Wow, such hatred! I think the Gosselins are a great family, are they perfect parents ? No but is their really such a thing? I don't see what some find so bad about them accepting free trips and such, are those trips not learning experiences for their children? Do their cihildren not enjoy those trips? It sure looks like the do to me. Also to those who think the whole show is scripted or fake or whatever then why would they show Kate talking to Jon rudely like she sometimes does and Mady throwing her fits? Don't you think that would be edited out to show the perfect family? The same for the gum episode. About Kate talking to Jon the way she does, no it isn't right, but I know that I've talked to my DH in a similar manner when my twins were young and I was stressed out. When I watch this show I see a real family who behaves in a real way, no the trips are not realistic but I think they make it pretty obvious that they are given to them and they seem very appreciative of everything they get. I know that if someone offered me that stuff I wouldn't turn it down and I'm sure some of you haters wouldn't either. I don't feel that they are exploiting their children at all and the kids seem perfectly happy, developmentally on target and well adjusted to me. I think even the idea that the kids are unhappy or abused is ridiculous! I think it is very obvious that Jon and Kate love their children very much and want the best for them.

It is sad to me that so many would rather let their jealousy of Jon and Kate get the best of them and make up horrible things about them than just be happy for them. Also I think the comparison between them and the Dion quints is ridiculous! It is pretty obvious that the way they were treated was very different from Jon and Kate having a reality show of their family.

 

As for the work comment...
Come on!!! That's NOT work. You consider it labor when they go on fun vacations, and otherwise just be normal. If that's labor, I'll take it! As for on script? Maybe Mom and Dad, but the sextuplets? I don't think so.

 

I completely agree with you kendra.

I watched the beginning shows and the documentaries, now I cannot stand the show.

It drives me crazy the way Kate talks to her husband and on that note if it was the other way around and it was Jon talking like that to Kate, the show would probably never be aired. It would probably be categorized as abuse.

I can not wrap my head around what that woman is doing to her children: The gum episode! The cupcake episode, where they went to decorate birthday cupcakes then NONE of the boys got their cupcakes because they didn't eat enough of their dinner, but were forced to sit at the table and watch their sisters eat their cupcakes.
There is one episode where they paint with chocolate pudding but end up painting themselves and then Kate comes in with that shriek, like she was so shocked that they did that...FAKE!

I'm not a mother (but I am a quadruplet) and haven't been around kids that much, but I do know one thing. If you give....six kids...all the same age...chocolate pudding to paint with...expect something to happen! Their mother hosed them down.


Like I said before, I am not a mother, but I think it degrading to announce on TV who pooped in the potty when you’re only allowed to pee. (Could be an honest mistake, for anyone) instead they decided to embarrass their 3 year old little boy.

My mother could not stand the show from the beginning; she said that Kate makes a lot of things more difficult for herself. Does it really matter who wears what bib or drinks out of what cup! If you can't share in the home, have fun teaching your kids to share out side the home and in school.

Now I know that 4 is no six or 8 but I believe what they are doing to their kids is wrong. To me the Gosselin sextuplets are the exact same thing as the Dionne quintuplets except with technology.


When the show first came on I remember saying to my mother "when they go out they are going to be gawked and stared at anyway, they might as well make some money from it", but enough is enough, I can see a documentary once in a while. The show has spun out of control and is now fake and staged.


from a quadruplets point of view- when we were kids, I don't remember a lot of details from our birthdays, but I do remember every year when news reporters and cameras were there, I also remember being extremely frustrated and watching all the other kids at our parties having birthday fun while we had to sit with fake smiles and our legs crossed at the ankles to get newspaper pictures.

When the gosselin kids are adults, I wonder what they are going to remember from their child hood.


One last note: I do not think Kate and Jon are bad parents I believe they love their children dearly. I think that, gifts, money, and being treated as a VIP has swollen their heads.

 

After watching that cupcake episode I could have strangled them both with my bare hands! :angry:

 

What a great episode this week!! :wub: I can't wait to see the continuation next week. Hawaii is such a GORGEOUS place. They are so lucky to have the opportunity to go there.

 

OK, I have finally watched an episode of this show (part of the Hawaii thing) and can I just say Kate is THE MOST annoying woman on the planet Earth? I cannot believe the way she treats Jon!! That alone is annoying. But imo, she seems to have some unrealistic expectations of both her DH and her kids. One episode was enough for me! :bad:

 

Ok maybe some one has said this before, but last night was the first night I caught a new episode and I know this will open a can of worms, but what is with Kate's hair? I think it looked horrible. I usually LOVE LOVE LOVE her hair but I am not liking this new do. It looks to together, if that makes sense.

And I want to know how she looks so well with eight kids running around. I only have three and look like death most of the time........

I'm guessing she has hair and make-up people provided by the show when they're taping.

Umm, I'd have good hair too if I had a chef to cook meals and a nanny to watch the kids. Oh and my husband stayed home. I don't really like the new 'do either. The short and spiky part at the top looks a bit weird to me. I also kept wanting her to put the long part behind her ear- it was like she was hiding or something.

 

It's hilarious that you post this!! I stopped watching a couple of seasons ago, but turned my bedroom TV on the other night as I was getting into bed and it was on. As I was on my way to the remote to change the channel, I caught a glimpse of Kate and thought WTH happened to her hair?!!! I sat and watched the entire episode with my mouth hanging open waiting to get another glimpse of the back of it. DH walked in, and before I could say anything, he said immediately "what's going on with her hair?!"

 

We almost (but not quite) met Kate tonight. We were in a bookstore here in Houston and as we went in, it said she was having a book signing from 6 to 9 pm (we were there about 7:45). But I guess she had gone through the line and had left so they just had autographed copies of her book left. Supposedly other people had come hoping to see her and she had left early (again with signed books left). So I can't give you a first-hand report of what she might have been like in person.

 

Wow, I'm shocked she left early. Shes getting paid for a specific amount of time to be there and if its advertized that she'd be there from 6 to 9 then she should be there from 6 to 9. I think its sad when I walk past a book store and see an author just sitting there with their books but its part of the job.

 

Ok I have been wondering this forever and can not find the answer, so maybe one of you can help me. I know the older two twins are fraternal but what about the six? Are they all fraternal or are a couple of them identical? Or did they ever do testing? Thank you!

 

They are all fraternal. I don't think testing would be needed since its easy to tell them all apart.

 

I agree her hair looks terrible now. It looked better a few seasons back. Has anyone else noticed how tan (or orange) she looks in some episodes???

If you look at other websites, it is known that she has an organic chef that cooks for the family. She is gone several times a week for publicity purposes. And how would you know what kind of mother I am?? Did I compare myself to Kate at all? They just bought a 1.3 million dollar house. You don't think she can afford a chef? Just because they film her cooking, does not mean she does it all the time. I don't believe I said she sits around all the time either, but having a nanny to watch your kids would certainly give her time to fix her hair. I think your comments towards me are totally uncalled for.

LOL, several of them look the same to me! At least as much as my girls look different to me. . .

 

I have been working night shift a lot and missed the whole house/moving episodes. Did it go into great detail about them looking at different houses and choosing one? Have they said how they are financing it? I know with only one parents working and having 8 kids, money would be tight. I saw the house and it is beautiful. I guess TLC is paying them a lot for the show and book sales are helping, too?

 

The only bit of house hunting they showed on the show was looking at a house and property on their way to the beach in the summer.

They moved into the new $1.3 million dollar house in September. They also have a new ski home in Utah. (Jon was interviewed about it) Neither parent works outside the home these days. They have stated in interviews that the show is their job.

How are they going to pay for that after the show is over? Even if it is paid off now, can you imagine the taxes? Is anyone going to want to watch this freakshow forever? Grr...I really cant stand them.

 

i don't know if this was mentioned or not (didn't read the whole thread, sorry), but one episode showed her cleaning out the fridge, and spending two days on cleaning it. it had wood-colored doors. then on tuesday's episode, the fridge was stainless steel. did she really spend two days cleaning a fridge just to buy a new one?

totally pointless, but it's bothering me

 

So I take it they bought this house and didn't build it.

I think the hardwood fridge you saw was just the cover. The appliances may have been stainless under the hidden cabinetry.

 

I'm watching now. They have a TON of land! That house was 1.3 MILLION? It looks very nice but not worth 1.3 million. The twins still share a room! In a 1.3 million dollar house? Yikes! I guess the land is a big part of that price. AND a ski house in Utah? Man, I should have had SEXTUPLETS!!! hahaha

Yeah but land value is huge and the house is nice and pretty good sized. We've been trying to find some acreage in SE Texas (where real estate is cheap) with a decent size house and almost everything we look at it is well beyond our budget - and we're only looking for 10-20 acres.

 

I don't watch the show but Connie said you could see the wood panel fridge in the background of a basement scean so it is a new one in the kitchen.
