American Idol 2009

SO irritated that Lil is around for another week. BUT, the light at the end of the tunnel...two people go home next week. Odds are, she's one of them. Kudos PetiteFleur for calling the bottom three though!

 

I'm sorry. I'm having a hard time getting past disco :bad: week :bad: as next week's theme! :lol:

Ok, let's see what happens on American Adam next week!?! They can't possibly all just SIT there, right?

I am pleased with the results. I hope they can manage their time better!!! :grr: They sold TOO MANY ADS! I was DVR'ing last night, and the amt. of min. for each commercial break was UNDENIABLY high! It's their OWN GREED that's causing the show to run long!! I want the full panel again!

 

Actually I could see Adam, Lil (pick something by Donna Summer please!) and Allison all doing well in Disco Week. It will be tougher for the ballad singers, but they could find something that would work (Heaven Must be Missing an Angel or a slower Bee Gees song perhaps?) They just have to be careful and don't try to do KC and the Sunshine Band or something really cheesy!

You could also find someone try to modernize a Disco classic and come up with something special - that's really what Kris or Matt need to do at this point. Anoop should try to give a modern spin on Barry White's Can't Get Enough of Your Love.

 

I can't believe they used the save on Matt! For at least the 3 past weeks they haven't liked his song choices nor his performances of them. I really thought they'd save "the save" for someone like Allison, Danny, or God forbid, Adam! Disco week should be really interesting.

 

I think they were starting to think they would never use it and that wouldn't have made Idol history.

 

Probably but the closer it got to the Top 5, the greater the chances someone "good" would be going home, so they'd still have had time to use it!

I don't like Simon all the time because he can be rude but Simon is the only judge that is honest with them. If it were up to Paula to make the final decision the SAVE would have been used a long time ago. It should either be Kara that bows out or they need to give them more actual show time. How were they able to critique the top 8 but not the top 7 ??

I think it was silly that they saved Matt. I agree it should have been saved for an Idol like Adam, Allison or Danny. I really thought they were not going to and then BAM Simon said "It's good news". Now that it's done I'm okay with it because two will go home next week BUT what if Adam, Allison or Danny somehow fell into the bottom 3 next week.

Yup, no one went home and 2 go home next week. I think they wasted the save, IMO. Simon was right, he's been in the bottom 2 before, he'll never win. They should have saved the save for next week ...

Oh wow, that is a waste... I think they should have just let him go, it will happen next week anyway..

 

If they didn't use it this week, they would've only had one more week to use it, right? Maybe that's why they want ahead and used it now. I'll be interested to see what everyone does next week for Disco week. So many of them don't move around that they really have to with Disco, don't you think? Adam is the only one that puts on a show while he is singing, maybe it's that he's that much more experienced in showmanship than the others are?

It's going to be a scary week.... I feel a little nauseous thinking about it.. but I guess "I will survive"!!!

Sorry the save was a huge waste. I really hope that Allison or someone else is not in the bottom 3 next week. Matt has no shot of winning so he should not of been saved. I think Lil getting mouthy with the judges earned her votes. Plus I really do think she has potential she just has not been showing it at all.

I hope the judges do not kick themselves next week for saving Matt. If you have been in the bottom 3 more than once it is obviously you are not a fan favorite.

But only one can win so they are all *but 1* going to have to go home at some point. Hopefully Adam, Allison and Danny will be 1 - 2 and 3

 

See I hope the final 3 is Adam, Allison and Kris. I think Kris has a more commercial sound.

 

I'd be happy with either Adam, Allison, and Kris, or Adam, Allison, and Danny.

BTW, I've got a whole little Adam playlist on my iPod and I cannot stop listening. So amazing.

 

I'd be happy with Adam, Kris, Danny for my final three. I just don't care much for Allison. No personality and all her songs sound the same to me.

I felt bad for Kris who missed out on Simon saying his was brilliant immediately after his song.

I'm thinking that with the number of contestants dwindling (well, not this week), that there should be plenty of time for all 4 judges to speak.

Disco week could be great or it could be a disaster. I remember when they had disco week the year Carrie Underwood won it (although they called it 70s dance music instead). She sang MacArthur Park and was incredible. In fact that was the week that I realized she would be a star. All the talk about Adam is great but she's the best contestant I've seen since watching this show (I've been watching it since that season).

Take a look at her performance. This isn't the best video quality but includes the interview before hand the judges comments.

I had NO idea that's what that song was called!! :laughing: That was a great job by Carrie!! In my little world it's called "someone left the cake out in the rain" :rofl:

 

Carrie is pretty good. But in my opinion, Adam's vocal ablities blow even Carrie Underwood out of the water. (And that was a great rendition of MacArthur Park.) Then again, I am generally not a fan of female vocalists with the exception of a few like Pink. I tend to like the male voices much better. I always have.

I personally think Adam is the best American Idol contestant ever and there have been some very good ones over the years. He's just the total package and was born to perform, imo.

Thanks for the clip of Carrie, though, Mark. It's fun to revisit them in the days before they were a star.

Big hand mic, Big hair and Big voice but I have to agree with Kim. Adam is a total package not just with his vocals. He can sing both the lows and the highs of a song unlike Carrie with this song at least imo. She lost sound when she sang the quieter parts of a song. I could not even tell what she was singing when she walked out along the stage toward the audience. Adam has it all highs, lows, personality, heart, and stage presence. (did I spell that correctly?)

I have to say that I do think she is better than Kelly Pickler though.

I was thinking the same thing. Someone has to do some BeeGees too. Donna Summer. KC & the Sunshine Band. Earth Wind & Fire. Kool & the Gang. Barry White. Adam already did some Wild Cherry. There were a lot of one hit wonders in the disco era too plus some main stream artists who went a little disco in the 70's (Rolling Stones, Kiss, Queen) so there is stuff all over the place. Could be interesting to hear some of the song choices to say the least.

 

You know what song I would love to hear Adam sing (nothing to do with Disco). Don't Cry by GNR.
