    Hi,
I had a positive OB appt yesterday. Got to see thhe little guy moving aorund some the tech said he looks wonderful and he now weighs 1 lb 4 oz and that I am measuring right on my projected due date.
The only thing that was bad was the DR said I had gained too much weight during the last 5 weeks (8 lbs) and that he check my thyroid and it was enlarged. I had to get bloodwork drawn and he said he would have the results and call me to let me know what we are going to do. I never had thyroid issues before.
Have any of you experienced thyroid problems during pregancy?

    Thanks & Take care :)

I had thyroid problems during my first pregnancy. I started having heart palpitations every few minutes, which freaked me out & sent me running to the doctor. My thyroid was enlarged, the doctor ordered blood tests, they came back quite high. I ended up having to see an endocrinologist who ordered more blood tests & then told me they would just monitor it. It never got any worse during the pregnancy and when it was rechecked several weeks after delivery, it was normal. I never really had problems during my other 3 pregnancies, but I do think my thyroid levels tend to get a bit off from time to time still. So far not enough to cause me to have to have any treatment. Evidently, if you have thyroid issues during pregnancy, it raises your chances of having thyroid disorders later.

    Update:
My OB called Thursday afternoon and everything is fine with my thyroid levels.
He told me just to watch what I ate and cut out all white carbs (the good stuff)and cut salt intake.
He thought that some of the weight was water since my ankles were some swollen and left alittle mark when he pressed them. Also with my bp meds he told me to increase them to 3 a day and he said we are trying to keep my bp stable to avoid pre-e again if all possible which scares me too death!! With the twins when I was 23 weeks I was already on bedrest so, I just hope and pray that everything will stay on track because I want to carry this baby full term for a normal delivery and no NICU time.

Thanks For Letting Me Vent & Everyone Take Care :)

My thyroid issue was diagnosed about 5 mo after the boys were born (I had noticed a lump much earlier but the doctor decided to ignore me) but after a scan (radioactive iodine) and a visit to a specialist, I was told that the lumps were benign (blood tests were ok). Pretty scary and makes me worry about future metabolic disorders...

Thanks for the warning, I'll keep a close eye on it with this pregnancy.
