Last night when I couldn't sleep (CAN YOU IMAGINE? My girls started STTN from 12 to 6ish and -heck- now I can't even sleep anymore!) I was thinking it could be fun to have a topic on "You know you are a twin mommy when...", so ladies: SHOOT!

When you have b/g twins and put the girl's outfit on the boy and don't realize something doesn't look right with how's he's dressed while you are wondering what in the world you did with her outfit. Hate to say it, that it happened to me a few times during the FY

You know you are a twin mommy when...

    - All you want for Christmas is an extra pair of hands.
    - You are an E.X.P.E.R.T. in multitasking.
    - You ask people about how their babies are doing, even if they only have one, simply because you're so used to talking about two?
    - You wonder what moms of singletons have to complain about, with their first child? (Note: I'm not trying to offend anyone, I know it can be hard sometimes for parents of one child that has or even doesn't have problems.)

I've done this, too! And if we're not going anywhere, I don't even change him. :)

When it takes you over 15 mins to get the kids in the car and they aren't even crawling yet!

You can pee while holding a baby. Including buckling and unbuckling your belt one handed.

I totally pluralize everything too! And whenever I see kids walking around I instinctively look for their twin

My husband told me I achieved twin mom supremacy when he caught me bf'ing one kid while videotaping the other

I say babies and they ALL the time to everyone, including all my singleton friends :) its a habit and i see no need in breaking it!

I also get pissed at hearing people complain about ONE, yes ONE baby.. WTH!! no offense either to anyone but after going through the FY with twins, I just prefer not to hear a sob story on how hard one baby is.

    - The word 'guilt' has gotten a new dimension. In fact, you forgot how it felt when you could go through life without feeling guilty about being unable to give both babies the attention they deserve.
    - You always think singletons miss out on something because they don't have a twin sister or brother. Must be sad/boring!

    Edit reason: plain stupidity.

    Live this topic!!

When you shop for clothes, you instantly look for coordinating outfits.

When checking friends' baby registries, you wonder why
    there's only one of everything.

Your biceps and triceps are constantly in pain from carrying two children.

Omg you girls are so funny! You all lighten up my day! I'm having a very bad day...
    How about:
    5 min shower is normal
Double pay for doc visit office copay is normal
When I give them kisses, always even number of kisses
I buy something for 1 twin, have to look something else for the other

it takes you the same amount of time to change two diapers as it takes a singleton mother to change one.

your friends of singleton babies just don't understand why you can't pick up and meet them at the mall in ten minutes....cauuse it takes you 20 minutes just to get them in the car with a diaper bag packed.

when your family calls you the nap nazi becasue you are so structured and scheduled and they just don't comprehend why you have to be.

When your quick 5 minute run to the store takes 20 minutes because everyone wants to "take a quick peek" at your babies.

:rotflmbo: :rotflmbo:  Honestly i'm the crazy nap police..... Everyone looks at me and thinks i am so unaccomodating for not being able to go out or stay out ..... but you all know what it's like to have TWO cranks on your hands b/c they missed their naps. I feel like I live in my house and I go nuts daily but the alternative is worse!!

[] You look forward to your MIL coming over with her helping hands
[] You are exhausted by 730pm

In response to pp: I too am a nap nazi...and my husband & I were both impressed when I tandem nursed in the back of the van while eating a taco (we were all hungry).

When you tell one you love them, you immediately turn to the other and tell them you love them too. To this day, I still do it! LOL!

When you can pump, bottle feed, and go on the computer at the same time.

When you just make it look easy. I can't tell you how many people tell me I make it look easy. I don't know. I just pack up the three kids-and go. The more you do it, the more used to it you get-as do they!

Ok you also know you are a twin mom when you have two infants who are infinitely more patient than any singleton would be! Having to wait to continue eating till one is burped, wait for attention, etc while mommy is the only one home w/the two of them :) My boys are so PATIENT already at only 6mos!

I am loving all the responses...I can identify with almost all of them! Except putting the boy in the girls clothes as I have two girls but I was killing myself laughing at that one!

I have developed this incredible ability to 'know' when one of my girls has put something in their mouth that they shouldn't have. They can be in a different room, I will sense something, go to the offender and pull out whatever it is she decided would be good to eat. It's like I was given this super power to help my girls survive the 'we put everything in our mouth that we find on the floor stage', it's wonderful!

So true!! I just started back to work and MIL watches the boys from 1-4 everyday. I'm anal about them napping enough and I'm pretty sure she has to think I'm a nap nazi!

LOL These are great!!:) I think all twin mommy's are nap nazi's!!:) My greatest moment of "I can do this" was when the boys were just a couple months old I found myself bottle feeding both in the bouncy chairs and playing with the dog with my feet! LOL!!!

This thread is hilarious! I haven't dressed DS in DD's clothes yet, but I have put her in his and just left her...and make sure there is a pink blanket on her but I'll still get asked if I have 2 boys.

    I'd like to add
-you can drink your coffee cold.
-you eat extra large meals because you never know when your next one will be
-you think staying up until 10 on a saturday is late!

... when hold A baby is no longer an excuse on why you can't do things
... when you find yourself swaying in line at the grocery store even when you're alone
... when you schedule an extra 30 minutes into your errands because you KNOW you'll get stopped no less than 10 times
... when you find yourself wondering what mothers of singletons do with all their extra time
... when you can check your mail, eat a meal, feed a baby, and bounce the other baby all at the same time.. and it feels natural.
... when you sit down at the end of the day with the intention of catching up on recorded shows and instead fall asleep sitting up
... when the only way you get to watch TV is by recording your favorite shows on the DVR and "only" being a week behind is a success.

Hahahahaha, this is all soooooo recognizable! (Except for the patience thing though. Mine are NOT patient at all. You'd think they would get used to waiting for their sister, but NOOOOO, they are very clingy when I'm changing diapers/preparing food/ironing/peeing/...)

    These are too funny!!

Oh, and eat like a Marine.

Dh & joke about it, but it is true... we "eat it now, and taste it later". I have never taken such big bites so fast before. We really noticed it at a wedding recently... we were done well before everyone else at our table!
