I have dealt with motion sickness my entire life and for those of you who have had a severe case of it, know that it is NOT fun! :bad:

I think that one of my poor boys, may just be taking after me in regards to motion sickness and the bus is our issue.

He is telling me that the bus makes him sick. Boy can I relate to that!! I used to feel so sick on the bus, that at one point, I was put on some sort of nausea meds and it was the prescribed stuff, not just over the counter. No one in my family remembers what it was and I don't even recall if it worked and not long after, I just found another mode to get to school.

When my sweet little boy told me tonight that "mom, the bus doesn't make me feel good, and I don't know how to feel better" my heart broke of course and I told him that we would figure it out & that I would help him.

I plan to speak with our Doc tomorrow about it but wanted to hear from you all too in the mean time. It worries me the thought of him taking some sort of meds for who knows how long and I can't drop these boys off and pick them up everyday until they learn to drive themselves. I have to help this poor boy. :(

We learned on a recent road trip that my own daughter takes after me in the motion sickness department. A few non-medical things we taught her about was sitting as close to the front of any vehicle she's in as possible, that she can't look down but instead she'll feel better if she looks straight ahead, and that fresh air can usually help a bit. Because it was a full day road trip we also gave her chewable children's gravol.

I have motion sickness and it was bad when I was kid.  I remember my Mom having to pull the car over, even on short car trips, so I could throw up. I have to agree with Rachel, having him look straight ahead, be as close to the front as possible and some fresh air does help.  You could also try the non drowsy Dramamine or one of those motion sickness bands that go around the wrist, those helped me when I took a cruise a long time ago.

I will say I have grown out of the motion sickness some, it's not as bad as when I was kid.  But I cannot read in a car, not without feeling nauseous.  Amusement park rides are a total no, especially if they go in circles.  I am sorry you and your little guy have to deal with motion sickness

I was going to suggest the sea bands...also ginger or mint candy sometimes helps...

I too suffer motion sickness and it has gotten worse yet better over time in that if I don't wake up feeling woozy I'm ok for a 2 hour car ride in the front.  I have the window cracked (even in the winter and in the summer with the air on).  and I also can't read or text if I'm a passenger.

I'm sorry your kid has been cursed with this too...it sucks.
