Bedrest buddies, you're too quiet lately! I've got a question. What are some of the nicest things folks have done for you while you've been on bedrest?

I keep thinking about the orangeade Snapple and candy bar a friend brought to me here at the hospital.

It has been quiet. I am actually allowed to do a little bit of activity now, so I guess I am on a modified bed rest! Yay! My sister has been helping me out A LOT! She is sleeping over tonight since DH is out of town. When I have the babies she will totally take care of her. Most nights she stays until 8 or so to make sure that I can rest.

So many nice things were done for me!

All the nice, healthy foods everyone bought me that came to see me. No one came empty handed.
My older sister cut and polished my toe nails and called me twice a day to tell me how strong I was. She also bought me nice pj's, maternity undies and tons of new books.
My younger sister and brother in law bought me a Nintendo DS.
My parents bought me a few nice pyjamas.
I had lots of flowers, but the cutest ones were from my dad. He bought me 3 pink roses, one for me and each baby - it was so sweet!!
DH blow dryed my hair straight.
My work bought me a ton of magazines.

Bedrest is no fun, but it showed me how much people love me!

Sounds like you all have a great support system in place and that is so important while on bedrest. :)

It's so nice to read positive things about bedrest. I'm just finishing up my 13th week of house arrest (been here since 23 weeks for shortened cervix, PTL). I was hoping to have a week or so to myself before the babies but I'm going right from bedrest to L&D. Oh well I can at least say I've made it!!!

    Let's see...

My MIL comes once a week and helps clean.
FIL has brought me lunch every so often. I fell in love with this sandwich from a local deli and it's so good.
My parents have made us lasagna, bought things we needed from the registry since I can't go shopping etc.
A few friends have brought us dinner. My fave was sushi...shrimp tempura roll that I've been craving more of ever since.
One friend from out of town came just to help me set up nursery stuff and organize baby clothes.

I feel very lucky how helpful people have been but honestly can't wait to do stuff on my own again!

You all are making my friends and family look weak in the kindness area, haha!

Laura, way to go on all your bedrest. . . you are tough!

Emily, They live nearby and MIL drives me nuts btw but I can't complain since she's so helpful. How much longer are you supposed to be on bedrest?

My MIL came every other day, always with some yummy choc. chip cookies.
My best friend came every other day of that and just visited and kept me company.
My mom came every weekend and helped pass time.
My friend's brother's girlfriend who I barely knew came and was trying to teach me how to crochet.

You TRULY learn who your real friends and family are during this time. And unfortunately, who isn't.

We moved 1000 miles away from friends and family about 2 months before we conceived our babies. So the only person I really have here is my DH and he has been wonderful. During the 58 days I've been in the hospital on bedrest, he's stayed the night probably 50 times with me. At the beginning while I was on mag, he did my bedpan, helped me change position, sponged me off constantly with cold washcloths, kept telling me where I was and that I was ok while I was delirious. He brings me things from home so my room feels less lonely, brings me food from the "outside" and eats my hospital food sometimes. I could go on and on, but he truly wins father of the year award for supporting me during this tough time. Lots of friends and family have sent care packages and overwhelmed us with treats, baby clothes, books, puzzles, coloring books, etc.
You really do realize who your real friends are when you go through something like this :)

Wow, it's amazing to hear of all the support some of you have gotten!! That is AWESOME!! My biggest supporter has been DH. I'm on bed rest at home and he's become the head of absolutely everything! K, so he's not sooo good at the cleaning, but I've got to give him credit where credit is due. He's been cooking for me (normally my job), walking and taking care of the dog (we usually share), and best of all.... I've been nesting through him. I can do some of the easy sit down stuff like folding clothes for a few minutes, but he's done the rest. He's also arranged for his friend to come by and help him rearrange furniture, etc for the babies room. We just found out yesterday that I will be delivered via C section on Tuesday June 3 so now the pressure is on to get all of that nesting done! Good luck to you all!! hang in there!

Oh yeah, it's been a great break for DH when friends bring dinner over!!!! That's been a huge help for him/us!

here we go!, mere days lie between you and freedom from bedrest! Awesome!

People have mainly brought food to my DH and children. There's an elderly lady at church who writes me sweet cards and letters. . . I hardly know her. My nurses have been wonderful, and my docs are awesome - loaning me their movies and buying me yogurt. When my mother can watch my kids, it's wonderful because she is so perfect at being a mother and grandmother that I don't worry about my kids at all. One of my sisters takes her every other Saturdays to clean our house so DH can focus on the kids.

Honestly, most of my friends (except two) and neighbors do not understand at all what I;m going thru. My church music minister is under the impression that I;m getting served like royalty and this must be a nice break. . .

My DH hasn't been ble to spend much alone time with me because he's working or taking care of our children. It's hard on him too. But we are almost there.

Officially, (if my cervix holds up), I'm on bedrest until 34 weeks at which point some kind of definitive decision is s'posed to be made. That's June 12. I can't even explain how antsy I'm getting as the "end" draws nearer in sight. I just want to get there so badly. The days are getting slower, and I'm having to play more motivational mindgames with myself.

Like Amanda, we moved away from friends and family in the middle of my first trimester. I did get all emotional :( ( oh well pregnancy tears) reading about the great support system you guys have. But also got motivated by the strength you ladies have.
I am on complete bedrest at home (thankfully). Life is crazy, but still a blessing. My DH has been just great. He does everything around the house apart from working full-time. I get home cooked meals everyday. He also takes care of our 2.5yr old DD. But I have never heard him complain or even mention that he is tired and needs a break. He wakes up by 5:00am, makes breakfst for all of us. Helps me get to the shower, makes lunch for DD and I. Comes back from office and then its snack time, then makes dinner. No heating up frozen foods or takeaway, but he makes everything from scratch. Sleeps by 11:00pm and wakes up in the middle of the night to help me change sides.
    God Bless him
And each and every one of your friends and family, who understand our condition (which can go from calm :D to crazy  ).
Of course each one of you deserves a big hug :air_kiss: :hug99: for being so patient, tolerant and making a zillion sacrifices for your precious ones.

I had u/s today, fluid levels are good, baby's are gaining wieght both at 1lbs 3oz. (22w 1d). The subchorionic bleed is getting better.
I am still 1cm dialated, good news is that this hasnt changed over one week and contractions are there too, but very random. One question, I feel like the contractions are more right after I eat. Any comments

Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best.

I know how lonely you must be because of the move! It's hard to be far away from friends and family :( Sounds like you are doing an awesome job. Good size babies!!! Are you having boys, girls? Your DH sounds like a trooper. He can win father of the year award too! I was so worried about how my DH would handle everything when we suddenly landed in the hospital, but these men know how to step up to I guess. As far as more contractions after eating, I would say I have the same thing and I always thought it had to do with my bowels working ;) Everything is so close in there that it seems like it could trigger it. Also, my babies seem to get the benefits from the food shortly after I eat it (within 20 min or less!) and when they move around a lot which they do after food, it can cause contractions. Those are my guesses!!!
Glad to hear that the bleed is getting better and the dilation is staying the same...
    :)
