    Hi everyone!!
well my name is Ashley, I am currently 28 weeks 2 days with Identical boys and very excited. I have a 16 month old daughter and she is already a handful!! Just found this site and wanted to say I have found this the most useful of any info online. To me having twins on the way is so different than it was with just my daughter and I completely feel like i have no idea what to expect or how to be fully prepared even already being a mom. I guess if anyone has any advice or anything I would love any input.. We recently moved from Georgia to Phoenix, AZ and whoo pregnant with twins during summer here makes the heat a little unbearable, thankfully i spend most of my time indoors. I do want to add that so far this week I am noticing a LOT more pelvic pressure.. Not sure how normal that is but every time i get up i feel as if i have been riding a horse for hours on end. Last ultrasound baby A was head down and baby B still completely head up,that was about 3 weeks ago.. I am wondering if maybe B has turned down and causing pressure(or atleast I hope) Id really like to have a vaginal birth.. I have also heard that there is increase in chance of TTTS after 35 weeks with Identicals?? Does anyone else know anything about that?? Just curious..My doc hasnt planned anything yet as far as induced birth or anything.. Thanks for any feedback guys !

    Ashley

    Welcome to TS!

I had a lot of pelvic pressure throughout my pregnancy - I wore a pelvic band which helped a lot.

There is always a chance of TTTS if your babies share a placenta (mono-di) - how often are you being monitored for fluid levels? Have they given you tips on how to check your belly for tightness?

Yes it can be a worrying time being pregnant with twins so you have definitely found the right place to come ! :)

Well we just moved across country about two months ago and i t took me quite awhile to get set up with a doc here. I had an ultrasound about 3 weeks ago, although apparently how they do it here they do not reveal results to patients only the doctor can although I don't see doc again for 3 weeks but I imagine they would have called if anything were abnormal . It's scary and every day my body just feels closer and closer. I worked up until a few days before having my daughter and i truly would not be able to work now at just 7 months with twins !

welcome and congrats on your twins! I had tons of pelvic pressure with my boys from about 18 weeks on. Pelvic pressure is normal with twins, just listen to your body and take it easy when you can. I know it's hard with a little one at home. My oldest was 18 months when I found out I was having twins so I get how hard it is to take it easy.

What do you mean about tightness? Reason I ask is I just got up and walked to the other room when I sat down I noticed my stomach was real tight.. few seconds later was soft again ..

Tightness (which does NOT go away) is a big indicator of too much fluid. I was told to check my belly every morning before I got up, while I was lying on my back. Make little and firm prods across your belly. If there is tightness, relax and try again in 30 seconds-1minute. If the tightness is still there, contact your care provider to see if they want you to come in.

I found tightness all the time but it always went away after a while, it was usually just a foot or elbow :) .

I had fortnightly scans from 28 weeks, with a specialist OBGYN (we lucky Australians have free medical care) and I don't mean to worry you but is your doctor going to see you more frequently? Mono di pregnancies are high risk and I would be wanting to know that that the technicians doing the ultrasound were highly experienced to look for TTTS plus it would be peace of mind to know that everything was going all right.

Pretty good - the past 2 days have been a little rough. I'm getting really tired and a tad cranky!

    How about you?

haha, I'm not sure how much research my husband has done honestly, wouldn't surprise me if he's done a lot and hasn't told me about it, lol. Luckily he hasn't said much to me other than the fact that I needed to rest more, I'm on modified bed rest and tend to probably get up and do more than I should, lol. Marshall(my husband)works for the local sheriffs department and has threatened to handcuff me to the bed so I'd keep my butt there, lol!

Haha yep I know that feeling. I didn't know mine was researching until I said something about the twins and he started spitting out facts. So how is it going for you? What did they put you on.bedrest for?? So far I'm not on it but I'm worried its coming.. had a long night of pain last night

I started contracting, so my MFM put me on modified I think at 28 weeks and my cervix was shortening a bit. I was thankful that I'm not working and didn't have to deal with that too, I had taken some time off to go back to school and then got pregnant ... lol Woops! And luckily all the shopping and nursery was done bc I'm not allowed to go grocery shopping or really any type of shopping or anything that requires a lot of walking. My husband and I would go for our nightly walks and that had to stop, even when we shortened them considerably I was having to stop b/c of the contractions. I've had BH since then but not the painful contractions.

I swear as time goes on I'm getting more and more ready for these two to be born, I'm just down right exhausted and everything hurts, lol! I recently started having bad swelling in my feet and hands and my wrists hurt and my fingers were tingling, so my doc wanted me to get wrist guards to wear at night, and compression socks to help with the swelling of my feet (they're really gross, you press on them and the indention stays, yuck! lol) and then add the belly support band, damn I look sexy! I'm surprised my husband can resist the sexiness, lol!

hahaha oh i am so sorry to hear you are in such misery.. but atleast you seem to have a good attitude about it and still can make joke!! lol I feel weird i am not sure if i am contracting or not and you think i would know after already having a child but my pain feels like a contraction but it seems to be constant when i do have it.. i went to doc two weeks ago and they said i hadnt dialated or anything yet, i go back at 30 weeks so we will see what they say this time!!

Ha! I've had no clue what was going on b/c this is my first pregnancy, we weren't expecting to get pregnant (actually preventing it) and certainly weren't planning on getting pregnant with twins, lol. I was having back paid that kidn of wrapped around and down into my pelvis, needless to say when that was happening I got my butt to L&D. I was contracting but it wasn't consistant, when they checked me I wasn't dialated but my cervical length was right at 3, it had shortened from 4.2 to 3 in 2 weeks, but since I got on the bedrest it's stayed the same and hasn't shortened. They also did the FFN test which was negative, thank goodness. Now I just have BH, I can feel my stomach tighten and it only lasts about 30 seconds and then it goes away and there's no pattern. I was doing 2 week appts and now I'm doing every week appts and weekly NST's. I actually kidn of look forward to the NST's and hearing the babies heart beats and hearing them move and have the hiccups, lol, my baby boy (Jackson) always has the hiccups and my baby girl (Adalynn)will flip away from the monitors, cracks me up!

o wow! well we meant to try for ONE more and got TWO! lol its an awesome feeling and having identicals is neat! I think i may just be having BH..maybe already being a mother i tend not to panic even if i should.. I get in pain and my husband freaks and wants to go to hospital, but i went in every time with my daughter and always sent home so i feel like unless i know something is really really wrong not to go, and with my luck i am being undercautious this time!! My boys are so active it is ridiculous and i think they move more when i am uncomfortable or feeling pain than ever, of course! I am just hoping that my baby B (Jordon) will flip over, he was still up at last ultrasound.. really hoping for vaginal birth if safe and possible. have a 16 month old to care for too and need as fast of a recovery as possible!

haha! I hear you about them being active!! They've been waking me up during the night. Adalynn is ALWAYS going, I swear that girl never rests, Jackson on the other hand is pretty lazy, he goes through spurts of activity, lol. The sibling rivalry has already started, Jackson gets hiccups all the time, and when he gets them I feel a punch or a kick from Adalynn, like say, STOP IT!! During ultrasounds we've seen her kick her brother in the head constantly, lol! We laugh b/c as I said Adalynn is always going and pretty busy (which is just like me) and Jackson is chill (just like his daddy), I can't wait to see how they are when they're born.

Jackson had been breech until last week and he flipped to vertex, Adalynn has been vertex for a while. I'm glad they're both head down but I know I'll be having a c-section (hopefully not emergency) bc of some health issues that I have, the docs are worried about me doing a vaginal birth ancomplicationsns with me and the babies.
