American Idol Season 10 (2011)

I called the bottom three as Lauren, Stefano and Jacob...I was really suprised Pia (because of her amazing voice) was in the bottom three, let alone the one sent home!! I think with some coaching she could have maybe had some better stage presence.
Everyone is so good-it will be shocking each week.

 

It's surprising, but I agree she probably appeals to an older generation.. very Celine/Mariah/Whitney type. Oh well, there's bound to be a few upsets along the way. I have no doubt she'll have a recording contract by the time her Idol tour is over.

ITA about the way Scotty holds his microphone.. it drives. me. bonkers. Your knuckles can bend, dude.

 

I am not a huge fan of anyone who was in the bottom 3 last night, so I was fairly happy with that. Surprised a bit that it was Pia who went home, but despite her amazing voice I found her to be really boring.

Scotty drives me nuts. Good voice, but I can't watch him sing. :crazy:

 

I don't get what was so shocking about her going home and why they all stressed how important it is that the fans call in. Someone is going home each week, everyone left at this point is good. Is it going to be a huge shock to the judges every week when someone goes home?

Thats what I was saying last night ! SOMEONE is going to get the least amount of votes no matter how many people vote. Obviously Pia wasn't the next American Idol. Only 1 person gets to win .. so eventually each person, no matter how good the JUDGES think they are, will be going home.
Why try to make US feel guilty ??

 

I didn't hear them say last night what the theme is for next week, so I don't know how accurate this info is, but rumor in the online world is that the theme is Songs from the Movies. ardon: We'll see, I guess.

Jennifer Lopez was really over the top last night with her crying over Pia. Is she going to do this every week now? (Although I must admit, from here on out I do get so teary, knowing how much this means to those kids.)

What bugs me is they tell them to bring it every week, and for how many weeks now have they been telling Pia to shake it up a little? You get one shot every week and everyone else does too. If you don't bring it bring it, there's a good chance others will and you might be in jeopardy.

 

With all the attention Pia is getting for getting booted, she'll get a record album. Those producers are looking for people that bring in the attention. Pia got that down! She's got a good voice. She'll get the one on one coaching and she'll make an album and tour just like she always wanted. She won't get the free car and the 1mill at the end, but she'll make it all just fine with the album she will be making. No doubt!

I'm sad that she left though. I did think she was going to be one of if not the last woman standing in the competition. As far as the rest of the contestants, I am a Stefano fan, but he was the only one that got any negative comment from the judges. I was sure he was going to go. I don't like Jacob much, but he did alright this week. I really don't like Paul (as you all know), but he too did a good job this week. I didn't like Lauren's version of Natural Woman. I thought she sounded pretty weak. I was thinking she was going to be in the bottom this time as well. I'm not the biggest fan of Haley either, but she's been good lately. I still don't think she's going to win the whole thing, though. Scotty did great! I'm glad he finally stepped out of his country tunes and tried on something different. Well, different to the competition, but apparently not to him. Good song choice...odd body movements though....then again, Joe Cocker was a little odd too when he got in to his songs. Again I thought Casey did great! I was hoping he'd bring that bass back on stage! I'd have called Lauren, Paul, Stefano from my list to be in the bottom, but I only got one right. What do I know? The number of women seems to be dwindling. Who's left? Haley and Lauren? Yikes!! It seems the audience has decided this is a man's competition this year!

This is my one gripe with the judges. I feel that everyone is "wonderful". Lets bring Simon in and get a bit mean.

There is now talk that Pias online voting was not working and people want her back on the show.

 

I heard that, too. I say move on already, people! (not you, Chrissy, but the people who are so upset & making up excuses). Everyone is in such an uproar, she will be fine. We all remember Chris Daughtry, right?!

 

Pia will be fine - in fact, she'll probably get her record contract earlier now than if she had gone through to the end. Supposedly she met with Warner Brothers/Electra today.

And she also revealed in a press conference today that she would have sung "Somewhere" from West Side Story next week if she was still competing, so I think songs from the movies is the theme for sure. And I'm really mad now because that's one of my favorite songs ever, and she would have been amazing doing it (it's one of Barbara Streisand's signature songs at her concerts). Maybe my style of music I prefer is just too boring for the rest of you.

I'll make an early prediction on next week with Jacob singing Climb Every Mountain from Sound of Music. He's already done the I Can Fly song from the Bugs Bunny movie so he can't sing that one again Has Lauren done Mama Kim's Aerosmith song yet - that's from a movie too.

 

Oooh, I hope she does that one, it is one of my all time favorite songs. :wub:

 

Yeah, I thought the whole "Pia's going to win" thing was really misplaced. When Mariah/Celine/Whitney were doing this stuff it wasn't adult easy listening--it was pop. So make it modern or sing something else. Seriously, I was not a fan. She's a singing doll. The lights are on but no one is home.

I would rather have seen Stefano go though. He just annoys me now. His "I'm really emotional" face looks like "Put another dollar in my g string baby." Creepy.

The thing about this year is that even the people I don't like, it's not their singing. It's personality or lack thereof. If we could get rid of Stefano, Scotty, and Jacob, I'll be a happy camper.

I'm wanting Jacob to go. I like Stefano, but there are other guys I like MUCH better.

My final 4 are: Scotty (because I think it's realistic), Haley (one girl has to make it further) Casey and James. (I'd prefer Paul to be in there, so if no girls make it to final 4 - then add Paul. This is my guess, not what I actually WANT!)

And you know, we like what we like. I didn't dislike Pia's voice at all but she herself was uninteresting to me. I think that was the problem. I am looking for more of an artist, someone interesting, who can perform. She will develop it over time.

That's exactly it. Everyone is talented right now just some have more onstage personality than others. Insert Lauren for Scotty and those are my bottom three too. The others have a unique quality about them, something that makes them stand out from the crowd.

Please. The voting was messed up, Get over it. At this point, it's going to be someone's favorite going home every week. I hope Jennifer has enough tissues!

 

Songs from the Movies? I guess that means Scotty could do Elvis again (but I certainly hope he doesn't). Maybe Lauren can sing Firework by Katy Perry since apparently every single movie coming out these days targeted to the tween generation (which my kids see in commercial after commercial) features that song. And Casey can always go back to his first choice last week and try Every Little Thing She Does is Magic.

Actually that's a theme I'd like to hear although I would like to see some creative approaches (and I think Casey, James and Paul could hopefully find something unique in that broad category). With just Haley and Lauren left among the girls, I think we're safe from hearing either Celine Dion or Whitney Houston. I wonder if Paul tries to do a solo of that song that won the Academy Award a few years ago (Falling Slowly). Nah, I could see him doing Footlose. They did Live and Let Die as the group song a few weeks ago but James could try it by himself and could probably do pretty well with it. And Jacob could stick with Michael Jackson and do 'Ben'.

And if Pia isn't around to do Somewhere from West Side Story, I'll put a plug in for my all-time favorite movie musical, Oliver!, and hope that someone does one of the great songs from that film/musical. Haley could probably handle As Long as He Needs Me (which I think other Idol singers have done in the past) and Casey would probably do a cool version of anything sung by Fagin ('You've Got to Pick a Pocket or Two' would be so cool to see modernized on Idol) Jacob could probably handle 'Who Will Buy', 'I'd Do Anything' or ''Where is Love?'... They could get really original with this, but we'll probably end up with Stefano doing Bryan Adams and Lauren doing something from either Aladdin or Little Mermaid.

That's who I hope it's going to be. I like Scotty! His lip-curling is a little annoying but he seems like a sweet kid. Haley has been growing on me. And I started voting for James after Steven Tyler said if James makes it to the finals he'd perform with him.

Good grief! Pia already has a recording contract in place. She's probably better off being out of the competition and getting a head start on her non-Idol album. Apart from a couple of the girls, most of the Idol winners are hardly ever heard from again, but there are many who lost out who are highly successful. I'd say that just about everyone that is left will end up with a recording contract at some point.

 

With all the fuss about her being voted off, she is probably way better off than if she would have won. There has been so much talk on the news & everywhere else, that even people who don't watch AI know who she is now.

 

That's ridiculous. Like others said, she'll be fine!!! I heard the same thing that she's got some deal going and is seeing someone who is famous??? I don't feel bad at all that this happened to her, she'll be big no matter who she signs with if she is meant to make it. :good: Poor Stefano though.

I also agree with all y'all who said she's better off now that they've made a fuss over her! That is a HORRIBLE thing to do to Stefano! IT's AMERICA's SHOW - we get to choose and we didn't choose PIA! SIMPLE!

 

They were talking about this on Hoda and Kathie Lee this morning. Apparently Nigel Lythgoe has said he can't reveal specifics but that Pia was never a front runner vote wise. So who knows? Poor Stefano. As for Pia has anyone else heard the rumor that she is supposedly hooking up with Mark Ballas from DWTS?

 

Ugh, get over it people! It doesn't surprise me at all that she wasn't a front runner. Didn't I call it a couple weeks ago that she wouldn't even be in the final four? Stefano needs to go too, but let's not pretend Pia had a shot of winning this.

It seems like it's going to come down to a vote for genres - do you go for heavy metal, country, gospel, rock or whatever genre you want to put Casey in?

I'm thinking Stefano and Haley will be in bottom three, but I'd put Paul in there too. Casey was cool, but his fans better come out and vote for him because if it's voters based on song choice he won't get any voters under the age of 40. And I also wish Scotty had sung Everybody's Talking from Midnight Cowboy as I think that would have been a bigger night for him. It was interesting to see how many didn't take the advice of Jimmy Iovine except for Jacob who certainly benefitted from that suggestion.

 

Wednesday nights are now swimming nights for my girls so I had to rush through the show on DVR. But based on a quick run-thru, Paul was incredibly off-key. I HATED that song and I am absolutely ready for him to go home. Seriously, his shtick would work fine in a second-rate Vegas nightclub but that's about it.

Most of the others were okay but nothing great. Stefano was better than most I'd say but not by much. I thought Lauren was just off tonight for some reason. I wish Scotty had stuck with his original song choice but I'm glad they changed Jacob's song choice to what they did.

My favorite of the night without question was James however. He absolutely slayed a song and genre that I don't care for, but you couldn't deny the energy level. And while I don't know much about heavy metal, I recognize Zakk Wylde from Guitar Hero so it was cool he got to rock with a legend.

BTW, TMZ.com is reporting that Scotty is destroying everyone in the voting. So while it's fun to debate who we like and dislike, it wouldn't shock me at all if we have a run-away country singer winning this year, like Carrie Underwood did 5-6 seasons ago.

 

I think Stefano, Paul and Haley are going to be bottom three.
