Let me start off my saying that I'm the momma to 5 month old Abby and Sofi Mono di twins that have been home since Oct 15!! My Sofi the smaller of the two was the A and B queen and spent 29 days longer in the NICU then her sister due to her spells. Both girls came home on pulse oximeters and apnea monitors. They have been THANK GOD spell free for 3 days now. The spells have been fewer and less severe every day that passes. ANYWays

I took a year off work and have been staying home with the girls. We are on house arrest until flu season is over!! My husband is a firefighter so as you can imagine I have had some VERY VERY LONG nights with two girls on monitors and a husband gone for 24 hrs ( My heart goes out to you whose husbands are away for any amount of time) So here is today's conversation:

Hey what are you doing? Oh we just got back from a trailer fire
    Really? Was anyone hurt?
No but it was a bad one! What are you doing
I just had a huge accomplishment!! I took a bath
WHAT REALLY?? were the girls sleeping!! ( My husband VERY EXCITED)
    Yes
How did you do it? Weren't you scared the alarms would go off? Did you have to get out of the tub? Wow I am so proud of you!!

YOU KNOW YOU ARE A MOTHER OF MULTIPLES WHEN YOUR HUSBAND IS MORE EXCITED THAT YOU BATHED THEN THE FACT THAT HE JUST PUT OUT A FIRE lol

If you really want a laugh and would like to know how a managed such an awesome feat let me know and I'll gladly post it. I had been waiting until my husband came home to bathe!!

So glad you got to enjoy a nice bath!! When my boys were in the 2-4 month range and super colicky I discovered that swaddling them and placing them in a bouncy seat beside the bathtub actually soothed them more than it did me! :) The bonus was that I got to semi-relax in the tub at the same time. In another couple of months they'll hopefully be STTN and you can take a bath more often!

BTW, I am surprised at how many moms here had babies sent home on monitors. The NICU our boys were in (a level 3 NICU with 60 beds) only rarely sent babies home on apnea monitors. Their discharge rule was that the baby had to be completely spell free for 8 days (plus taking bottles - no feeding tube) before they would allow a baby to go home. Something about studies showing that if a baby goes that many days without any spells then the chance of another spell occurring was very, very low. Occasionally they would allow a baby to go home on a monitor, but that was very rare. I must say I am glad my boys didn't have to have a monitor, I was petrified enough even knowing that they hadn't had a spell in over a week. Can't imagine them still spelling when at home!!
