I picked up LLBean for the girls this year. Sarah got an Original Plus and Allison got a Critter backpack (have no clue if it's original or what). Both say 7 and up and I was afraid they might be too big, but I am happy with the size. These should last them a few years.

This is the exact one Sean has, this is year #2 with it and it's in near perfect condition. He brings home a big zippered three ring binder every single day, and keeps some txt books, his 2 pencil cases and other random papers in it. His hoodie jacket will stuff in there too, and we always keep a medium weight flannel type shirt in it in case he's chilly in the winter time.

    You ladies rock.

DH and I decided we'll take a ride up to the flagship store in August to check them out (and we can hit the outlets on the way back for some school clothes shopping).

I'm glad I'm not the only one who splurged a bit. I ordered the smaller ones from Land's End... I just hope it's big enough for the lunch boxes! They're not in kindergarten yet obviously and not huge for their age so I didn't want the big ones.

I am glad that I saw this post. We usually get backpacks from Walmart or Kmart. They usually last just the one year, two if we are lucky. Last year they got tote bags from Aeropostale that they still use for overnights.

After seeing this post, I went online to look at LL Bean. I also found a code for $10 off of $50(DPH3736). I ordered backpacks for the twins yesterday. I can't wait for them to come. I hope these last several years.

The ones I bought last year for my girls still look brand new! I'm going to get their lunch boxes before school starts since the backpacks held up great to rough 4-5 year olds :)
