We entertained the thought once or twice, however when we found out we were both shocked. We really thought if we were going to have twins we would have had them several pg ago. It took me a few months and several ultrasounds before I was over it, however I was scared half out of my mind about taking care of 2 infants clear up until after the delivery.

I really wanted them. My DH only wanted one more child, so I knew that my best bet would be to get two at once. Plus, I was always fascinated by twins and the special bond they share. We knew there was a good chance, but somehow my DH never really thought about it that much, or when he did, he was like, "No way that will happen." But, looking back, it's not so surprising: both of our fathers are fraternal twins (his dad has a bro, my dad has a sis). My mom has twin sisters, my dad's twin sister had twins. My mom's fraternal grandmother was a twin, my mom has twin cousins. I go into more detail about my family because I've read it is really the woman that carries the genetic predisposition. So, DH having a dad who's a twin is just a lucky coincidence!

I too had always thought how great it would be to have twins. Twins do run on my dad's side with my grandmother having sisters who were twins and my has cousins who are twins. But even with that I didn't think it would happen for me. Then we found out we'd have to do IVF and I thought wow I'm going to have twins. It took 3 cycles but from the moment I found out IVF was it for us I felt I was going to have twins. I thought twin boys though so I was wrong there. :D

I always wanted twins and they run loosely in my family. When I found out I had PCOS and couldn't get pregnant and resorted to IVF I had a feeling that I would. Implanting 2 Embryos definitely increased the chances a lot too. Right before I found out i was pregnant I had a dream I was going to have twins...and then a few days later found out I was expecting two.

I got my wishes...although with IVF it cost us a fortune! But, we got 2 for the price of 1! We love it!

I dated a identical twin in high school, I thought that if we married we'd have twins. That was 20 years ago.
Surprise DI DI faternal twins, while taking Depo Provera, no lie. Didn't marry the twin.

On April Fool's day I told my friends I was pregnant with twins... And laughed about it... On April 17th I was on my first ultrasound, and was schocked... That it really was twins wasn't expected at all!!!

Never in a million years. I STILL don't believe it a lot of times (I look at them and just marvel)

My husband joked before our first ultrasound that maybe it was twins. I seem to remember saying "no way, not funny, only one allowed" LOL

Yes! I just knew I always would and that I always wanted them. Including my babies - there are 8 sets of twins between my side of the family and my husbands, even though I know fraternal twins come from the mother's side. We signed up for twins is what we say. I knew before my first appointment that I was having twins, I just felt it. So when the doctor said "I think there's two!" I wasn't even surprised, just incredibly excited. It was/is a dream come true for me.

Never thought I would have twins. I was adopted and knew a little about my family history, but didn't realize there were twins in my family till after the twins were born. My bio aunt and uncle are twins though my uncle died in childhood, so I wasnt told much about him and no one told me he was a twin.

The day before my first ultrasound my husband said "I bet it's twins". He said he always had a feeling he would be a dad to twins....I wish he would have told me that before we got married! :D

Never even crossed my mind. When we started trying to get pregnant my wife and I agreed that we were only ever going to have one child. It never occurred to us to even think about the possibility of having twins. Neither of us was aware of any twins in our families… turns out there was one set on my wife’s side (her Great Uncles or somesuch I think), but it was so far from our minds that we never asked anyone about it. Now, of course, we can’t imagine not having twins…
