Analia (accent over the i, pronounced A-na lee-a) Patricia - On our honeymoon, on our first destination, the suite we stayed in was named Analia and we thought that would make a pretty name for a girl. We each took a picture by it too. Patricia is my mother's name.

Antonio Nicholas - after my husband and his dad (but not a junior) and goes by little tony, tony or peanut in my books and Nicholas is my father's name.

This is such a cool thread! I'm a teacher, so there are lots of names I liked but couldn't imagine using, because I'd taught kids with the same name.

    Elijah James:
We always liked the name Elijah, although there's sort of a funny story behind it... I'm Jewish, and at Passover, there's one part of the ceremonial dinner (called a Seder) where you open the door and see if Elijah the Prophet is there, since he's supposed to come back to herald the Messiah. Well, as a teenager I thought it would be hilarious to have a cat named "Elijah", so that when you opened the door, he'd be there... pretty silly, but when I got pregnant and we started talking names, I realized that I LOVE the name and its nickname "Eli", so here we are. "James" is my Dad's name, plus it's a big family name on his side. This would have been dd's name if she'd been a boy.

    William Sebastian:
We had a really hard time coming up with a 2nd boy's name, so we read a lot of name books & lists. KrazyKat, we actually considered "Isaiah" too, but rejected it for the same reason as you - too similar to Elijah. I ended up being really drawn to the name William (nn Will), and dh wasn't so keen, so we compromised with him choosing the middle name, which he liked. (I was expecting him to choose "Brian", his Dad's name, but he liked "Sebastian" better!)

I wanted both our boys to have strong, traditional names that weren't too "matchy", but that sounded ok together... I'm really happy with our choices. Also, there's a Jewish tradition of naming children to honour deceased relatives (usually by choosing names with the same initial) - it turns out that my mother's grandfathers were "Ernst" and "Walter", so without knowing it, we gave our boys similar names!

Our dd is Charlotte Emma, nn Charlie. I was friends with a Charlie/Charlotte from England years ago, and loved her name, plus it seemed like such a cute, unusual nickname for a girl. "Emma" is my favorite book (by Jane Austen)... both her names are quite common now, which seems so funny to us. I've actually met about 5 other little girls named Charlie.

Boden Robert: I hate to admit it, but Boden came when I was watching the winter olympics and skiing was on, there was a skier named Bode (sounds like "bow-dee") Miller. I LOVED the name Bode, had never heard of it before, then come to find that the skier himself did not end up being a role model or someone I wanted to name my child after. However, I saw the name Boden in a baby names book and decided it was close enough where we could name our child Bode but still not after the skier! Robert - my father-in-law's name.

Jacob Keith: My husband and I couldn't agree on names for the boys and we both like the name "Jake" or "Jacob". So no rhyme or reason for it other than that- it was something we could agree on! Keith - my dad's name.

3 year old son, Quinton Travis: My college rooomate's boyfriends' name was Quinn and I have always loved the name. We wanted a familiar name that wasn't over-used and both fell in love with the name "Quinn". Travis- my husband's name. [IMG]

When I was 15 weeks pregnant, I told my 2 sisters that the only way I would ever name a baby after them was if I had twin girls. Man, I sure thought I was funny at the time.
4 weeks later we "discovered" that I was having twin GIRLS. So, we now have Emily Suzanne & Charlotte Claire: First names are my sisters' & their middle names are our mothers'.

Pretty simple her no real meaning with the first names...but as you all know everyone(doctors, nurses and U/S techs)was calling the girls baby A and baby B so once we had our u/s that discovered the gender we thought it would be cute to name them an A name and a B name

Baby A: Allison Lena. Lena is my DH's Great Grandmother still alive at the age of 98 and because she was moving here to FL we thought it would be nice.

Baby B: Breanna Elisabeth. Elisabeth is my sisters name and my Grandmothers and my cousins middle name(but theirs is spelled with the traditional 'z'.

During delivery everyone who asked thought that would be a cute way to remeber the name in the NICU.

Nevan, I found browsing name books and Laurence from his uncle.

Nick wanted to name one Republica. I suggeste he save it for HIS kids. The next children will be Nathaniel James (courtesy Nick) and Nya Luz. We needed for names because we didn't know what we were having.

I have ALWAYS loved the name Nevan!!

DH and I are both B names so that was what we went with.

Brooklyn Kate - I liked the name Brooke but wanted something longer, my middle name (and dad and grandpa) is Lynn so I added the lyn. Kate is my Mom's middle name.

Braden Thomas - DH picked Braden and Thomas was my other Grandfathers first name.

After they were named and born I realized they had the same # of letters in their names!!

Anthony James (twin A)- Was named because it is a bible name and we wanted an A.J.-- James is after Dh's father and my grandfather

Benjamin John (twin B)- Was after Dh's friend and I've always loved the name Benjamin, his middle name is after my dad's middle name and Dh's uncle-- I am now finding the bname Ben in a lot of current movies.
We had a very diffucult time naming our boys. My DH is very traditional and he shot down basically all of the names I liked. My favorite thing on this website is reading all of the unique and beautiful names. I love the Eli and Peyton manning reference. I love football and say that once and was wondering about it.
