Hi girls! I was a twin mommy but lost one at around 8 weeks. I've struggled with that since it happened. I've been pretty much in denial, while at the same time in mourning. I'm 20 weeks along now with a healthy beautiful little boy. (VERY active) I still can't shake the idea of twins though. Like I said, I'm 20 weeks, but my belly measures 27 weeks. I've felt movement for over a month, even my husband feels him all the time. (He's a strong little guy!) Sometimes I feel kicks/punches in 3 different spots at the same time---makes for a funny mental picture of how spread out he must be!

Anyway, I had another ultrasound today, (elective) and as the tech is doing the ultrasound, she starts frowning and going back and forth between 2 spots. Then she says to me, "You're not having twins are you?!" Oh my, my heart sank. I said, 'I don't think so.' She showed me the "two" babies. At first one was head down, and the other head up. Then, one was head down and the other sideways; they were kind of in a T shape. To see the "two" babies, she had to move the wand back and forth. She then called the doctor in. (It took all of my strength to not sit there and cry.) The doctor came in, scanned me, said there's only one.

Why did this have to come up again?? I've been crying a ton since the appointment. I feel like I'm having to deal with it all over again. I don't understand how the tech could have thought there were 2 babies in there, and then the doctor comes in so sure that there's only one.

I'm so sad, all over again. I just don't understand.

 I'm sorry you lost one. I did too at about 9 weeks. Vanishing twins.

DUring my entire pregnancy I dreamt and had dreams that I was still carrying two babies... I measured big and fully dreamt that they would discover the 2nd baby at delivery. Nope. I'm sorry the tech thought she saw two babies in there. I watch them work and find it amazing that they can keep track of just one baby and know which way to point the hand held 'wand!'

 I am so sorry for your loss and that you had to go through it again today. I don't know much about sonography and all that, so I'm not sure how they made that mistake. :(

    Thanks girls!

This whole pregnancy seems so bitter sweet. I'm more then thrilled that I have a beautiful baby boy that's healthy and STRONG! At the same time though, I feel so sad for having lost his sibling, and I can't help but tear up every time I see twins somewhere. I guess I'm still mourning and feeling sorry for myself...
