You have got to be kidding me!

We were at a family wedding this weekend. It's about a 4 hour trip with kids -- you know how trips always take longer now that you have kids. Anyway, yesterday on the way home we stopped in St. Cloud, MN for lunch and to break up the trip a bit. We chose Burger King because DH likes it and had some coupons. So we get our food and go sit down and the high chairs are FILTHY. I'm not easily grossed out, but these were bad. It took about 10 wipes to make them "clean" enough for me to be willing to put my kids in them. We ate our meal and I took Annelise to the bathroom to change her diaper. I could not believe my eyes. There was NO changing table. The girls really needed their diapers changed before we took off again. We packed up to leave and on the way out I asked for a comment card. I was told they didn't have any, but the manager would like to speak with me. She asked what the issue was and I told her about the changing table. She said they aren't allowed to have them anymore because they are unsanitary. Well, duh. I think we all know that, but sometimes there isn't any other option. Our car was way too full to find a place to lay a baby down to change her. I told her it was very inconvenient and if they were going by that logic, the high chairs should have been banned at the same time since I'd never seen a high chair so disgusting. The whole thing left me feeling like I might never go to a Burger King again. It was not family-friendly at all. It was so NOT worth the $2 we saved with the coupons. We should have gone to Culver's like we usually do.

Ugh. Thanks for letting me vent.

On a positive note, the girls went back to daycare today (after being off for the summer)and were put in the toddler room. They had a fabulous day. They sat at the little table and ate with utensils and took at 2+ hour nap on their little cots. I was worried about that since we still use high chairs and cribs at home. I was so proud of them for having such a good day.

Wow, what a nasty BK! Yuck.

And, YAY  for your girls on their transition to daycare!! What little troopers they are for just jumping right back in the swing of things!

Beth, sorry the Burger King stunk. It annoys me when restaurants don't have changing tables. :clapping: Hooray to your girls for doing so well in daycare!

Sorry about your BK experience. I would have been livid.

I dont have any brilliant winter suggestions, but for summer- we keep a blanket in our car. You can lay that down anywhere (even a parking lot if needed) to do a quick change. You could also lay down the seat in your stroller to do a quick change there as well. Stories like yours, and the lengths we have to go through just to change a diaper (or 2) make me really look forward to potty trained toddlers!

UCK I am sick of running into non-family friendly places when I need them most!! I am so glad to hear that you're LO's had a great day 1 in the toddler room. Strange to have "toddlers" all of a sudden. Where'd my babies go?

My idea is if they serve kids meals and have a play area there should be a changing table! I mean yea, they can be a bit unsanitary but you know there's going to be some person who opts to change their baby in the dining area b/c there's no changing table. Ugh. Sorry you had such a bad time there, sounds yucky...

Glad your girls did well at daycare today!
