They did not save Michael, no surprise there. I've been sappy with people going in past seasons, but so far not this year, except for Alexis. I liked her a lot and looked forward to seeing her more. Anyway, I'm not really "attached" to anyone this season to have a lot of feelings for them. Not sure why....
I really can't believe why Megan wasn't in the bottom three. Are people voting for her because she's "stunning" (per Paula)???? It can't be for her performances. :umm:
I don't know. I like Megan a lot because she is different and unique. I did not like her performance this week, and I don't think she will win or even come close, but I was not surprised she stayed this week. She is adorable, which works to her advantage, and the judges like her for the most part. I actually think they may have considered saving her if she had been the one voted off. FWIW, her recording of Walking After Midnight from last week is awesome. That was her song, and she gave it her jazzy little edge. I downloaded the single and love it! I am always interested every week to see what she will do. Considering she has had no formal training, I think she's pretty amazing. But I cannot see her lasting much longer because the other singers are just too good! ----> ADAM LAMBERT!!!! ;)

For the record, I adore Joss Stone. I missed the performance with Smokey though.

And how much do I love Stevie Wonder? :D

I am sure she's very talented. Can't think of her music - but she just looked like she was either a)trying to hard to be hippy bohemian chic or she was b) altered. That was my take on it. I don't know the song, but it wasn't all that for me!

It would stand to reason that Megan will get better and better as the weeks progress, right? I mean, aren't they working with them all? Vocally etc... So she could really do something if she gets some training. (She really has a hard time with rhythm though  )

Stevie is a huge Obama supporter, he was just giving a shout out.

Can I just say those group performances are horrible!!!!!

They were not singing live tonight and these group performances are horrible. I know they are not professional but this group as a whole are not coordinated. A few have some moves and do well on their own but as a group they are horrible.

Does anyone know for sure they are not singing live?

There was an article in Pop eaters (aol news) about them singing to their recorded voices.

Thanks for the link to the story and poll.

    The poll question is interesting

Does it bother you the group performances are prerecorded?

While it does not really bother me I do think they should be doing it live if they are calling the show live. But then again they are not professionals and they do not really know how to perform (dance and sing) live.

Not that I have seen that many seasons shows but from the ones I have seen this seasons contestants group performances are goofy.

Like I said before, Megan, with lots of training, could be very good indeed. But as is.....uh not so much. JMHO. If she had it all together at this point then I think she'd be a front runner.

Cheryl, I think this is all prep for the tour after the show ends! Michael said in his exit interview that it is recorded because they need that support with all the dancing and stuff. (they are cheesy because it's really basic stuff. Move here, keep the beat, move there, keep the beat....)

Exactly! She just hasn't had any training. There is raw potential there, she just has to learn what to do (and not to do) with it. She won't win and she will be going home soon, I think, but I'm not surprised she is still there for the time being.

I never watch the group performances so don't care about them one way or another.

By the way, I believe next week's theme is the Itunes top 100. I'm guessing I won't know most of those songs, but hopefully there are some good songs I'll get to hear for the first time. Lots of Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana, Taylor Swift, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Kanye West, Lil Wayne (for Lil Rounds?), Beyonce, Pussycat Dolls, Rhianna, Pink and a good selection of country songs too. (Journey's Don't Stop Believing is on there too? So is Smokey Robinson's Tracks of My Tears so Adam's influence must have led to that one joining the list)

 I'm right there with ya, Craig. I don't have an iPod and most likely never will. I'm forever listening to "classic rock" stations so the only way I hear new songs is on AI or when my kids listen to Radio Disney in the car.

    WHAT YOU DON'T SEE
PAULA AND KARA IGNORE EACH OTHER OFF CAMERA

Though this was not something new. It is interesting to see it worded this way

Kara and Randy Jackson have an excellent rapport. And Abdul, when she's not in her own little world, can be seen talking to Simon Cowell, who -- reading his facial expressions -- treats her like a sometimes-adorable-sometimes-insufferable pet.

    ......

I did not know what that song was that Anoop sang and I did not like it.

Megan was boring and again I did not know that song either. She has a fun style but I did not like it

I think I heard the song Danny sang. He sounded nice. His voice is full of emotion and depth

Allison was not great this week. This was not her best performance

Scott had some nice moments in the song but I did not like the whole thing. Better than the first 2 but not one of the best of the night

I did not feel that song from Matt.

Lil sounded good but I still do not like her

Adam FUN!! his fun made me have fun.

    Kris nice. emotion and heart.

Kara got the count right this time

I was wondering that too. Are they in Studio 57 or something or is she just not good with numbers?

ADAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my gosh, he can do NO wrong!! How fabulous is he? Vocally, he blows every one of them right out of the water!! Such a fun song choice!! And his second comparison of the season to Steven Tyler!! :p

Kris -- my second favorite of the night. When he said what song he was doing, I knew it was going to be amazing. This is the first time he's really nailed it for me. I loved it!!

I also enjoyed Danny, although I think the judges loved him more than I did. Then again, I did not know the song. Allison was her usual rocker chick self and I thought she was great. Don't Speak is such a great song. I do agree she did get a little shouty with it though. The judges really got hung up on her outfit. Scott MacIntyre was awesome as well. Right song and right "mood" and perfect simplicity.

Anoop was boring. So was Lil Rounds. Megan Joy totally sucked. I've enjoyed her previously, but she is fast losing my favor. That was just horrid.

My fingers are tired already of dialing ADAM!!!!!! :D

Yes, Kara said Studio 57, but we all know that numbers and counting aren't her strongest suits (although as twin_trip_mommy mentioned - she did get the word count right earlier in the night). For those not familiar with the New York disco scene of the 70s, it's Studio 54, not 57. Maybe she had ketchup on her mind and was thinking Heinz 57?

Speaking of disco, what did everyone think of 70s night with Play that Funky Music, some Billy Joel and Bill Withers (Chris' song) from the 70s along with Bob Marley (I guess that's what Megan was doing - who knows with her, though). I feel badly for the one or two who really went with contemporary hits (Anoop and Matt) as they were probably in the bottom three of the night.

I just want Megan to go home. Nobody was amazing tonight although I would think we're just in a time period where the show needs to weed out those who've done just about everything we can hope for from them. So that's Megan, Anoop, Scott (even though it probably was his best performance of the year tonight) and maybe Matt and Lil. I'm thinking now the final four deserves to be Adam, Allison, Chris and Danny.

Craig I did think of your boys tonight when Kara said "I have 3 words for you" I was just waiting to be sure she could count, does woohoo count as word? ( I think she added a woohoo after artistry)

Does anyone else think Adam resembles John Stamos at all in his younger years??

    I hope megan goes too!

I was thinking Studio 57 was some concert site although a quick google shows nothing. I guess she did get the numbers wrong.

In any case, not a great night tonight. The best two for me were definitely the last two. Adam was okay but I thought a bit too much over the top. I LOVED Kris until his last few notes which I felt weren't as good as the rest of the song. But it was neat to see him on the keyboard and Allison with the guitar, even if it threw her off a bit.

Please, please, Allison sing a ballad. I even have one picked for you if they go to an 80 ballads night (Make It Real by the Jets). We know you can rock. And I was telling Darlene that Matt should sing the Fray but he should have done How To Save A Life (maybe he didn't want to be compared to a more recognizable song).

My rankings - Kris, Adam, Danny, Allison, Matt
    (everyone else)

I think Kara and Paula get along. They used to be roommates in NYC about 7 years ago.

Might as well use the Internet as my communication method with my brother instead of walking next door or asking him this question on the phone - what's your source for that tidbit? I would think Paula Abdul was a bit too famous even in the pre-Idol days before she rekindled her fame to have a roommate...

Yeah, I was like  !

I think Megan, Anoop and possibly Scott are bottom 3. I loved Danny's performance, it was a great song for him. Adam's performance was good, Allison, Kris. I still don't love Adam overall though!!

Simon looked at Kara and said it is 54 after she said 57, but I think it was off camera.

How bored did the judges look during Matts performance LOL. They showed them and they were all just looking around. I think Matt, Anoop and Meagan are going to be in trouble.

Danny did good tonight but I am still not a fan of him.

I am begging Adam to do Queen, He could rock it out!!!

And tonight was the first night that I think I recognized Chris and think he might be a contender.

Finally got to watch it!!! Just before elimination time!!!

OK, the NIGHT BELONGED TO KRIS, DANNY and ADAM - although I liked Kris better than Adam this time! I know - Shocking!!!

I agree with all who said the top 4 deserve to be those boys and Allison. I didn't really think her take on No Doubt was that great. I thought she looked fun and cute! Go figure!!!!

P.S. WE HAVE A NEW SET OF TWINS IN THE FAMILY!!!

Okay, without giving away who lost tonight (or my reaction to that choice), I just need to ask one question about the guest performers Lady GaGa (do I have their name right?) To quote Simon from earlier in the season, 'What the hell was that?' Very, very strange - from the piano that looked like an ice cube to the maniacal violinist to the dance moves to the zippered eye?

Next week the last eight sing songs from the year they were born so that's always interesting. We're talking songs from the 1980s and 90s.

I was going to ask the same thing! WTH? (and good riddance).

Ok, and why can't we talked about said person?. If someone hasn't seen the show yet, why would they be reading this thread? I say read at your own risk. You're killing me here!

All I could think about Lady Gaga was Freddy Mercury must be rolling over in his grave.

All we hear is Radio Goo Goo, Radio Ga Ga. If she somehow took her name from that song, that's horrible.

first :p I missed David. It was nice seeing him tonight and I really liked the song.

It was funny seeing them impersonate each other. You can tell they are friends.

I also have to say I liked that Ford commercial.

I would have been okay with either of the last two on the stage going home but have to admit I am perfectly fine with Megan going. I can understand her not caring what Simon had to say but she was disrespectful (typical of some of todays younger generation*) and strange tonight.

*that made me feel old typing that

OMG I love Lady GAGA. She is total fance club Diva though. Not your everday easy listening. That song is great but not so good sung live. Try listening to it on Itunes.

And does everyone just caaa like a bird???

That is exactly where she got the name. Too funny you connected it, Mark!

BTW, I've heard her on iTunes. I'm still not impressed. As Axl, I do like the fact that she never wears pants, though!
