The heart rates of my daughter's twins have been pretty close (generally both in the 150's). I am wondering if others have seen a correlation between heart rate and gender. If the babies' heart rates were about the same, were they the same gender? Is it possible for the heart rates to be quite different? She's 18w and we are all eager to know the genders.

My girls heartrates were not even close in the beginning, according to the old wives tale one was a boy & one was a girl, but nope identical girls is what we got :)

With my boys they always had the same heart rate and at every u/s they measured the same. They were di/di twins and we did zygosity testing that came back that they were ID.

In my experience, no. My twins had very similar hbs at many of my appointments and they are b/g.

I would agree. My twins are b/g and their heartrates have always been similar.

My girls were always about 20 beats different!! 140/150's vs. 120/130's. No correlation for me!

I have identical girls that were di/di, and they always had very different heart rates. I always had one around 145- 150 and the other was 165-170, and they turned out to be identical girls!

All my kids should have been girls according to that old wives tale. As you can see 3 of them had the plumbing on the outside not the inside.

Sometimes my daughter was the high one, sometimes my son.

    No correlation at all!

Ultra sound will be better if you are curious to know about the gender .Heart rate make no difference.

In the early weeks the heart rates were both high, then they were both around 155-160 for awhile. Now that they are older they fit the stereotype. Austin is 140's and Addi around 160. I think as they grow and get older the heart rates change. At the first reading, my Mom insisted they were both girls, and the tech said the heart rates will change. Sure enough...one boy- one girl.

Good Luck finding out the sex.

  15. The old wives tale says over 140bpm is a girl and under is a boy.
FWIW, my frat girls were 140 and 150's every time but always 10 beats apart....

One boy and one girl here, they are always between 6 and 10 beats apart in the 160-150 range.

I have fraternal girls... one was always 140-150 and the other 150-160. Its how doc knew they had switched positions.

my b/g twins were always close in hb range...usually 150s. I must say that ds' hb was always slightly slower though.

My girls are ID and there HB where always the exact same. The tech would always check and recheck to make sure she didnt have the same baby because there HB where so close!

My twin girls were ALWAYS between 145 and 150. Just enough of a difference to distinguish the two with a doppler.

This time around, we are having another girl...her heart rate is consistently measuring 150.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences. My daughter found out today that they're having a boy and a girl. Thanks again for all your responses. It is so interesting hearing about everyone's experiences!
