No, I don't think Bert is gone for good.

Have they ever said anything about why he always has his shoes off?

I wondered the same thing. If they said it, I missed it.

What a great episode. I'm so sad that next week is the season finale. I think the ad was genius and it will pay off. I felt terrible for Midge, but was really kind of proud of Don for walking away from that whole scene.

I think the Bert/shoes thing has to do with an affinity for Asian culture. He often has Asian art and stuff on this walls.

I also think the ad was brilliant. Pure genius!

I felt so sorry for little Sally. It's obvious she really misses her dad, and had found a friend in that little boy. (I can't think of his name.) Betty is so cruel to want to move Sally away. At least she is going to keep her psychiatrist appointments so that Betty can get therapy too. Betty is the worst mother ever. I wonder if that's how moms really used to be.

Here is an article from Time Magazine from 1967 about Emerson Foote, who was mentioned in the episode. The episode is based on the real life story of Emerson Foote and his decision not to do any advertising for tobacco companies. I think IRL the American Cancer Society teamed up with Emerson Foote, kind of like the direction MM was going..

I LOVE SALLY. Her and I are the same age and amzing to me how accurate the details are. I wore the same clothes, same hair, even went to the psychiatrist a few times (I think it was very common back them).

I am SO bummed that Sunday is the last episode of the season. I think the following Sunday I'll start back on Season 3 episode 1 and rewatch them each week so I don't suffer from withdrawal.

I knew it! Joanie kept the baby. Can't believe Don is engaged. :faint:

The only way it could be any better is if Joan and Roger run away together. I think next season Don will have an affair with Betty while married to the secretary. (Can't think of her name)

One of my favorite parts of the episode was when Don announced to the partners that he was engaged to Ms. _______ and Roger goes "who the hell is that?"

    "That Megan out there?"

And seriously, how much of a b!tch is Betty? Poor Carla.

Yeah! I feel really bad for Megan. She has no idea what she's walking into with Don. The story lines seemed to wrap up well for the year. I liked the way the season ended. :good:

I just finished watching the episode.
Betty is EVIL. Oh my goodness, I loved every minute of Henry telling her off.
Megan :escape: far, far away from Don. This is not going to end well...at all.
Personally, I think Don's true love is Peggy...but that's just me. Betty seemed disappointed that Don was engaged. I think because Henry stood up to her and she doesn't like that, Don just usually gave in...I think she misses that. I really hope they don't have an affair, but I won't be surprised if it happens...the bloom seems to be off the rose with Betty and Henry & Don is just a train wreck.
I felt so badly for Faye when Don broke it off with her :(
And Joan...how in the world is she going to explain that to Roger :faint:

The season ended well, wrapped up some story lines while starting new ones.

Yeah, poor Faye. She knew his real identity too! However, she is strong in her beliefs and I think Don wants someone who just does what he wants. Also, Megan was a natural with the kids and that's what seemed to seal the deal for Don. I also think Don and Betty are going to have an affair. Yep, Betty had free reign to run the house as she saw fit with Don, b/c he was too busy out carousing to care. I love this show!

Me too. I think Peggy's true love is Pete Campbell. I wish they'd get back together. He didn't have very much of the story line this season.

I wonder how long we have to wait for the next season!

If I was going to start watching this, would I need to start from the first season?

I would just b/c it's so good. The first season is a little slow IMO but if you stick it out, it gets so good. If you don't want to watch it all or don't have time you could always just google it and read a synopsis of each season and that would catch you up too.

I did this prior to season 3. It was easy to do and rather addictive.

I started watching right before season 2 on the recommendation by my BF (she basically told me to watch it or else)...so I watched the first season on demand and I was hooked. I would say the first season is worth watching to get a foundation on some of the characters. I agree with Aimee, just reading synopsis could help if you don't have time. www.televisionwithoutpity.com has great recaps and I think they still have them archived for all the episodes.

Nicole, watch it from the first season.

I'm pretty sure Betty was at the house to try to seduce Don. She didn't like the way things went with Henry and I think she was trying to get Don back. I'm glad he didn't fall for it, she is such a biatch.
