Is it just me or does anyone else think that Kristy is way out of her depth now? IMO she should have been eliminated weeks ago.

    I agree

I am sad for him but I do think he will do well even without winning.

I was thinking the same thing. I think he'll do better NOT winning, KWIM? I know it's hard for him now, though. I was SHOCKED he was even in the bottom 3!!

Yes! She had a couple good weeks, but she's really not up to par with the others, IMO.

It's really hard when someone hasn't been in the bottom 3 before and they go home their FIRST TIME!!! (It's the first time I can remember anyway!)

I'm speechless about it. Breaks my heart. I liked him alot. I sat there completely stunned. H and I had been debating the entire show whether they were gonna actually send someone home.. It was a very shocking, sad moment for me.

Sheysha was my pick to go home. I think she should have left last week.. I just dont really like her all that much.. I'm pissed that she's still there, and I have to hear her again next week, and Micheal wont be there and I wont get to hear hem again next week. I looked forward to his performances.

Did you see carly... she was pretty shocked and upset... kept repeating"No, No" over and over while Ryan was trying to talk. And then sobbed when she got back to her seat. Infact... I think that was the most dreadful results show I've ever seen... all the contestants stood there and didn't even sway while he was singing... they just stood there, with tears, or looks of "OMG I am going to puke"... and couldnt participate in the farewell. There have been emotional boohoo fests before.... but never a stark still, freaked out bunch of contestants trying to make sense of insanity. It was crazy.. heart breaking... and well, sad. Just sad.

I do think he will do well on his own though. He's really good, and he has a genuine love of doing it. I think we'll see him around again soon.

Maybe next week, the songs will be better... after this shock, it must sink in to the contestants that every single performance needs to be top notch and their best.. That anyone at this point could have one bad week, or even a not so bad week, but a not as good as last week - week... and be sent home. Maybe they'll take it more seriously now. And hopefully, Kristy doesnt go back to picking god awfully bad songs for her voice.

That's kinda the way I have been about Kristy.

I didn't vote this past week, so I can't get to angry. Didn't do my part! While I do like Syesha, I think her time has come - as soon as KRISTY GOES! Kristy should be gone and then Syesha....

    Did anyone vote this week?

:cray: I forgot the results show was last night! :cray: I missed it! So sad to hear that Michael is gone. Thanks for the link Kim. I think it was a little unfair how they did it. Everyone seemed shocked. Poor Michael.

I have only watched half of the Idol Gives Back show. Seemed pretty good so far, maybe not as good as last year though. I had never heard Miley Cyrus sing before and agree with whoever said she's not really that great of a singer. Not bad, but not great either.

As far as the malaria nets go, I think everyone over there should have them. Hopefully those who receive them will faithfully use them. My DH goes to Uganda sometimes as we help out a local church there. In the town he goes into the reality is that alot of families have the nets but won't use them. I don't understand that at all, but I just wish they would all use them. They really do save lives.

Wow, I must be in the minority here. Michael has bored me the whole season - I wasn't sorry to see him go, and I have been impressed with Kristy - she's my kind of girl! I do agree Syesha can go though...

I have been reading many peoples thoughts on the Michael Johns vote off (here and around the internet).

There are many people who are saying they are not going to watch the show anymore this season or in the future. I don't know if they will actually stay true to those words but it got me thinking.....

What if somehow David Cook got voted off next week? I know he may not win it all (hope he does) but if he got voted off before Kristy Lee or Syesha would I continue to watch the show? I am sort of leaning toward a big NO I would not.

One comment on another board was "wouldn't it be better if it was a vote for the worst rather than for your best".

Absolutely agree. She has long outstayed her welcome on my screen :p. Hopefully she will go home next week, I can't see her doing really well with Mariah songs... although, I am very curious to see what David C. is going to pull out of his hat with that theme !

The song Carrie sang, "PRaying for time", is actually a George Micheal song.

I didn't know this, and went searching for the lyrics and was surprised. Surprised I hadn't heard it before, actually. Anyway.. hadnt seen it mentioned yet so thought I'd do that. :)

    I like Carrie's version.

I wonder if these people are voting? If they are watching and not voting then I think they have no beef. I do vote when I feel like I need to. This week I voted for Brooke because I was not ready to see her go (and interestingly enough I was driving to work the morning after the performances and all the dj's had pegged that it was her that was going to go. I was hoping they would talk about it this morning after being wrong but there was actually no mention of AI just that the Hidden Talents of the Stars show was yanked after just one episode).

I don't feel too badly for the people who get the AI exposure but don't win. If they are truly good then it is proven generally they will have gained the means to succeed and not only that they will be able to keep the money they make. AI keeps a percentage of the winners $$ for 6 years I believe. In alot of cases 6 years is a long time in the music world. Not trying to knock winning at all but just trying to show there are some documented benefits of not winning.

I blame "vote for the worst" for a lot of this type of thing. I thought they were starting to fail in their efforts, but apparently not!!! :(

Cheryl, you bring up an interesting point....what IF. I don't actually WANT David Cook to WIN, because then he wouldn't be as FREE to do his thing. I think David Archuleta will win it and he can do the dog and pony show for AI. I think it should be D. Cook in the finals, but I doubt he'll win.

You kinda have to figure. Who are the people voting the most. They are the YOUNGER people. I DO VOTE, but not for HOURS. About 1/2 hr. is my record - except last year I think I might have hit 45 voting for Daughtry.

I also vote for 2 people usually....so...go figure. I think there is an ARMY of 6th graders that are voting for hours for David A. Just my thoughts.

I think that if David Cook has to sing that horrible Idol song like Blake did last year he will not win. I mean when Blake had to sing it he looked like he was being tortured. It is such a cheesey pop puke I finally made it vomit fest that a rocker hip hop guy cannot do it. So no I do not think if David Cook gets in the finals and has to sing that song he will do good.

I think that in the end it is going to come down to David A & Carly.

The submission contest for the song ends right around now right? Hopefully the people composing took into consideration the various attributes of the contestants and certainly the decision makers know, I would hope they have learned since last year!

Well, Cheryl, their wacky voting system is why I don't vote anymore. Too many times talented people have gone home too early while those with a lesser talent (ie: Sanjaya, Taylor, etc) have stayed in too long or have actually won. People like Michael or Daughtry have an off night and boom, they get less votes for ONE week and off they go. I think the voting system on Dancing With The Stars is so much better: limited votes per household and/or number and the judges votes factor in also......if only..... <_< .

I watched the rest of Idol Gives Back this afternoon and my DVR shut off part way through Mariah Carey's song. Was that the last song or did I miss anything??? Not sure why it shut off, it was set to record the entire thing. :umm:

What is the theme next week? I was sad to see Michael go i think it should have been Syesha (sp?). Obviously i dont get to vote though because i am in Scotland and the show gets aired a day later here. Still annoys me off when someone who was awful gets to stay and someone who was good i.e Michael gets booted off. This is when its turns into a popularity contest instead of a singing one x

I don't know how many of you watch "So You Think You Can Dance" but I think AI should do their eliminations like they do. The public votes, but then the bottom 3 have to dance solo. Then the judges decide who goes from the bottom 3.

I think our better singers would be around longer. If this was they way they did it, Sanjaya would of been gone early and Kristy Lee Cook would be gone too.

I think that's a good idea, but I'm sure they don't leave the final decision to the judges because they want it to be "America's choice", KWIM? They could at least limit the amount of votes that come through on a single line, though.

The reason AI keeps their voting system is because they just love bragging about how many millions of votes they received.....

I'm okay with Mariah songs. You know Syesha will try to oversing one of her ballads (Can't Let Go?) and probably pale in comparison. And I could see David A. trying her remake of "I'll Be There". Hero, Emotions, One Sweet Day, Through the Rain, Love Takes Time, Someday, Vison of Love, and Butterfly are all good songs and I could see the contestants (hopefully) trying to spin some original versions of those songs. I'm actually looking forward to the week. I think the women will have an advantage over the males this week and could see it being particular tough for the guys.

Do you know that Mariah recently passed Elvis with her 18th #1 Billboard chart-topper (Touch My Body) earlier this year? The only performer with more #1's is The Beatles with 20. I have to admit that's a pretty sad reflection on American music history.

Craig, I am a little concerned about your extensive knowledge of Mariah's music! :nea: I'm a little worried about you!!

It's going to be a PAINFUL week. I hope they change them. Randy played bass for her, he's going to be all "Dog, only Mariah can sing those notes" GRRRR!!!
