American Idol 2009

Per order Ryan. I just reset my DVR to record the next 10 minutes after the show ending time. I wonder if it will go even further over than that ?

Well, both Kris and Adam should be proud. They are both amazing in their own way. I am voting for Adam because I still think his voice is stellar and he is vocally much better but Kris is as cute as a button and I love his style too. All in all, amazing performers.

But -- Kara's song? AWFUL!!!! I hated it. Why oh why do they make them sing those sappy songs?

Now, off to vote for the amazing, the phenomenal, the wonderful, the fantastic multi-talented rock star, ADAM LAMBERT!!!!

 

I have been attempting to vote for the adorable, talented, heartfelt singer, musician, KRIS ALLEN!!! :wub:

Yes, I dialed the "05" number. You may want to try the "06" for Kris. They really are both great so it's a win-win in my opinion!

 

I've tried all three numbers -- busy, busy, busy. I just keep trying!

 

I wasn't too happy with the show tonight really. No performance was drop dead awesome although A Change Is Going To Come was my favorite. Kris did fine with Ain't No Sunshine. That last song was horrid but what else is new.

Adam will win and Kris will do fine too. Adam will sell out arena shows with some rock band while Kris will be playing the smaller, intimate stage shows. Adam is the superior singer and Kris is the superior musician - I wonder if he writes songs too?

ETA - I think Adam is 27 now. Kris turns 24 next month.

Last year I think I had mine set for 10 minutes and I know you will think I am being untruthful here but I watched with a group of friends and the last thing we heard was and the winner is David (do you want to delete this program). It was soo ironic it was beyond funny. I think we all laughed for at least an hour afterwards while trying to figure out who won.

Ugh that song was so late 80's early 90's Michael Bolton sounding ballad. I prefered Adam tonight but also think that Kris did a great job. I think Adam sang the last song better.

Chrissy, did you watch the show when you got home? :lol: Are you obsessed? And how were Elton and Billy?

BTW, I'm not so sure Adam is going to win. I think Kris has a strong following. Either way, I am happy. I do think Adam deserves to win because he never had a bad week and he was consistently on top of his game, and he can sing the pants off anyone, but Kris also has worked incredibly hard from beginning to end to get where he is and that is something too. His voice is not nearly as strong but he is so gosh darn cute.

In two hours time, I got through maybe 10-15 times for Adam. It was busy, busy, busy. All three numbers. From the sound of things, Kris's numbers were equally as busy. I'll bet it's a close race.

I agree that Adam is a very good performer. He can act on stage and sing and because he has both of those he has a great stage presence.

Kris can sing with heart and as Mark wrote "Kris is the superior musician". He sings and plays instruments. Skills that Adam does not have.

So they both have something the other does not.

 

Yep I am obsessed and watched when I got home. I was up past 1 am. That is ok I took the day off today.

Billy and Elton was AMAZING. So much fun. We had great seats. One of my little brothers did not go so my friend went with me. My mom was down in the 4th floor row though and we were in the 9th on the side. Super fun. Billy interacted a bit more with the audience but I loved it.

Yeah, that song was horrible. IMO, a low point for both contestants.

With their comments, the judges seemed to be writing Kris off by the end of the night.

It was great, wasn't it? We had a fabulous time!! I met Rachel briefly after the show and need to post our pic. I was almost in tears during Piano Man. Can you imagine having a crowd that large singing your own song back to you? Wow.

Big mistake. Kris is a talented performer in his own right. It's hard because Adam is larger than life with that amazing voice so I do think Kris tends to be overshadowed. If this were any other season on AI, though, I think Kris would be recognized as the talented artist he is. I do think he stands a great chance of winning tonight!

 

I hated that Kara was saying how great it was to hear her song and it made her feel so good. Did she really need to bring that up? Get over it. I agree with a PP that the sappy song at the end is horrible. Can't it just be a normal song? Or maybe give each contestant words and a basic arrangement and let them make it their own.

 

Finally got a chance to watch "Idol" from last night. End opinion, I think Adam has more vocal talent and star quality but Kris is good. Really not pulling for one or the other this go around. I think winner or not, both will go on to make it.

It's interesting because I was just talking to my friend in LA. I was his date at age 13 for his Bar Mitzvah and the last girl that he ever liked. We always laugh about that. Anyway, he's now a big time make-up artist and stylist out in Hollywood for many celebs. He and his boyfriend are big Kris fans. He said that they LOVE Kris because they think he is the real deal...singer/songerwriter type....and much hotter. They think Adam has a fake rocker vibe....and he's look is way overdone. I don't see Adam as a poser. I think he is rockstar on the basis of his voice.

They sang Piano Man for you :huh: Just kidding It was great!! I loved Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. That was my Fav.


Ok, back to AI. I think that Simon is really just in awe of Adam and truely knows that he is amazing. It is probably really hard for him to hide that.

 

Last night was kinda eh....Adam's "Change" was HOT and I did love Kris's first song (can't think of it because the little Mermaid is singing behind me).

I wasn't SUPER impressed with Simon Fuller's picks. Naturally I would have chosen Queen or GnR for Adam and let him go nuts, but I do love those long notes that he hits.

They both just seem like SUCH NICE KIDS! Really!!! I will be super happy for either of them. I do think that all around Adam is better but have loved Kris since the early rounds (voted for him for about an hour to get him into the final 13!).

I always liked Clay better than Ruben, so either way - they will be FINE! They are both going to be stars!!!

Well said, Diane. I agree completely. While I love, love, love Adam and think he is vocally light years beyond Kris, I also love what Kris brings to the table. They are both wonderful in their own ways. And both will do well. And both seem so genuinely nice. I love that!!

 

Comments on the performers during the finale?

I thought Keith Urban and Kris were great with their duet. I also liked the return of Nick for his award acceptance. The group dancing behind Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas stole my outfit I was going to wear to the wedding I'm going to this weekend. Oh well, I'll just have to pick out some other suit.

ETA: Okay, new highlight for the show for me. Actually two highlights. Umm, I'll leave it there. Let's just say Vision of Love is my new favorite song...

I am watching it delayed show because my children wanted to watch Beetlejuice

I just got finished watching two women who imo cannot sing. My DH said (I am embarrassed about this) which one has the bigger bum?

Some random thoughts:

Obviously, Adam and Kris are both talented and will be successful. I actually think that the peson who doesn't become the American Idol has a different type of opportunity becasue they aren't attached to the label. I wish them both luck.

Ok, I want to HOW American Idol decideds who is going to be on the show....(Cindi Lauper and Lionel Richie, for example :huh: ). I actually liked both of them, but was surprised to see them.

Adam and Kiss was very cool, he seemed to be having a blast.

The only disappointment I have is that we never got to see Adam sing Queen.

I thought the hole Vision of Love thing was hysterical.

Lastly, even thought Paula is a toatl cheese ball, I still love her!

 

Oh I wish my boys were up to see that Adam performance. They recently had seen an episode of Fairly Odd Parents with Kiss in it and had no clue Kiss was a real band

 

OM Goodness! I just watched Kara and bikini girl sing. I cannot believe Kara flashed the audience and did you see Simons jaw drop?

 

I LOVE me some Cyndi Lauper! I thought that was a great performance of a classic song.

Kim, you are going to think we are all obsessed with YOU because all I could think of watching the Adam/Kiss performance, was that you must be peeing your pants! That was quite the performance.

I also loved Kris and Keith Urban.

Bikini Girl and Kara? :blink: :vava: :shok: and mostly: :bad:

One final thought, how in God's name did Megan make the top 13? Ugh

I think the first thing EVERYONE noticed about bikini girl was her new girls. My husband commented on it as soon as we saw her.

What was Queen Latifah wearing?? :blink: Definitely not something she should have been wearing. And she usually looks good, knows how to dress for her size.

I liked Kris and Keith Urban. Loved the Cyndi Lauper and Lionel Richie (of course with their Idol contestants) as a good child of the 80s should! And KISS and Adam were good. My neighbor across the street would probably die if he knew KISS was on AI. He is a KISS fan through and through, even has a room dedicated to them in his house.

Off to watch "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?"
