My mom came home from the grocery today with some yogurt for the babies. They are 7 months old and I dont now whether I should give them ogurt or not. I remeber giving it to ds1 but cant remeber how old he was. The yogurt is called YO-Baby. It says its for inants and toddlers. Anyone else give theirs yogurt this early.

I started giving my babies yo-baby around 7 months old. They absolutely LOVE it!

I started yogurt at 7 months also, and had no problem whatsoever. They love it too. We buy the big containers and mix it with fruit jars, I think it's cheaper this way and mostly we have a lot of jars to use up, but I'll probably try yobaby a few times anyway.

Yes, you can. If you're feeling really unsure give your pedi a call.

If you're feeling crafty and/or you like cooking you can make your own crockpot yogurt. Yogurt freezes well btw.

That yogurt has honey though I think so probably not good for now... Either way, it just really cracks me up that homemade yogurt uses yogurt as an ingredient. Isn't homemade stuff supposed to be cheaper? :D Looks yummy though.

I was told no dairy of any kind until they are a year old. The list included yogurt and honey. I would double check with your pedi before giving them anything like this.

You can sweeten it with anything you like, but most kids like unsweetened yogurt. (Like my kids. They adore plain unsweetened yogurt.) The reason you need a small amount of yogurt to start a new batch is because yogurt has good bacteria in it and you need to introduce them to your milk otherwise you just end up with sour milk. After that you can just scoop out a half cup of yogurt from the batch you just made and use it in your next batch.

And it is yummy. It's easy and I really enjoyed the flavor.

We offered it at 9 months with my older DD and we held off until one year for both of the boys because Derek had a suspected milk protein allergy and I didnt want to introduce it to one and not the other. But had that not been the case, I would have offered it at 9 months.

www.wholesomebabyfood.com will give you some good ideas about age appropriate foods.

I second the recommendation of wholesomebabyfood.com. We started ours on Yo Baby Yogurt at 9 months and they love it! It also never hurts to ask your pediatrician about it as well!
