I am such a dork. Re-watched most of Adam's Idol performances last night while my guys were watching basketball. OMG, he was so amazing that it's no wonder some of these performances seem so lackluster to me. He was really incredible.

I am just not very into this season. I know it has been said that this is the most talented group ever but I dont see it at all. I do love Casey and Scotty and James but that is it. There are others with great voices but they are not my style at all. Blah...maybe as the season goes on...

]This won't be a true spoiler, but I did see something in Motown's home newspaper (the Detroit News) that these are some rumored songs being performed tonight (with just one contestant matched to a song). Keep reading if you want to see a list of five songs that might be heard tonight and what one singer in particular is rumored to be doing.

By the way, Idol hasn't done a Motown Night since Season Eight.

Some of the songs being performed tonight, according to sources, are "(I Heard it Through The) Grapevine," "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "YouKeep Me Hanging On," "Dancing In The Streets" and "You're All I Need To Get By."

Country crooner Scotty McCreery, meanwhile, who has yet to leave his comfort zone of country songs, is said to be putting a Nashville-type spin on Stevie Wonder's "For Once in My Life."

Does Scotty make anyone else think of George Bush? Once I saw that, I can't unsee it.

 Well... now that you say that. I'm not a fan of his  He's okay but I don't see the hype.

Pia is upsetting me!! :gah: LOVE her but why is she not hearing the judges!!! Ugh.

I can't like him because of my anti Bush bias.

I'm angry at a lot of them. So far, Lauren was great and Haley was good. The rest fell short.

I'm not going to recap all the songs because I can't remember them off the top of my head but overall this was a very good night. James and Jacob were 1-2 in my book and both were great. Then I'd put Scotty, Lauren and Naima 3-5.

Pia and Casey were just okay but they're both safe.

The bottom four to me were clearly Stefano, Haley, Paul and Thia. I'd be fine if any leave but based on tonight alone, I'd say Stefano's performance was my least favorite (he did Hello and while it wasn't anything close to David Cook's version, I hated what they did to the song).

Quite honestly no more than say James makes me think of Bill Clinton. Not sure if you're saying his facial characteristics or just his smirk, but I really don't see it. Maybe Mad's Alfred E. Neuman character (I think he was also a candidate for President a couple of times) but not W for me.

The ears, hair, face, accent, expressions. He's a dead ringer. I don't see James similar to Clinton at all. Scotty does look like Alfred E. Neuman, but so does Bush so that's not helping me.

I think he looks like a Campbells soup kid.

How could you not love Paul tonight!!

Oh Kim, I am so glad to hear I am not alone. Not only do I still have all his performances, but it took a major marital arguement to get to keep them.
I would not let my DH change providers without saving all the Adam performances. He about had a cow, but I think he told his work IT guy his wife is a total nutcake, and asked him to save them to our new computer. YEAH!!!!!!

So yes, I still watch them. no one else can compare. I do love James, especially knowing his issues, I love how he overcomes. BUT... I still miss Adam.

Yup. I have decided either they are not hearing the singers as we are OR they are extremely biased. I have to hope it's the former.

Totally! It's especially the smirk that does it for me. I come in here and read all the time but never post. But I almost posted this same observation last week.

The guys totally rocked it last night. It was a fun night with the exception of a few.

    1. Casey Abrams - I Heard It Through the Grapevine (Marvin Gaye): Yukon Cornelius. He's Yukon Cornelius. But dude rocks it! Love his growl and his interpretation. He has style!

    2. Thia Megia - Heat Wave (Martha and the Vandellas): she is so sweet but so timid and shy; beautiful voice and she looked darling but her immaturity as an artist shows

    3. Jacob Lusk - Youre All I Need to Get By (Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell): that was a work of art! very powerful, perfect phrasing; love the way he pulled it back and then built and built; he is not a style of artist I would probably ever buy but I love him; such an excellent, soulful voice; beautiful, truly beautiful

    4. Lauren Alaina - You Keep Me Hangin' On (The Supremes): for once, I didn't hate her! she sang well, looked pretty, and overall did a nice job; still not a fan though

    5. Stefano Langone - Hello (Lionel Richie): he sang well but I was bored out of my skull; didn't like it

    6. Haley Reinhart - You Really Got a Hold On Me ( Smokey Robinson and the Miracles): thought it was going to be not good when she started but the second half she shone through; love that bluesy schmoozy thing when she lets it rip.

    7. Scotty McCreery - For Once In My Life (Stevie Wonder): as soon as he opened his mouth I said "Glenn Campbell" so it was funny to hear Steven channeling me and say the same thing; love Scotty's voice (although the GWB image must now be erased - thanks, Rachael!) and love him; sweetheart; wasn't his best but he put in a good effort

    8. Pia Toscano - All In Love is Fair (Stevie Wonder): beautiful girl, beautiful voice but zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz; good critique by J-Lo

    9. Paul McDonald - Tracks of My Tears (Smokey Robinson and the Miracles): Man, I totally dig his style! Loved him, voted for him. I was worried because Adam did this so brilliantly two years ago but Paul put his totally cool spin on it and rocked the house. He is great!

    10. Naima Adedapo - Dancing in the Streets (Martha and the Vandellas): missed some of this since we were under a tornado warning and the EAS broke in during her performance; did catch the dancing; I so want to love her because she is unique but didn't feel it from what I saw

    11. James Durbin - Living for the City (Stevie Wonder): bring it, James! Great song choice for him; I just loved it and I love him; he's kind of adorable; loved what Steven said "it takes a little bit of crazy to make a difference in this world"

Favorites were James, Paul, Jacob, and Casey with Haley a runner up. Scotty too.

So the Idols moved out of their mansion because they said it was haunted.

Anyways I do enjoy this season and I really like the judges but I wish they would give a little more honesty with the critique. I mean they have to start getting a bit mean soon.

Not sure what the posting problems are specifically, but we'll look into it.

My favorites in order last night were James, Jason, Casey, Scotty and Lauren. Naima would be right behind that group. I'm getting very bored with Paul and would like to see him in the bottom three, but I'm thinking it will be Haley, Thia and Stefano or possibly Naima again.

Holy Moly!!! For real can you believe those results!!! Happy for the outcome but should have never had that person in the bottom.

James looked like he was going to crap his pants when Hulk Hogan came out. That whole portion was pretty cheesey though.

I actually liked the results show tonight from start to finish. Typically these results shows are cheesy, but I liked the group song culminating in the surprise (at least to me and also apparently to the Idol judges) appearance of Stevie Wonder and the birthday song to Steven Tyler. I also really like Sugarland's song Stuck on You (it's just a fun song) and then the results actually had some suspense and interesting twists. I guess nobody really deserved to go home after last night's songs and nobody did.

But they used that save early, which will make for an interesting rest of the year.

I, too, thought it was cheesey but I loved how he reacted. Just like a little kid... or me if Hulk Hogan were to pop up!! He had more of a reaction to the Hulk then Steven Tyler.

I like Casey and don't think he should have gone home... I would have rather seen Naima go home.

Hulk still has guns for someone who is 57 and a half.

I also enjoyed tonight. Steven Tyler's birthday was this past Saturday (he's 63 now) but I guess five days late isn't that late.

And while Casey didn't deserve bottom three, and certainly not the absolute bottom, he's definitely lost his momentum. There are a lot of really talented guys, and he's been lost among the shuffle a bit.

Who was being bleeped out so much tonight? I couldn't tell who was cursing half the time.

Or two days early. His birthday is this coming Saturday, March 26th. :p

What a fun (and exciting!) results show! I loved the Hulk Hogan thing. Ryan has been so much fun this season! Hate Sugarland and despise Jennifer Nettles and that sappy dappy song but overall it was just fun. Poor Yukon Cornelius! I thought he was going to pass out. Good call by the judges.

Apparently my posting issues have been resolved. ???

I'm still not a big fan of Paul's but he actually did a good job this week. When it was the choice of the bottom three. I was thinking it was going to be Thia. Then Stefano (though I love Stefano and would have been seriously disappointed to see him go. I thought Thia had potential, and even with her I'd be disappointed... just not surprised). I was shocked when Casey got the lowest score. I thought he was a front runner! His reaction to being saved when they cut him short in the middle of singing was priceless! I love it! Yukon Cornelius! He really does look like him!!! He did nearly faint. Partially cause he didn't expect to be saved, but also that it was done so soon and on him!!! His face turned so white!! I would not have been surprised if he had to go to the medics after that one just to catch his breath.

I also loved that whole thing with Stevie Wonder. Steven Tyler looked like he was about to pee his pants when he saw him come out. It was hilarious! I too thought that hulk Hogan thing was a bit cheesy, but what a nice surprise for James and Paul even! James went nuts! It was a very nice evening for all of them. I'm glad no one went home. And, to top that off, all 11 of them get to go on tour!

I had heard he has ulcerative colitis which is very reactive to stress (good or bad stress). That can be very painful. I hope he can make it through this as long as he doesn't get voted off.

By the way, I believe Fox changed its theme for next week's show (which I guess will have 11 contestants and send two of them packing). Originally it was supposed to be songs from the 1980s, but now it's supposed to be Elton John songs. Fantasia, Jamie Foxx and will.i.am will be performing Thursday night on the results show.

Cool! Elton John - such a prolific song writer. Lots to choose from! (And I love Jamie Foxx - awesome!)

BTW, Happy Birthday, Steven! Wish I was there to give him a squeeze in person!

Thanks Eliza. :good: Poor guy!! He should be enjoying all this and just concentrating on it all and he has to deal with that too. :(

SHE is the reason I stopped watching Idol. After she won I knew America was not paying attention at all. I am excited about the Elton John songs. :good: :good:

I missed it, but saw the elimination! Luckily in CA everything is on later! I saw that part! I wondered what happened with Casey. PHEW! Glad he's safe!
