In our neighborhood the kids make a big deal about that fact that I am sad when my kids go back to school and their parents are excited. Their feelings are so hurt by their parents words (I am sure most are half joking with what they are saying) BUT the kids take it so personally. I don't care if a parent is happy or sad but I do care if they make their kids feel like they don't want them around by joking about it or being serious with their comments.

I agree with this SO much ! I can only imagine how this makes the kids feel. There's mom jumping up and down doing the "happy" dance as your being carted off to school on a bus ! This can't be good for a child's self esteem.

One part of me can understand it because I know I could not be a stay at home mom! I am a teacher and I love the time I have with Eva during the summer, but I am always ready to get back to school and Eva is too...
That being said, I agree with you that she should have considered her options before having all of those children! It sounds like she has to work a lot harder during the summer and she does not like it!
