If so many people didn't trump up reasons to get out, it wouldn't have to be hard. Some courts send the sheriff out when not enough people show up to round up the no shows.

I got called in TX only 3 months after moving there. Now that I live in Mexico, that is not an acceptable excuse. I'm expected to go back to TX for duty, regardless of the burden it poses. It's not really much of a burden because it's just an hour away, but still. They said if I were employed even further away, too bad, so sad. I would have to show on my duty day or be in contempt of court.

So far, I've only gotten the questionnaire, so I guess I haven't really been called yet. I explained that I work out of the country. I don't know when or if I'll be called.

You guys are killing me. I get called. EVERY. FLIPPIN. YEAR. Like, on the dot! Granted, once the kids were born I had a built in excuse. But now they are in school and I don't think I can stall much longer. Ick. I am all about doing my public service, but every year? Really?

Once you go and are either dismissed or you serve they can't call you back for x period of time. :)

I've received the notice 3x. The first one I was supposed to call the week of my honeymoon, got a temp waiver only to get the follow up for calling the week after my C-section for Micah was scheduled. I also got a notice for federal court for less than a month after that. Needless to say I did get a waiver at that point. I think those waivers (for being primary SAH caretaker of a baby) actually keep you off the rolls for 6 yrs, which means my time could very well be coming up soon.

Quick aside, there was a point when it was a strong possibility that the Casey Anthony jury would be drawn from here in Palm Beach county (the judge was even here at the courthouse Friday afternoon before selection started Monday morning.) I was kind of thinking that I could get jury duty for that, mixed emotions- on one hand, chance to do my civic duty and possibility of 2 months sequestered up against such a horrific case and possibility of 2 months sequestered. Turned out they pulled from the Tampa area instead.

do you know what, maybe the people that get called a lot have very common names?? As in they would be harder for anyone to find if someone was looking for them IYKWIM??
    Am feeling very detectivish tonight:hi:
Never been called myself but maybe that is down to the fact that i am from france, lived in Ireland and moved to Montreal??? soo unfair:unknw:

I've been called for jury duty 3 times- 2x county, once for Federal. I served on a jury my first time, was excused the 2nd time (medical malpractice suit and I had previously had the rare blood disease the plaintiff had) and wasn't needed for Federal.

I was never called as a Smith but have been called 3x's with my married name which is pretty uncommon.

I'm 36 and have been called twice. The first time the person settled so we were sent home, and the second time I got on the jury. It was very interesting! It was a hassle to arrange for childcare because the courts are an hour away from my house, and missing work which doesn't stop just because I'm not there. But if given the opportunity again, I would be happy to help. My dh just got a letter two weeks ago so I'm sure he will get a summons soon.

I have gone in numerous times, since I was eligible. I have never served, but have been there for days waiting to be questioned, chosen/eliminated, etc. They won't call you back for one year. And literally, every March I get called back.
