Do you only give the yobaby (or other full-fat yogurt brand) to your kids?

I haven't ventured from this brand, but we were at Costco the other day and they were sampling the Yoplait Go-Gurt. I gave it to the boys and they loved it so much that they were scream-moaning for more and I had to double back for a second sample.

I'm sure it's full of sugar, and wouldn't use it all the time, but man would it be convenient to just stick one in the diaper bag on the way out the door for a mess-free snack on the go. I'm tired of cleaning out crumbs from the stroller!

Yobaby is full of sugar, imo, so we've never used it. Actually we did try it as their first yogurt. They hated it and when I started comparing ingredients (because I wanted to make sure I got something that wasn't bad for them), I found that it's sugar content seemed very high.

I've never used YoBaby. From the start I've given them regular organic full-fat plain yogurt, mixed with applesauce, baby food, or pureed fruit. If I'm using a really tart fruit, like frozen raspberries, I do add some sugar, but other than that, there's no added sugar.

Once in a while I do give them regular low-fat flavored yogurt (Yoplait or whatever). I keep a few on hand for DH and me, and they are convenient to stick in the diaper bag. It certainly won't hurt them! OTOH, it won't be a mess-free snack for long -- just wait till they insist on spoon-feeding themselves.

We haven't tried the Go-Gurt yet. We usually get the Dora yogurt, I'm not sure if it's Dannon or Yoplait. They really like it, but then again, they haven't tried a yogurt yet that they haven't liked!

We use all different kinds of yogurt. Not just yo-baby. I think some stuff is just a marketing scheme. I try to get the most natural kind, meaning not as much artificial flavor, they seem to like even the plain vanilla.

I get the drinkable yogurts and we use Yo-Baby, Stoneyfield, and Tillamook. But like pp mentioned, our kids will take any yogurt. We also went through a go-gurt phase, but they got sick of it at some point.

We have never used YoBaby. For a long while we used full-fat plain organic yogurt that we purchased in the big containers and then mixed in pureed fresh fruit, and then somewhere around 18 months or so we started giving them any old yogurt. I try not to do the low-fat yogurt very often because they tend to be flavored with Splenda/Nutrasweet and I do try to limit that, and I try to pay attention and get yogurt with less sugar (actually the Yoplait kids yogurt is pretty good on that), but really we give them pretty much whatever. They were on a big yogurt kick for a couple of months but now they aren't very interested, so I haven't bought any in over a month now.

We did yobaby yogurt when they were younger (mine are now 3), but they have been having Go-Gurt for quite a while now. Mine go through phases of really liking it to not wanting it. A friend of mine with twins turned us on to Go-Gurt. She actually freezes her Go-Gury sticks and uses them as popsicles.

Go-Gurt is a really good deal at Costco!

I don't buy the Yobaby, either, b/c I think it's a little high in sugar. Not that our kids don't get any sugar.....they get some treats every now & then (mostly at Grandma's house :) ) , but I do try to limit it. I buy just regular Plain yogurt & add fruit or baby food fruit. Awhile ago, I mixed some with fruit and then froze it like popsicles....they loved it! Not that it would work for on the go, though....too messy.

I've never been particular about the yogurt *brand* really. Other than the plain plain plain ones that have no added sugar - I don't feel like the kids eat enough of it to really impact their total sugar intake that much KWIM?

I like the drinkable yogurts (just pop a straw through the closed top so it won't leak if they tip it) or the gogurts (just cut the very corner of the top off so it doesn't go everywhere - or freeze them like a yogurt pop.

I really like the yogurts with added L. casei and other probiotics nowadays. I think that took WAYYY too long to come up with.

I do give mine only Yobaby because it is made with whole milk and mine can use any extra calories they can get. With my oldest though we just bought any yogurt. It doesn't really matter.

We use YoBaby and the Horizons whole milk yogurt. We are supposed to switch to the lo-fat versions when the girls turn two.

We have used Yobaby yogurt. Now I just buy Yoplait yogurt, with Dora or Diego on the carton b/c it's cheaper. We haven't tried the GoGurt yet, but may have to since so many people say it works! :)

We just buy plain full fat yogurt...Dannon makes it in a big container...I add gerber pureed fruit to it and they like it. My boys arent used to a lot of sugar so they accept it well.

I NEVER used yobaby, even from the beginning. I bought the walmart brand kind and chose all the different flavors. My guys loved it.

I use a big tub of plain, low fat yogurt. We went to low fat at twelve months, as it was hard to find a big tub of full fat, plus they drink whole milk and eat lots of avocados, so I think they are getting enough fat. When we started yogurt, I did use the little Horizon cups. We mix their yogurt with fresh fruit and wheat germ.

We did yobaby up until here recently when I started buying it by the tub(they usually have yogurt everyday for w/breakfast). I try to buy our local lowfat vanilla yogurt(Hiland if your curious), it has a great vanilla taste. I can't find any full fat other than yobaby and its jsut to expensive with them eating this much! I add wheat germ or cream of wheat/oatmeal to their yogurt.

I buy the yobaby because my boys dont eat it every day and the only other whole milk yogurt is in the big tubs and they dont eat it fast enough before it gets bad once its open. Plus they don't really like the plain even with fruit mixed in. I like it because its has half the sugar as the yoplait and doesnt contain corn syrup and corn starch.

    Thanks for the feedback, girls.

My boys love the new(?) fruit & cereal line of Yobaby our Safeway recently started stocking.

Our family avoids any "diet" foods b/c of all the crap they put in to replace the natural sugars/fats. I'm not highly concerned with sugar b/c they don't get too much of it and at least it's "natural".

I compared the yobaby to the go-gurt in the store today and to me it looked like the sugar content was pretty comparable. I think we'll try a package for special occassions/quickie snacks.

Alden...you're sooo right about the mess factor! I have one who is already trying to grab the spoon for anything we offer that isn't self feedable. That should be a fun phase...

To cut down on the mess of yogurt, I used to add rice ceral to thicken it (and sneak in iron, since we don't eat much meat) I did that from when they started on yogurt until about 20 months I guess. They were able to self feed yogurt that way by 12 months.

We give them the drinkable yougurts as well as the kids yoplait yougurt(which is what we started with).
They really enjoy both of them.

i use dannon products, but not the gogurt but i would possibly use it after checking the ingredient list. i don't want to give artificial sugars and don't want a lot of additives. i also don't want to pay extra for yo-baby. the girls eat larger servings than that anyways. I use the low-fat vanilla all natural yogurt. i have bought yo-baby, and the dannon all natural 4 pks fruit flavors.

My kids have been splitting one of these every day for a while now, so I thought I'd go check out their website and see what they said about their ingredients. It looks like they have reduced their sugar. What I was really hoping to see is that organic milled sugar is *better* than white refined sugar. Didn't see that, but here's their marketing info:

    * Helps promote healthy brain development—YoBaby is made with the whole milk pediatricians recommend for healthy brain development for children up to age two.

    * Helps little bodies grow, naturally—YoBaby is naturally high in calcium and protein, important for growth. YoBaby Fruit & Cereal also contains 45% your baby’s daily iron needs—another good building block. And, our new YoBaby Plus Fruit & Cereal with DHA (a natural fatty acid) supports baby's mental and visual development.

    * Contains no yucky stuff!—YoBaby is all natural and certified organic. It’s made with milk from cows that were fed organic feed and have not been treated with antibiotics or artificial growth hormones. And, all of the fruits and grains in our products were grown without the use of toxic and persistent chemical pesticides and fertilizers.

    * Helps fortify your baby’s natural defenses—YoBaby contains six live active cultures, including L. reuteri, which helps inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria such as E. Coli, Salmonella, Staphylococcus and other organisms in your child’s digestive system. Stonyfield Farm is the only U.S. yogurt brand with L. reuteri , which also has a therapeutic affect on viral and bacterial diarrhea.

    * Now a little less sweet—We’ve recently reduced the amount of sugar in all YoBaby yogurts. You may notice a slight difference in taste from our original recipe, but since little ones’ palates are so different than adults’, they won’t miss the sugar one bit. YoBaby yogurts now have only 12g or 13g sugars depending on flavor (including natural milk sugar), which is about the same amount as a jar of baby food fruit!

We use Danone Creamy. It doesn't have that yucky yogourt taste and it is like a dessert. Infact many times we eat it for dessert. (Everyone except my hubby)

At home I stuck with the plain whole-milk yogurt that came in the big container. It was cheap and didn't have any added sugar. If I was at someone else's house I wasn't picky though and I would give them the sugary yogurt. Although I wouldn't use Gogurt very often (so the Costco size would be out ;) ) every now and then won't hurt them.
