snack time. they *usually* each eat their own yogurt at snacktime, once a day.

What I would do, if it's for a snack, while whole fat is better, low fat is acceptable. If it was for a meal though, I wouldn't go with lowfat. Only whole.

I agree :good: My DD loves Greek Yogurt and when it's on sale, I'll buy some extra for her for a snack.

My girls are 15 months old and do not have health issues or growing issues, so I switched to greek yogurt. It is part of their breakfast. Switching made sense to me because the greek yogurt (trader joes brand)has less sugar than regular full fat yogurt and has more protein. I would rather have less sugar in their diets than more. The sugar part depends on the brand though. Greek gods yogurt seems to have just as much sugar as regular yogurt, and Fage has less.

I probably wouldn't feed my guys non-fat foods (unless I was eating it and they wanted a taste). Fats are really important for brain development in young children. I think a low fat yogurt would be okay as an occasional snack, but most of the foods I feed my boys are full-fat. :good:

I agree that low sugar and higher fat/protien are the better combination. YoBaby has a lot of sugar and I think only comes in little boxes rather than a larger tub (i.e., lots of garbage). Consider trying a different brand like Strauss Organic Whole Milk yogurt (my kids prefer this one) or Brown Cow Whole Milk Yogurt. If you buy a maple or vanilla flavored one it will have more sugar in it. I usually add fruit, granola or wheat germ for my kids. It is also very easy to make you own yogurt - lots of recipies on-line - no speical equipment needed. Will save money if you want organic (which I strongly recommend for your LOs).

i eat greek yogurt and my LOs only eat organic. (for the most part)

issue is yobaby is 5.00 and my kids eat 2 in one sitting. thats 3 days and its gone.
bj's had the chobani and they LOVED it when they sampled it. however, it's 0% fat; no aspartane or anyting like that.

I stopped giving my babies Yo Baby when they started eating yogurt on a daily basis (7-8 mo) because it was just too expensive. I usually buy Yoplait whole milk plain yogurt and mix it with fruit or veggie purees. We don't have specialty stores or warehouse stores around here, so I don't have greek yogurt even available to me. I think that if your babies are normal weight (not underweight), and drink the normal amount of milk otherwise, giving them the greek yogurt is fine. The only time I would worry about the fat content is if the yogurt was to replace a milk serving. Fats are important for brain development, but protein is too and greek yogurt is high in protein even if it is lower in fat.
