I've had a couple people including my competitive MIL tell me that carrying twins are no more difficult than carrying one large baby. They then follow up with stories of the biggest babies they carried and make sure to mention that the birth weight was greater than what my two are likely to weigh.

Drives me nuts because a ) I didn't think this was a competition and b ) there is more to carrying multiples than the weight of the babies.

I hate the "should I say I am sorry or congratulate you?" comments too.

I conceived this twins via IVF after many years of failure and am finding that the same people who made rude an insensitive comments about our infertility are the ones who have a way with words about my twins.

Can I tell you that my singleton was 10 lbs 4 ozs... I would consider that big wouldn't you? My pregnancy with her was a BREEZE! I worked until the day I went into labor and I called out sick maybe 2 times! I had no aches, pains stretch marks or other discomforts. This time around was like a complete 360!!! Being pregnant with twins was by far the most physically uncomfortable I have ever been in my life and I hope I never have to go through anything like it again! And I had an easy twin pregnancy compared to many other twin moms! All I can tell you is that even though I was uncomfortable and in pain people still made stupid comments like that... My reply, "how do you know have you had twins?"

As for the other comments, the better you than me, poor thing, you have your hands full comments... they don't stop. The thing that I found interesting though was that during my pregnancy I got them all the time so once the twins were born I was used to them. My husband on the other hand didn't get them until after they came and found it shocking! I remember him saying to one of the nurses in the hospital that if she said we had our hands full or that we would be busy he would scream! :rotflmbo: I think she spred the word because we didn't get many more comments like that!
