Nope. Only first change of the day... since they are usually super wet after an all nighter.

ETA- Thanks for asking, I always wondered what other people did.

I'm also the sort to use wipes sparingly as I think they can sometimes do more harm than good. For pee diapers I usually just dry the area with a blow dryer. I also use the blow dryer after wiping poopy bums. Dry bums are happy bums. :)

depends on how things look. if there is any powder diaper cream residue - wipe. otherwise no. the way i see it is i wipe myself to avoid getting urine on my underwear. that is not an issue with a baby in diapers - as they are covered with essentially one huge piece of absorbent toilet paper.

I wipe after a pee diaper except when it's early, early morning and I want to quickly change them so they will continue sleeping...

We don't because they told us not to in the NICU. It's different than if an adult doesn't wipe because the diapers (disposable) are so absorbent that any dampness from the previous diaper would soak into the new one and they wouldn't feel a thing.

Yes, I wipe my daughter and my son every time no matter what is in the diaper. We bathe them every other night. They've never had a diaper rash.

We did in the beginning until DS got the rash from He**! Then the pedi and a derm told us it is not necessary. I also started making my own wipes at that time to cut out the alcohol but I still didn't wipe anymore after a wet diaper (only in the morning when they are very wet) and since then we have been rash free. I think it really depends on your baby's skin too! With DD I do make sure that when I clean her in the bath every night and when she has a poopy diaper that I clean in her folds to keep her clean.

I voted yes, that I always wipe after a pee, but really, it's more 9 out of 10 times that I wipe after a pee. In the middle of the night every once in awhile I won't wipe.

I don't do it every time because my boys have had such a bad time with diaper rash and having such sensitive tushies.

I voted Yes. For the most part, its true we wipe for all... we cloth diaper and use reusable wipes. they are in a water solution, so there is no way extra wiping will give them rashes. the only times it seems they get rashes is from poops that aren't caught... mainly when I'm not around... ugh I hate it when I come back from a day away, and their little bums are red...

Interesting thread. I'm surprised at how many people wipe each time. I don't. I've heard from several sources that 1) it isn't necessary and 2) it can be irritating. I don't think wiping a baby and an adult wiping are the same thing at all.

As for bathing, I do every other night or even every 3rd night. Now that it's nicer out and we're playing outside more (I have a love/hate relationship with the sandbox), it's every night. But, mine are 2.5. Bathing every night when they were babies was never necessary and dried out their skin.

I always wipe. I guess I never even thought about not wiping!! ;)

But we don't bathe every night or even every other night. The girls get baths every 3 days. So I feel that I need to wipe them with every diaper change.

Oh, and we've never had a problem with diaper rash. We have always used unscented wipes and they have tolerated them well from the beginning.

Not every pee diaper. If it is the middle of the night and I am changing a diaper in the semi-dark I'll admit I'm lazy. My girls have had some mild diaper rashes, but being diligent with the cream has cleared those up. We bath every 2 days or so. I usually clean their faces and necks every morning when I change them. Depending on the day we may bathe them more frequently.

We were told not to wipe after pee in the nicu. Never had a problem with diaper rash due to it

Honestly, I usually don't anymore. I can barely get them to stay still for the diaper change at all and most of the time I have to change them when they're standing up! I'm just happy to get one diaper off and the new one on! But if they smell "unfresh" I try to get a wipe in there. And I do bathe them evening. We've been fortunate never to have difficult diaper rashes or anything like that. We use disposable diapers and I think they tend to suck all of the moisture away from the skin. With cloth it would be different, I think - I'd likely always wipe. When my boys were smaller we always wiped.
