How many of you formula feed, breastfeed, both?

Thanks for the responses. It is interesting to hear what everyone is doing. My boys are gaining well and peeing and pooping, so I know they are okay. I have found that every day is different for us. Sometimes I pump a lot more than bf and occasionally they will be starving and I just don't have enough at that point and they get formula. I've had some bp problems, so I've had a lot of doctor appointments and pumping is just easier on those days. I've just decided to do what is best for that day and not worry about losing my supply or only doing one thing consistently.

My two were FF in the hospital as my milk didn´t come in for 5 days (had a VB too). I tried to give them BM as much as I could but I had no help or support and was so exhausted from the birth and looking after them day & night that it became easier to FF them. DS was also impatient at my breast as the milk was slow in coming.

I gave them BM for 3 weeks then made my peace and exclusively FF them. I felt bad about it but then decided to stop torturing myself. I wasn´t eating properly either and that isn´t ideal when BF. I admit I wasn´t a big fan of BF either and found it painful (as another PP says, a personal thing).

Mine eat 7-8oz and are starting solids too. I wouldn´t worry about how much they are taking when BF as they will stop when they are full. I used to do that with DD for the night feeds and she went back to sleep no probs and I even had a bottle ready just incase it wasnt enough for her.

That sounds like a very sensible approach! :good: And it's obviously working well, because your babies are doing great. I think flexibility is SO important when you have twins - you really have to be able to roll with the punches, play it by ear. I had planned to EBF, but then DD was home and DS was still in the NICU and I was trying to nurse one AND pump for another AND have enough leftover EBM to get some breaks/sleep now and then AND I had raging PPD... Something had to give! So we gave some formula whenever the EBM ran out. You do what you gotta do.

I hope your bp issues get better soon! That's the last thing you need right now!
