Thanks for the explanation Sharon.  This is definitely not my kid then (she has good hand-eye coordination, and draws and writes beautifully).  We have her 504 eligibility meeting in September for school accommodations so its nice to hear that your son's accommodations are helping him reach his academic potential!

So sorry I totally missed this.  Like most of us that have twins that are getting older, I just don't stop by here as often as I should.  The biggest way my son's visual motor processing disorder shows up is when he has to do something like copy work.  Look at the number/letter/symbol and write it down killed his IQ testing to the point that the ed. psych said that his IQ findings would be considered wrong because he was very high functioning in other areas.  He was taking FOREVER to get his school work done when everything had to be written down for answers.  I now have him use time4learning.com and he is doing so much better.  Granted as he is getting higher up in grades I am making him take more notes about what he is reading and that is back to slowing him down.

My son actually has the best handwriting of the three boys (which is saying something since he is also my lefty).  He can write if it is something coming straight from his brain, but looking at something and then writing that down is a killer.  He has issues with playing catch because it takes too long for his arms to catch up to his brain when judging where it is coming, but he succeeds in martial arts.  He does play the piano some, which was huge since it uses the same processing skills.  He will never have his sister's natural ability, but just the fact that he can do it provides processing therapy for him.

The hardest part about this particular diagnosis is that it isn't recognized as a disability (at least not here) and that they really haven't came up with many ideas on how to help the child.  My ed psych said that he really hadn't dealt with anyone with that profound difference and pretty much just refered us back to our peditrician who suggested we provide mini goals to speed him up.
