We normally go to my IL's for a couple of hours on Christmas morning but today we found out my BIL has the flu. DH and I have both had our flu shots and the twins have had their first round of flu shots (won't be eligible for the second round until the end of this week) but Vivi hasn't had hers yet.

If he is feeling better and no one else has gotten sick, would you still try to go? I don't want to overreact but I also don't want 1-3 sick babies on my hands either.

I could be wrong, generally if the fever has been gone for maybe 48 hrs, they aren't as contagious. But that might not hold true for the flu, i really don't know.

I would probably cancel it and see if they want to get together next weekend instead. Just in case!

He should stay home! Going to someone's house sick is just rude. If he goes then I would stay home. You're right you don't need sick kids. Missing out on the traditions of the holidays stinks but you dont want the flu in your house.

I'd skip it. Better safe than sorry. There are some nasty bugs going around.

Thanks everyone. He actually still lives at home (he's still in hig school) so it's all up to us. Much as I hate to miss out on time with some family members we only see once or twice a year, that's probably what we'll have to do this year.

I wouldn't risk the kids. I'd try to get everyone to net for new years

I'd skip it. A cold is fine but the flu is nasty.

I wouldn't go. All 6 of us had the flu a couple weeks ago. It was really bad. It took us a week to feel better and we are still tired from it. I would reschedule for New Year's.

I wouldn't go. Your kids don't have full immunity yet, for one, assuming the strain he has is covered in the shot. And even if no one else has been sick YET, they could be carrying it and just not showing symptoms yet, or the germs could still be on surfaces in the house. With kids so little, I definitely wouldn't risk it. I have a couple of friends who have had it in their families this year, and some of the kids have have scary high temps (one of my friend's little girl, her temp went up to 106!).
