WWYD? Overgrown clothes with holes

My twins must be going through a growth spurt. It seems like overnight their pants are all too short. However, many of these pants have holes in the knees (I don't sew and I've been ignoring the holes). So I'm wondering what to do with all these pants. On the one hand, it seems a waste to throw them away; I'm sure someone could fix them. But on the other hand, I think it might be rude to give them away to Goodwill. What would you do?

    Thanks!

I would probably donate them or sell them VERY inexpensively on Craigslist....

My MOMs group would never allow us to sell anything with holes. I think that there must be groups out there who would love to have the pants with the holes and all and how you could be benefitting someone else and get a small tax breaK!!

I, also, would suggest donating-selling cheaply on Craiglist...or give away.

THe hole could neatly be fixed with some fun kids patches---make them stylish and reuseable or cut them off to make capris/shorts.

You could even call around-- some womens groups/shletered worshops/sewing clubs may like to use them a service project.

If they are jeans just cut the rest of the pant leg off to make shorts. It soUnds like they are just too short not to small.

I would donate them to Goodwill. I know lots of people shop there for cheap items they can fix up or practice sewing on... so it couldn't hurt, and I don't think it's rude.

I too say donate. If they don't want it, they'll get rid of it.

Freecycle -- it's a Yahoo group. Just google and select your city. You can get rid of anything and find most things for free.

I would either make them into shorts if they still fit them in the waist or donate them. There are a lot of charities that will take them. Big Brother often does a pick-up at your house.

Big holes, I throw them away. Small holes (like if the fabric got snagged on a nail or something), I include in our hand-me-down bags for other people -- I figure they can always use play clothes. When I'm the one getting the hand-me-downs, I just throw away things that are too stained or worn out for me, so I figure other people will do the same. But I'm not insulted that people give them to me.

My boys are really tough on their clothes also. I give anything that I would still put on them even as play clothes to the Goodwill or to friends/family that have a child that size. I figure if they don't want them they will get rid of them.

I'm pretty sure Goodwill and most other charities would throw them out. I've never seen things that were torn for sale at Goodwill. I'd try Freecycle.

FYI, there is hem tape that works with an iron (no sewing required) if you want to turn them into shorts.

I would list them on Freecycle stating the condition. Someone who sews or needs rags might use them.

List them on freecycle describing them with holes, but in otherwise good condition. There are some mothers who can put in patches.
