Hello Ladies! My name is Stephanie and I am 31 year old with two boys ages 10 and 7. I am 30 weeks+ with B/G twins. I have been put on strict complete bedrest as of Wednesday. I am only allowed to go to the potty, take a short shower, and lay flat in the bed only. I went for my normal ob appt on Wed. when the Dr. checked my cervix and it has started to open a little. She asked if I have been having any contractions and I told her BH now and then. She put me on the "belts" that check for contractions and I was having them every 2-3 minutes. I didn't even know. I thought it was the babies streching or one of them balling up. I was sent to L&D to be observed a little longer and to get 3 shots of brethine and 1 pill of brethine. I also had an u/s to check the babies. They are doing fine. My cervix measured 4.3 cm. After 4 hours I was sent home on 5mg of terbutaline every four hours. I was also instructed to check my pulse before taking the med. because if it is 120 or higher not to take it until it goes down closer to 90. They stressed that this medication is a very high risk of over dose. I just hope to make it for another 6 weeks!

Things I was told to stay away from because they will cause contractions:

    Chocolate
    Soft drinks
    Sex

New here as well... BLECH. I just got out of the hospital after 2 days of tests for PIH and contractions. Very luckily the contractions are not painful and do not appear to be advancing my cervix at all which is closed and 3 cm long still. The L&D nurse was a little shocked at that. She said that's amazing for a twin PG at this point. My hypertension is being controlled with blood pressure meds and bedrest. I've been told only up to go to the bathroom, grab a sandwich or shower. Otherwise lying down or reclining. I have no laptop - UGH - so I am doing email checks sporatically and checking in here occasionally. Right now I'm eating a middle-of-the-night snack and figured I'd post. They did give me steroid shots at the hospital and the babies are well over 3 pounds each so if my blood pressure does spike again they might just do the C-section. I'm still hoping to hold them in for a few more weeks though.
