You know what song I would love to hear Adam sing (nothing to do with Disco). Don't Cry by GNR.

He could do it justice, that's for sure. I'm convinced he can sing just about anything. And sell it.

    I agree :)

This was my favorite Carrie performance however... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abBCQcFlUWY

Actually watching both shows that there's no doubt Carrie is the best female contestant they've ever had (I did miss the first three seasons though so I guess I should say in the last five years, she's the best female they've had). I think I'd give the nod to Alone over Macarthur Park too and I do remember Simon's comment at the time that she would win Idol and sell more records than any other Idol performer (which probably came true...)

I couldn't find any newer data than last year but I did find this Nielsen Company tidbit:

    QUOTE
Kelly Clarkson is the best selling American Idol contestant with album and digital download sales of 18.9 million. Carrie Underwood is second with album and digital download sales of 15.7 million.

ETA: Here is a more recent article. Looks like Underwood is sure to beat her eventually. :)

I think lil and anoop should go this week, though kris is a close 3rd as he just bores me. Think the final is going to be Adam (of course) allison and danny. x

As much as I am afraid for Disco Night, lol, it could be fun too, depending upon what they sing and how its sung, kwim? BTW, as I type I'm listening to The Gap Band. "You dropped a bomb on me . . . baby" For the record, I lived through the Disco Era (high school) and have some nostalgia for the old disco hits, but it really was cheesy. Thank God the 70's had Queen, Led Zep, Aerosmith, the Stones, etc., to balance out all that Disco!

For your viewing/listening enjoyment: 70's disco compilation - gosh I was SO IN LOVE with Andy Gibb back in the day!! Barry Gibb too. And KC, what happened? He used to be such a cutie! Oh, and I still can do The Hustle.

okay I went to that link and enjoyed it so much. I was sitting here just listening ... or so I thought. I glanced up for a second to see my children looking at me with shocked and confused looks on their faces. That was when I realized I was not just looking and listening I was sitting but I was not sitting still and I was singing along. Now my children are used to me singing and dancing (usually to the music in my head  ) but I guess I was doing it a bit more than usual. My son finally decided to speak and said "why are you dancing?" I answered "because I'm happy" That music was so energetic and happy.

Lil never agrees with the judges no surprise she did not tonight. She needs to go.

Chris put his own sound into the song and it was good.

I know Paula can go off on tangents sometimes but how could Simon not understand what she was saying???

Danny was good but he sounds the same every week

I did not like Allison tonight. She was missing something tonight. What was up with her outfit also?

ADAM WAS GREAT! I totally did not think he was going to sing a song NOT discoISH. He could have gone way out there but chose not to. He was AMAZING!

Matt sang well but I have to agree with Simon it was not great

Anoop has facial hair! That was a bit to slow imo. He sounded nice but he is one of my bottom 3

Lil - Matt - Anoop Bottom 3 with Allison following close behind

I am really hoping Lil and Matt are done after tonight.

Kris and Adam were my favorites tonight.
(what was deal with Kris putting his arm around Ryan's waist during judging?)

Danny was good, but he is getting king of boring to me as he seems the same every week, consistently good, but doesn't Jazz it up so to speak.

I also enjoyed Anoop, was not crazy about Allison's performance.

I liked Kris, Adam, Anoop, Matt. Danny was a bit boring, although I do love him. Allison was okay and it's time for Lil to go home.

Ahhh man, ADAM, he NEVER disappoints!!!!! And Kris was excellent tonight. My top two of the night.

You know, I did not think anyone was really awful tonight. Lil was my least favorite. I enjoyed Danny (saw EW&F in concert last year and they are amazing!). Allison was great. Matt and Anoop both sang well just not standout arrangements, imo.

I thought there were some great SONGS tonight but not great performances or arrangements.

Lil and Matt should get bonus points for actually doing disco songs in a disco format. But neither were great. Lil did I'm Every Woman and Matt did Staying Alive. I think they both are in trouble.

Kris was my favorite although not only did he not do a disco song (She Works Hard For the Money), it wasn't even from the disco era. But it was a really cool Santana/Doobie Brothers arrangement and he nailed it.

I liked Adam I guess (he did If I Can't Have You from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack), but I would have loved him to do Anoop's song instead (Dim Out The Lights by Donna Summer). That would have been a classic if Adam had sung it and instead Anoop was just eh. He missed a few notes if you ask me.

Danny was okay but paled in comparison to Phillip Bailey and Earth, Wind and Fire's original of September. Allison was probably the worst she's been all year but I think she's still safe - she did another Donna Summer song in Bad Girls although it was a hard rock style.

I think Lil, Matt and Anoop are in the most danger but Allison shouldn't feel too comfortable either. Kris, Danny and Adam should be safe.

I cannot even being to IMAGINE how horrendous disco night would have been if the songs had all actually been sung by these contestants in a disco arrangement (well, except for Adam who already kicked butt on a disco song). I was so happy they did alternative arrangements for the most part. Adam is the only one with enough chops to pull off true disco, imo.

I guess I can agree with that although it's funny that the two who stuck the closest to the theme - Lil and Matt - might be the ones most in trouble. But I think some of the group could have just sped up the songs at one point or another. I would have liked to seen Anoop kick it into overdrive near the end. I thought Kris did the best arrangement of the night and include Danny and Adam in my top three. Nothing blew me away tonight.

ADAM was amdazing. He blew me away tonight. I am so ready for Danny and Matt to go. I thought Lil was better tonight. I thought Allison was good. Anoop put me to sleep. Kris was wonderful.

But seriously, Adam was the ebst. I think the final 2 should be Kris and Adam.

I also think that Adam and Kris are my top 2! Allison is GREAT, but I am having a hard time reconciling her being 16 with her look and they way they dress her and the maturity of her songs. I think she'll have a great career, however and HOPE that she does!! She's my #3 or #4 she and Danny flip flop on that position for me!

I voted for about 40 min. for Kris and Adam. Don't want people to NOT vote because they ASSUME they'll be safe, so I voted!

The night was "just alright" for me DAWGS!

I'm in agreement with most everyone here: Adam and Kris were great. By far the best of the remaining contestants. Danny was good, but nothing special or stand-out with his performance or vocals. Allison, eh, same old, same old. And with Matt, too, been there, done that performance. Anoop put me to sleep, too, if fact I didn't even finish watching him, thanks to DVR ;) . Lil's problem with that song choice was there were hardly any words! Mostly just screaming.

So, my guess is Lil and Matt going home, possibly Anoop if it's not Matt.

I voted for the better part of an hour for Adam, but could only get through about 50% of the time. I am trying a different tactic in voting this year and only voting for my very favorite. But I really hope Kris continues on. He has become my second favorite. :D

Yes! I saw Vince Neil!! He's got some BAD split ends! I'm sure he was there to see Adam!

I voted while I watched the end of Biggest Loser. I had to talk to Dh on the East Coast, so that cut into my voting time. I only voted for Kris because he REALLY deserves to be there and get through to the end. I voted for him when they were in the 36 round to get him into the top 12 for a long long time. I guess I'm invested in him.
But I had to vote for Adam 1/2 the time. So really I probably didn't help THAT much, but those votes (IMO) are NON-votes for everyone else.

Anoop was visibly disappointed in his final note he hit! He knew he blew it! Anoop and Lil or Lil and Matt. That's how it's going down! (I hope) I'm getting over Allison, I think I said that last night - can't remember!

Dial Idol has Allison and Kris in the bottom 2 which is a bunch of BS. Sorry but if they wasted their save on Matt last week and these 2 go home, I am going to be mad. Kris showed last night he has what it takes.

    http://www.dialidol.com/asp/predictions/predictions.asp

It has Lil in the top. She obviously has a fan base.

HOw about Vince Neils woman last night.

Ok, finally watching this since I had to DVR it last night.

My favorites were Kris, Adam, Danny, Anoop and Matt. Allison's performance was kinda boring, and Lil was horrible. I think she really needs to go! And I gotta say, I would be really surprised if Kris goes home. I thought his performance this week was the best over all. I liked Adam's but somewhere in the middle of the song, I thought he sounded like he was really screaming.... so he lost points with me.

I will be really surprised if Lil is around another week, but stranger things have happened on Idol.
