Liz (but my mom… is a whole other post). I have a cousin -in- law named Elizabeth and she goes by Beanie/Bean (never asked why) I attempted to go by Beth… but it fizzled… but I do have a life time nickname… everyone calls me it… friends from high school, my family (especially), my DH my BIL…. Everyone… I can remember my DH yelling it across a crowed restaurant to get my attention… and everyone stopped eating and just looked (it was a scene from a comedic movie)

I am called LIZARD (thanks to a older brother)

But now that I am going to be the only female in a house hold full of males… I think i will be the Queen…

PS little kids always call me Little Bit...

Oh gosh, too funny- Bean/Beanie/Beaner is what my entire family (even extended family!) has always called me. My nam'es Becky but apparently an uncle said I had a nose like a little bean when I was born and it really, really stuck!

I like Lizzy - because I think of Elizabeth Bennett (from Pride and Prejudice) when I hear it. I love, love, love the character and her feisty attitude.

I'm going to reply without reading first, so forgive me.
Are you firm on the middle name? I've seen people combine First and middle name to make a nickname.
We know a Katherine Diane (Kadi) and Elizabeth Diane (Edie). I've always thought they were cute names. I also knew a Miriam Elizabeth who was called MeMe (or maybe it was MiMi ;) ). You might try playing around with it from that angle.
We love Elizabeth, too -- DH just couldn't convince me to name Ella "Ella Elizabeth," because I was afraid of finding out somehow that Ella was considered a derivative of Elizabeth. :D

This cracked me up. My twins are Katherine and Elizabeth but everyone calls them Kara and Ella.
