I had a c-section scheduled for March 1, but when I went for my non-stress test on February 17, my BP was sky high, my platelets were low, and my uric acid was elevated. So, emergency c-section it was. They were born at 35 weeks 5 days and were great! I was the one stuck in the bed with magnesium sulfate to keep my BP under control.

I delivered vaginally. I went into labor three days prior to their due date. I too was up and in minimal pain a few hours after the boys birth. All went well. Then again, i did deliever 5 babies vaginally prior to this :D ;) maybe that helped a bit. :p

I highly recommend a vag birth, if your situation allows. I was up and watching my husband bathe the babies the same day as their birth. My OB was willing to try as long as Baby A was head down. It was my dream birth! I highly recommend a doula if you opt for this route. Mine was AWESOME. I was allowed to labor in the tub and didn't have to have any meds (not even an IV, though I did have a Hep Lock).

Good luck! A gal from my church just had her twins 2 weeks ago. Also a vag birth and she said it was awesome. She did have an epidural (doctor's orders).

I went through the same issue. Baby A was vertex and Baby B was breech. I decided on a vaginal birth after much thought.

Long story short.... Baby A was delivered vaginally with literally only 2 pushes - very EASY.. . howeverBaby B fell into the birth canal shoulder and hand first so it was a C-section. Since this was my 3 and 4th babies - the C-section recovery was new to me since all my other deliveries were vaginal. I would HIGHLY recommend you trying a vaginal birth, since the recovery is SO much easier than a C-section. I do not regret my decision at all, since the vaginal recovery was minimal it was worth the try.

In the end, the important thing is that I had two healthy babies - no NICU time and came home with us from the hospital. I made it to 38 weeks.

Good luck with the decision. We stressed over it a lot as well and discussed it with our doctors numerous times!!! GOOD LUCK!! VIcki

I was scheduled for a c-section because baby b was breech most of the pg. However, I started having some bleeding and contractions the week before so I voted emergency c-section. I was very upset when I was told I would need a c-section since my first child was vaginal after only 8 hours of labor. However, my c-section went great and it was actually better than vaginal in my opinion. Both babies were born within 2 hours of when I noticed the bleeding, never really had horrible contractions, I wasn't exhausted from labor, on my feet the next day, climbed stairs within 4 days and no pain from the episotomy (therefore back in the saddle before 6 weeks ;) ). DH went back to work the week after the babies were born and I only had occasional help during the day when my parents stopped by.

I had an emergency c section due to High blood pressure and contractions less than 2 minutes apart, not to mention I was already dilated to 5cm by the time they decided to do a c sec. and baby A's butt was already trying to get in the birth canal, but baby B was head down. They were born at 35w6d I was given a spinal and that didn't work after trying it again so they had to put me to sleep.

Mine was an emergency c-section. I was ambulanced to the hospital with a fever of 104.5 and was incoherent. I do not remember much of the day. Once they got the monitors on, the twins heart rates were irratic. They packed me in ice, rubbed me down with alchohol, but the fever would not go down. They were concerned about all three of us, so I was rushed into the OR and was given a spinal and then had my c-section. The boys were 31 weeks.

I spent 2 days in the trauma unit, had 2 units of plasma and 3 blood transfusions. They told my DH the first night that they did not know if I would make it, that he should stay by my side. My heart rate was crazy and my blood pressure was almost non existant. I honestly do not remember much, but I do remember by Mom crying a lot.

My pastor came and prayed and so did many others. The boys were okay, just small. I recovered and finally did see them, they were already 5 days old!

It was a very rare and crazy thing. With my singelton, I scheduled a c-section, but she decided to come early and I once again was taken back for a c-section, though it was not an emergency situation. It was much calmer and I was feeling quite well....

I am just thankful it all turned out okay!

My doctor had planned for me to have a c-section up until the day I delivered and we saw Baby B was vertex so they said I could try vaginally. They gave me pitocin to speed things along. While delivering baby A, I tore a blood vessel so she was vacuumed out and baby B flipped and was a breech extraction. I would have had to have a c-section if I wasn't losing so much blood and they didn't have to deliver the babies so quickly to find the tear and sew it.

I had a vaginal and c-section!!

Baby A was vertex and Baby B was breech. My doctor encouraged me to try a vaginal delivery. Baby A came out in two pushes !!!! Baby B fell down shoulder and hand into my pelvis. They tried to flip her either head or feet first and she would not budge, so they had to deliver her c-section. It took them a good 20 minutes to even get her out by c-section - she was bunched up in a ball.

The good news was both babies needed no NICU time - spent the entire time with us in the hospital and came home with us - 6lb6oz and 6lb 3 oz -delivered at 38 weeks.

I would still make the same decision. I have four children - 3 vaginally and the last one by c-section. A vaginal delivery is SOOOO much easier to recover from, so I strongly would encourage anyone who can try a vaginal delivery to do it.

Good luck with your decision! You have to do what you feel is best for you!

Up until 2 hours before they wereborn, we hadn't made a decision what we were going to do. The doc reviewed my notes, baby B was bigger than A but not by much he saw. My Baby A was born at 9:16 and B was born at 9:48. 3 lbs 3 oz and 3 lbs 8 oz. B was difficult because she was face up instead of face down.

I had had 5 previous c-sections, so mine was a scheduled c-section....only it was 4 weeks before we were scheduled for (ended up with pre-e)

I guess maybe I should have put emergency c-section instead of scheduled. I definetly didn't schedule my babies to come six weeks early!! ;) However, they came by c-section due to the fact that both were breech.

Vaginally. I was induced at 41 weeks. Induction (Pitocin and Cervidil) failed after 2 days so we went home. Baby B's water broke the next day and they were born that night 47 minutes apart. I did not have an epidural. They were 8 lbs 3 oz and 6 lbs 9 oz. My other kiddos were 8 lbs 15 oz and 6 lbs 11 oz.

I love to read things like this because of all the different scenarios. My sister (who weighs 103 lbs and is 5 ft 5 in) vaginally delivered a healthy 12 lbs 3 oz baby girl. She had an epidural and delivered at 40 weeks. It was her fourth vaginal delivery. Her smallest baby weighed 10 lbs 11 oz. She had easy wonderful uncomplicated pregnanciesd as well. My sister in law (about 115 lbs and 5 ft 6 in) has had to deliver both my nieces by C section after pushing and not being able to deliver vaginally. It is so important to remember it does not matter how a woman looks (wide hips vs small boned, etc). How the woman's pelvis is shaped on the inside is what matters. You would never believe my tiny sister could easily and safely deliver a 12+ lb baby but she did. She is so thankful her OB didn't take one look at the u/s (they knew my niece was 11+ lbs) and tell her the baby was too big to deliver vaginally. They told my sister that my niece was head down and she could try for a vaginal. They did not limit her or tell her she couldn't do it. I know a singleton is different from multiples but my point is be prepared for anything and unless it is unsafe, don't let anyone tell you that you can't do it. Sorry to babble, I am just amazed at how different ever woman is built. Like someone already said.....it does not matter how a baby is delivered or conceived. A healthy happy baby/babies and a happy healthy mom is the only important thing not how they get in or get out!! For those of you planning on going natural (without painkillers/epidural) remember to ask your OB what happens if you would need an emergency C section. I wanted to go without an epidural and my doctor was okay with that but he also explained if things went wrong and I needed a C section but no epidural was in place, I would have to be put under. I didn't want to miss seeing the babies no matter how I delivered so I went with the epidural. I got it at 6 cm and had both girls vaginally.
Thanks for reading this novel!! :p

it was suppose to be a scheduled section but i went to appt and had severe preaclampsia so i was rushed in two weeks early for a emergency section. ;) I was put on the mag drip and to me that was the worse part. ;) No NICU time on my babies... and they came home with us when we left. :) Oh and mine were head down and breech transverse i was not risking having both ways.

Good luck!

Scheduled c/s. I'd had a c/s with DD.

Scheduled c-sections both times. My first was breech and my twins were as well. If I ever have another, it would be a scheduled again.
