I already started to cry when they showed the little girl trying to find her sister!! Did you see Brooke after that? She too was crying.

Oh yeah, I was crying too. How heartbreaking.

    Inspiriational songs.

So I just watched Michael Johns sing Dream On and I was thinking about you, Kim! How did he measure up in your eyes (or should I say ears...)? I think I agree with Simon... almost "wannabe"-ish, but good.

    BYW- I love Simon!

I HATED tonight. Everyone really bothered me except Jason C. I did not like David C at all the whole performance was totally cheeseball to me and I thought the whole give back on the hand was kinda silly even though I see what he was going for. Syesha was alright but sorry I just do not get her. David A is annoying, sure he is cute but not my style either although I did giggle when they showed that little girl holding the sign saying "Lick Those Lips :D " .

Carly has a great voice but when she performs she reminds me of Celine Dion. All The squatting and bouncing. It just bothers me to watch her even though I am a fan. Not liking Michael Johns tonight either... too much of a Copycat of Aeorsmith which I am sure Kim is cleaning the blood out of her ears still.

Brooke was alright but enough with the tears... (man I am MEAN). Kristy surprisingly was good!! I still do not like her.

I did like Jason Castro, great version of that song, everytime I hear it I think of Dr Green dying on ER :(

He was no Steven but he didn't really suck either. I also agreed with Simon. It wasn't the worst Aerosmith imitation I've ever heard though.

And I love Simon too!!

My favorites tonight: Michael, Jason Castro (thought he was fantastic!), Kristy Lee (surprise!), and David A. (awesome). I'm throwing David C into this mix too. While it was not my favorite performance of his, I really love him. Brooke was good tonight but not fabulous.

I think Syesha should go home and I think Carly may be in danger. Poor song choice on her part as that is another wonderful Freddie Mercury/Queen song and she did not do it justice.

David C is good - probably saved by the sign on his hand.
Carly - not as good usual.
David A - how can he go wrong? I love the guy- hope he wins (though I know he won't)
Saisha (how do you spell that?) probably done. I can live with that.

I think that Michael, Syesha and Carly will be in the bottom 3.

Do they really vote people off on the Idol Gives Back show though??? I thought what they do is take the votes from this week and add them to next week or am I wrong.

I remember them saying something about how it would be cruel to kick someone off on the Idol Gives Back show.

Ok, I think I am at odds with the gang here!! :D

I actually like Syesha! I thought she nailed it and was fantastic. Not sure what must be wrong with me that I like her. Therapy in my future perhaps?

Jason - Ok, all I could see were all the First Year Montage's I had seen and then my mind wandered to "gee, I need to do that again" Kinda Funny!!

David C - Didn't have a clue what song that was, but he's so great - he MUST GO ON! (Better get my vote on!)

Brooke - was a little boring for me. Still like her!

David A - sorry, but Simon was right - the beginning was NOT GOOD!! He brought it at the end. Not his biggest fan - sorry!

Carly - still like her, but she really did seem angry at the end - I will say it's NOT time for her to go!!

Kristy - WHOA? Who was that masked Cowgirl? She did great!! I was really happy for her because even though I am not a fan, I thought she really shined!

Michael - I kinda agreed with Simon, but the thing is - he didn't butcher it and he's hot!

I have to say that Kristy may have been the best tonight although I think David A. will have the most votes. I'm not in the Jason Castro nailed it club tonight; I didn't like his version of that song at all (okay, maybe I hated the beginning of it and it grew on me a little). I also think Carly is in trouble although I'd prefer to see Syesha go home at this point.

I couldn't agree more! Sorry those of you who enjoyed it. I just didn't get it. I've never heard that version before and, quite honestly, I was surprised at the judges thoughts on it. When I hear that song all I can think of is when Katharine McPhee sang it a couple years ago - SHE NAILED IT!!! Sorry Jason fans. I wouldn't be sad if he went home.

I wasn't all that pleased tonight. Thought several of them weren't great. Not sure who will go home though. I was surprised by Kristy, she did really good.

I was not surprised at all that the judges loved it. But if you've never heard this version before, I can see how you would not love it. Yes, Katharine McPhee nailed the traditional version of this song but Jason really nailed this version. He is one of my favorites. I would so buy a CD of his -- loving the whole folksy Jack Johnson beach vibe he's got going on. ;)

I knew from David Cook's first note last night that he was having an off night. :(

Thursday is the results show but I don't think they ever said elimination show. Last year I believe they let us know who the bottom were but then noone left. They added the votes from the Give Back week and the following week together since they didn't feel it was right to eliminate someone during the special programming week. I listened carefully to Ryan's wording last night and he always said results. It will be interesting to see if they do it the same as last year or not.

Okay - I just realized this thread was here and I'm going to horn in. I've only read the last page of posts so I have no idea who's the expert or who loves who. This is my first year I don't have a clear cut favorite. I like several of the contestants for various reasons. To me Jason Castro is just the cutest, sweetest little thing and I really like what I think it a different style from most of the singers on Idol. Okay that and I keep comparing him to one of my grandsons - he has the same shape face and his eyes remind me of what I think M's eyes will be when he grows up - the dreads look good on him, but hoping M won't sport them but I think that similarity is what will keep me hoping he stays in for a while - I absolutely loved his song last night. While someone said it reminded them of ER I keep remembering the movie where Drew Barrymore was in the wreck and she woke up each day with no memory. I love that version of "Rainbow" and I do believe he knocked it out of the park. I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I have not been a real Kristy fan, but for the past three weeks she's been one of my favorites. I think the girl has real talent and she will definitely sell in country music. Syesha is a hit or miss with me. While she has a powerful voice, at times it just lacks something. I can take her or leave her. David Cook I think is awesome and probably deserves to win. I hated last nights performance which is really weird since I usually love everything he does - but last night - if that had been the only time I heard him - I would say "off with him". David A - I was a fan from the beginning then he sort of lost me and on Dolly week I was back on the band wagon - last night - they praised him, but it lacked something for me although I think he will be in the top 3. Aussie boy - well from day one I said he was a contender, but he's a bit inconsistent for me. I think he has talent and he definitely has the look - some weeks I think he could take it all and some weeks I th ink he's outta here. Brooke - at first she had me mesmerized and I was thinking what a sweet down to earth girl. Then - well how to put this politely - she appears to fake a sort of sweetness. She's just up there with that head tilt looking like she's going to cry and saying criticism is okay and I honestly think she has them afraid to criticize her because she will cry. That and the fact that everything she sings has started to sound just the same to me thinks it's time for her to go. She's my pick for leaving Thursday although I think the actual one that leaves will be Syesha. Carly probably IMHO has the best voice, but she doesn't know how to use it. She powers through sometimes when she should be holding back and controlling it more. She doesn't really pick a lot of songs that suit her. I do think she dresses fine - contrary to Simon and I love her accent. I think she will be in the bottom three and that's a shame. Again, there is no one singer that has made me want to vote this year. I have 5 I really like and three that I like. Overall I think this is a year with a lot of talent. I think on any other given year, three of them could have been winners. All just my opinion of course.

I thought last night was just "okay" over all. I was disappointed in Michael Johns. I thought he sounded terrible. I LOVE that song, so perhaps not hearing Aerosmith do it was part of my problem, but my dh thought he sounded bad, too. Carly was okay, definitely not up to par with prior performances. Brooke, too, wasn't as good as she could be. I'm afraid for her tonight  . David A. was good. David C.... , nah, didn't like the song, couldn't understand half of it, but he's a good performer. The best over all performers in my opinion were: Jason, Syesha, and Kristy.

Did she forget to put the cutlets in the fridge after she got back from the grocery? GOOD GRIEF! That's not SERIOUSLY the way it's supposed to look is it? YUCK!

Does anyone know why Simon turned around and looked into the audience as he was talking to Carly? Then Carly kind of said "shh". Did her dh say something during Simons critique?

I'm curious - what did you all think of the last song "Shout to the Lord"? I was moved to tears (partly in shock) but I am one who sings that song a lot. It seems overtly spiritual for this show. What did the rest of you think?

I wish Heart would have sang without Fergie. I am not a huge fan of hers. I think she has a good voice but felt she was kinda showboating it up and taking the light away from the real Heart.

I was not as moved this year for some reason... I think I am becoming heartless!!!! I am going to donate but I am going to look for a company to buy nets direct from for Milaria. It sickens me what our government blows money on when this money could be going to save lives.....

I do have to say the parts that moved me...

Annie Lennox.. hands down every year!!! Emotional.. So happy those boys were HIV negative!!! but what an Amazing woman!!

Miley and Billy Ray in Kentucky, I cannot believe those conditions that those familes live in.... right in our backyards.

Forrest Whitaker... My heart was breaking for that baby.

And my hands down GIVER OF THE CENTURY!!!! BONO!!!! This man is amazing.... What he does for Africa just makes me speechless.

I do not know if emotionally I could go to africa and handle seeing everything that they see but if I could I would want to go over there with Bono, Annie Lennox and Angelina JOlie.

The family in Kentucky brought me to tears. When I saw the books delivered, and then saw the little girl looking at the pictures, I got so sad. I cant imagine how happy they were to get those books. I looked around me and saw the mass amount of books my boys have laying all over the floor. I guess I really do take what we have for granted.

edited to say "I really do...instead of 'we''"

OK I found the Malaria website... http://www.malarianomore.org/ I am going to buy 1 net a month every month :) They are $10.00 a net, so if anyone cannot give alot to the cause here is a great monthly solution.

So tonight they definitely said to tune in tomorrow to see who goes so maybe that is why they did 3 nights this year so they won't feel soo bad about eliminating someone?

Ok, I know this is going to sound heartless but please hear me out and try to read where I am coming from here because it is not meant in a bad way. One of the girls at my house tonight made an interesting point about the malaria nets. Obviously they are very helpful but for all the people that are saved because of the nets, doesn't that just add more people to the other issues they have? This is not meant to sound judgemental but if food and water etc etc are an issue with the mortality rate where it is today, what happens when the survival rate increases? Do these people just become victims of something besides malaria? Again, not trying to be heartless just honestly wondering. It doesn't seem to me that malaria nets are the end all be all cure that I am being made to believe by watching the clips on them. Maybe malaria nets in conjunction to other necessities of life????????

Edited because it is mortality nor morality!
