We are going to get the boys some toy laptops for xmas. They LOVE their sisters barbie one and the ones they play with at her dance class, hair dresser etc. Zach is in LOVE with THOMAS. So I found a THOMAS one for under $20 on sale at TRU. And they BOTH love Diego, Elmo, etc. I saw a cute Diego one at TRU also not on sale but like the boys will know whose cost more? LOL.

So should i buy two diff ones? FWIW, J is not into trains at all much.

    THANKS!

OH they are getting the CUTEST remote cars from my parents! I live way on the other side of the US from all my family so AMAZON.COM is dropping of pkgs by the boatload to my house. Fun that i get to wrap them (and put the batteries in and play with them first too HA).

    Anyways, TIA B)

Only you know how your kids will react to the same but different items. As long as i am good at making them play with "their" item it doesn't end up much of a fight. If I let them switch back and forth, then there is usually a fight as to which one plays with which one.

I always buy different but similiar things. With having 2 of the same they get bored easily, by having 2 different ones, they each can enjoy different activities. And it teaches them to share too!

I bought a them different but similar also, I just couldn't see having doubles of everything. I bought my boys laptops one is Diego and the other is Blues Clues. The Diego Laptop is much bigger then the Blues one but even if they are the same item they are at the age where they want what the other has regardless if it is the same exact thing or not. I also did this with most of their presents.

I would buy two different ones. Like others have said even if they are the same they might fight over them anyway. But atleast they will know which one is their toy and if they want to share it with their brother they can. That's atleast what we do in our house, the girls know which toy is theirs and if they want a toy they need to ask her sister if she can play with it and accept any answer they get even if it's no. They do good with sharing and I figure they atleast have some toys that are just theres since they share a room, birthday, some toys, games, and some other things.

Just thought I would share my CUTE decision on this dilemma. I took out one of the FP Learning Laughtops I bought and let Felicia play with it and asked her what she thought knowing her brothers. She said it was easy for her (rated 3-7 yrs) and if we get diff ones they might both fight over one! What a smart answer from my big beautiful almost 8 year old :) SO I have one and orderd another for $10 less and free ship on etoys.com. I will put their names on the bottom in perm marker (if it gets down to it).

Thanks again for your replies. Sometimes the answers to questions come from unthoughof places
