    here is a article

Okay, I admit that I have not read this 20 page document. I stopped at the contributors: environmentalists and ONE doctor. I guess I need something more "official". I agree with the pp that stated it's a personal choice. I've decided to use my "safe" gerber bottles more, even though the boys don't like them. Maybe the more we use them, the more they will like them.

My understand, as someone else said, is that BPA is in all types of plastics. Including their sippy cups, bowls, etc. So although we can protect them by switching bottles, as they get older, you can't protect them from everything. I think as long as you follow the guidelines about heating them up, and cracked bottles, etc. You will be fine. And if you prefer to buy different bottles, go for it. To each their own.

Well said. There is just so much crap out there for us to worry about, and you are right, we can't protect our kids from everything.

yea I stopped at the cover page too....quite frankly if it was *that* much of a worry I doubt the FDA would allow those baby bottles on the market considering they are used for the most vulnerable members of society - defensless infants...I feel the same way about soy formula and formula in general - if it was soooooo horrible the FDA wouldn't allow defensless children to ingest it - so until the FDA pulls the stuff by recall I'm not worried...

I haven't been too concerned about it.

I read through that and I feel a little sick. Not only have I been using Dr. Brown's for about 6 months, but I've been putting them in the dishwasher daily for about 3 months.

I guess I need to get to BRU for some BPA free bottles. Tomorrow.

this is from a government site the conclusion of a study
CERHR convened a 12-member, independent panel of government and non-government scientists to evaluate the scientific studies on the potential reproductive and developmental hazards of BPA.

at the bottom of the page it says

What can I do to prevent exposure to BPA?
If you are concerned, you can make personal choices to reduce exposure:

Don’t microwave polycarbonate plastic food containers. BPA is strong and durable, but over time it may break down from over use at high temperatures.
Avoid plastic containers with the #7 on the bottom.
Don’t wash polycarbonate plastic containers in the dishwasher with harsh detergents.
Reduce your use of canned foods. Eat fresh or frozen foods.
When possible, opt for glass, porcelain or stainless steel containers, particularly for hot food or liquids.
Consider alternatives to products that contain BPA, such as PETE (polyethylene terephthalate, ID code #1).
Use infant formula bottles that are BPA free and look for toys that are labeled BPA-free.
