You know you're a SAHM when...

I thought some of you might appreciate this. I put on makeup today while the boys were napping which is uncommon at best. Really, I was cleaning out a drawer and put some on in between tossing ancient products. Anyway, I found a lipstick shade I love and put some on. When the boys woke, they noticed immediately. They started cracking up and said in chorus, "Uh-oh... Messy!" So, I explained how I put on some lipstick and when they gave me confused looks and asked, "Lipstick?", I added that it's color for Mommy's lips. "Mommy color face! No, NO color face! Color PAPER. Uh-uhhhhh. Timeout, Mommy!" I dang near peed myself laughing!

Mine...when I put on lipstick or actually dry my hair and my son says "Mama, you look beautiful!"

How funny! I better make an effort to put it on once a week so that doesn't happen to me! Although right now I kiss them so much, they would be wearing more of it than me. :lol:

 

I dont know if this fits just the SAHM catagory, but yesterday I was doing "flexappeal" in my livingroom. (a horrible 80s weightlifting show with tons of body buildrs on it) Anyway RaeLynn walks in and says "yay Mommy, You are doing good you are getting BIGGER!!" Taylor says, "no RaeLynn she wants to be skinnier!" RaeLynn ponders a bit.... "yay Mommy, you are doing good you are getting smaller!"

In the mean time I was ROTFLMBO!! :rotflmbo: Jee... Thanks RaeLynn. I assume she thought I was wanting to get BIG like the weightlifters on TV!!

thats funny... mine do that too ... when I get nice clothes on ...meaning ones without stains they asked if Im leaving and when I do my hair with the straight iron they always ask if I went and got a haircut....my neighbor once saw me for the first time in makeup and I could see the look on her face like wow you do look like a human, she asked me if I had gotten a makeover... man do I really look that bad when I dont do anything LOL

My oldest says the same when "I dress up" to go to dinner with a friend (or my husband) ...

Wait, you mean you're NOT supposed to go out in public with pants that have been spit-up on, covered in dripped-on bits of Gerber ORganic butternut squash and corn (a particular favourite around here) so they look like jeans that jackson pollack would have worn???

You mean you're supposed to care that what used to be your favorite cashmere sweater (that you bought on a BIG sale at Lord and Taylor about nine years ago and which is now practically shapeless because you wore it when you were pregnant) has a hole in the shoulder seam and you go out in it anyway??

You know you're a SAHM when:

- you go to a professional function with your husband and realize it's the first time since you've been pregnant that you've put on a suit

- you have to try REALLY hard at said function not to use the word 'poop' - not as an expletive, but as a regular noun in conversation

- you've forgotten what it's like to talk about anything but sleeping, eating, playing habits

- you KNOW there's a political campaign going on, and you know who the candidates are, but the possibility of your actually listening to any debates is nil because you just don't have the intellectual bandwidth

- you remember- vaguely - that once in your life you didn't spend every waking moment planning/scheming/wondering what to do and how to get errands done while working around naptimes that are not exactly in fixed schedule

- you really wonder if you will ever have another adult conversation, and at the same time you KNOW how quickly these babies are growing up!
